Rares prices.... (27,000+ views)
I bought my santa in early December 06 for 23.6m, and just a month ago they got up to that price again, I should have sold.. Lost 6.1M and counting. You won't lose anything till you sell it. If long term investing isn't your bag, sell now. If you can hang, keep it, the past several years are good indicators that the prices WILL go back up.

Rares prices.... (27,000+ views)
They will still be worth allot, they just wont be merchantable for more than 3k a trade now so merchants have given up trying to merchant them so now only the people who want them are buying and the demand has gone down. Simple supply and demand. Except that on "ye olde" Ge prices are plus or minus 5 percent. And 5 percent of 20 million is 1 million. Plenty of possibility to merch with that.

Summoning Level : Combat Ratio |||| 138 cmb = 95 summoning?
Wouldn't THAT be great, but I fear as they are designed to annoy even the highest level players Jagex will adjust them for the update....

Rares prices.