  1. well... the title kind of states my question, whats the best way for someone with my stats to beat the jungle demon in monkey madness. at first i thought mage, but the people who posted said i should try ranging it. i just got blue d hide and 2 mage shorts for 19k (not too be methinks :)) if i use a holy symbol, will i still need prayer potions? if so, how many? or would fire blasting it be better (if so, how many castings will i need) Another possiblity: should i try using a dorgeshuun crossbow? i can hit at least 9 with it, better than with my mage short. of course... it is a crossbow
  2. I am currently working on this quest. I will detail the hard parts: zooknock's dungeon, this has to be the longest dungeon in all of runescape. make sure you bring energy potions, and maybe 1 dose of prayer potion. i did it with just 5 antipoison doses or so, 1 or 2 lobs, 9 doses of energy potion (didnt last me all the way through). Running out of prayer was not a problem for me, i ended up with 10 points or so left at the end. Of course, to make sure i didnt run out i wore initiate helm, plate, legs, holy symbol... i think that was it. its great because you lose 1 prayer point every 4-5 seconds. near the end i also switched melee protect off in between monster clusters. note that you have to go through this dungeon twice! the temple: in order to get your m'speak amulet, you have to use your enchanted bar with the fires in the dungeon in the temple. unfortunately, the entrance is guarded by two annoying guards that you cant walk through. i suppose its possible to time your sprint to the trapdoor, but i know that killing them doesnt work. i tried, and once they reach low health, they rear up and beat their chest and restore their health a little; they do this every single time their health gets low. luckily for me, several people who had already done the quest were there, and they teamed up on one of the guards and pulled him away from the trapdoor, and i got in the demon fight: ... i haven't reached this guy yet, but as i understand he has ridiculously high magic defence, and can hit 30+ with melee and magic. luckily there are some ledges where he cant melee you, and then you can use mage protect. then you can use whatever method that doesnt involve you standing next to him you can; people have suggested: cannons (around 100 cannonballs) halberding and of course plain old ranging or maging (i myself think ill mage it, i would rather go against a super-high mage defence than try to kill it with my ranging level supplies: i cant really recognize what your potions are, but around 8 energy potions total (for 2 times through the dungeon), lol you definetely have enough food, and around 10 antipoisons to be safe (should be more than enough) btw, i plan to make a thread about the best way to beat the demon, so i hope to get back to you on that :)
  3. ^^this guy is smart^^ I think you would be better off going for white knight gloves as to get cooking gauntlets you need to kill a level 170 and cast all 4 blast spells on him, and dont forget hes in a room full of poison spiders (lol you can tell i had fun doing family crest, im proud to have finished it yesterday however) Seriously, Wanted isnt that hard, and it has some really cool cutscenes
  4. The reason I'm not sure about buying a d long is because I'm fairly sure I would switch over to a d scimmy as soon as i finish the damn quest, then i would end up selling the d long, probably for less than i paid for it #-o Another option: how do d b axe's compare wtih longs and scimmys? To make it easier, why doesn't every one just say which dragon weapon of the 3 they prefer
  5. I have only recently become a member, and I have already encountered people saying "Aneron y r u usin a rune scimmy??" The answer is because I'm working on Monkey Madness, in desperate hopes of getting a dragon scimitar. However, I'm beginning to wonder if I wouldn't just be better off going ahead and buying a dragon longsword, as I have already done the quest. I used to think that scimitars are just all out better than longswords, having slightly lower stats but being much faster. However, I see many more high levels using longswords than scimitars. Are they just too lazy to do Monkey Madness, or do they know something I don't? I admit that dragon longswords have a special that I would find more useful, as I don't pk. Pleaase advise (in case I haven't actually stated my question, it's: should I go ahead and buy a dragon longsword, or do monkey madness and then buy a dragon scimitar?????)
  6. LOL and its still not locked. 1- I will never be that rich so I would not be in that position anyway 2- I wear glasses so I would not be in thatposition anyway 3- I think the click-the-right-appendage-and-die-in-your-house-then-tele-there idea works best, assuming that you have to have redemption on before you fall below 10% health actually, i think the die in your house idea is better than the redemption one anyway
  7. woohoo 2nd post (unless somebody stole it while i was typing... grrrrrrr) Anyway interesting article, pretty much echoes my thoughts, except Im working on those annoying quests, monkey madness and underground pass, not laughing about how i already finished them...
  8. I should have thought of a thread like this when I became members a few days ago... Anyway heres a list of quests to do: Lost City (just mage the thing, I used fire blast, you could either level mage a bit or use earth blast) and there are plenty of mushrooms in the room to hide behind Priest in Peril Plague City Biohazard Tourist Trap (optional, gives 4.6k exp in 2 stats, including possibly thieving, agility, and fletching, great for getting a good head start) Recruiment Drive gives OK experience in some members stats, as well as allowing you to get useful high-prayer-bonus armor. Wanted! gives a pretty nice 5k slayer exp, useful for getting started, but beware: you will use up a lot of teleports doing it if you want to do it fast. If you plan to do Wanted!, you will probably have to do The Lost Tribe, as one of the clues is in the tribe's cave. Lost Tribe is pretty good to do anyway since you get some emotes (although they're pretty lame LOL) and gain access to a great mining area if you have gotten far enough in Recipe for Disaster (thats another good quest to work on) to use the Culiomancer's chest as a bank. AFTER 43 prayer The Grand Tree (great exp, opens up gnome gliders for quick transportation) Tree Gnome Village (^^^, only with spirit trees) I myself am currently working on Monkey Madness and getting DESTROYED. I have used up 20 lobsters, several antipoisons, and only gotten as far as escaping the jail. I haven't even gotten to Garkor yet. BTW the puzzle you have to solve to unlock the military gliders is hard until you get the right method, and its reset if you log out. On a sidenote, (not meaning to hijack) would I be better off waiting until I finish Monkey Madness to buy a dragon scimmy, or should I just go ahead and buy a dragon longsword since I've done Lost City? Which weapon is better? Scimmy's are faster, and prove you have done a harder quest, but long's have slightly higher stats and a better special... unless you pk (which I dont)
  9. The wall beasts are countered by wearing a spiny helmet, available from your local Slayer Outlet. monkey madness 5th time caught and you gave up? i got caught 25 times before FINALLY getting the greegree. Update: I did buy a spiny helmet, very handy. Anyway it turned out I was in the big frog area, not the GIANT frog area. At any rate, I did the rest of the quest, taking 55 damage when Solus hit me, surviving a cloud of poison gas, getting teleported to Camlot (???), killing a black knight he summoned, and being stunned by a very nasty sucker punch. Then I watched him hit 70s on the temple knights, but the fight was quite easy. I also returned to Ape Atoll, tried to get out a few more times and failed (when the monkey started walking away from the cells, I follow him, but then he turns around (???!!!???) and knocks me back into the cell. I still haven't reached Garkor to talk to yet. I have only gotten out of the jail once =[ ^^^Oh boy this thread is starting to get away from the original topoic =]
  10. I did try that, but I was a bit slow and a spider followed me. At that point i was out of antipoison, so i just teleported out and banked everything, then died (woohoo I got to test Gaze of Saradomin) Actually, then I thought I would try Monkey Madness, having already reinitialized the gliders. WRONG place to go if you are tired of poison I found out, after getting caught getting out of jail for the 5th time, I gave up and teleported out. Then I tried Wanted, but my first clue was giant frog legs, supposedly pointing at the Lumbridge Swamp caves, so I wasted several teleport runes to quickly make a bullseye lanter, then searched around, getting my head chewed on the whole time by those annoying wall beasts, and no Solus =[ That day quite shattered my self esteem...
  11. In the fight against Chronozon, i cant seem to attack him because of the blasted spiders continuously attacking me! Any advice on avoiding the spiders to get Chronozon?
  12. Update: I finished it!!!! You have to use the feed with one of the little [bleep]es sticking up out of the ground. So the plague was a hoax... you'd think the people in West Ardougne would have noticed that there really wasn't a plague... makes you wonder
  13. Kind of noobish huh? My problem is that I can't seem to use the bird feed with the tower. I click "use bird feed", I get "use bird feed with...", I then put my mouse over the tower. What happens? Nothing! It still says "use bird feed with..." Advice please! PS- I hope I'm at the right tower, its the one right in between the gates in the Ardougne wall and then wilderness teleport lever, with 4 mourners on top of it.
  14. boy, all those numbers make the wealth of the richest player in the game seem like nothing... if only all of runescape's cash flow could be diverted to me for an hour... awesome article anyway
  15. first I'd put everything on my mage noob. then massacre all those annoying merchants who would make you pour out your soul for their rares (srry i had a bad experience with a merchant like that "put up the rune scimmy or no deal", so fun to walk away, adding to ignore list at same time... dribble)
  16. Now that I have gotten 79 combat, I need to make some money. In light of the recent construction update, and the subsequent drop in yew prices, many less people will be yewing. That means more yews for me :) But I dont know what the best spot is. I originally cut at Melzar's Maze, having a low level friend take my logs and note them. He would keep 8 of the notes each load as payment (this saves me from having to run around on a very slow computer). But he was inspired to get his woodcutting to 60, and start yewing himself (he did it in like a week rofl). He says (along with another yewer Im friends with) that the Varrock yews are much better. Is this true, now that the macroer problem in Runescape is nearly solved? Or is there another yew spot, better than both, that I have overlooked (like Falador or Lumbridge castle) ? I am f2p, and am aware that there are much better members yewing spots, I dont need to hear about those. Please answer!
  17. you can also create those magic unlimited teleportation portals and make spell tablets and you can use house teleport to get to rimmington, or yanille, or relleka quickly
  18. I really need to know :? If you're interested in buying, my rsn is aneron, pm me (lol pm me on the forums too)
  19. In order to get elvarg at combat 43, i got a friend to wait outside the cage with extra food
  20. If you're going to use your pure for pking, don't waste the huge amount of time it will take you to level all the way to 43. Like that one person who posted ahead of me said, after one prayer assisted combat you have a higher combat than your stats represent until you recharge. That said, I really don't know how I would live without prayer, but then I only have one account (unless you count the level 10 pure mage I made a few months ago rofl)
  21. How true.... but one of my friends said that it's easy to find people buying for 300 each in members worlds... is this true? I used to make my money by selling steel bars, however it does not work that well on my home computer because its so slow and by the time i reach a rock in the mining guild somebody else has probably already mined it  I have like 1.3k yews as of this writing, but Im not sure if i should sell them now, or hold on to them until i become a member and see how much i can get for them then. Update: I just told 1k yews for 300k! Go me! I have over 1 mil now!
  22. I was just wondering what people thought the fastest way for someone with my stats to make money is. I am currently f2p, although I think I plan to become p2p for a month or 2 this summer (for the first time). So please give me some ideas!
  23. I got my combat up to around 10 by killing the lumbridge cows, so it's only fair that they got to kill me a few times...
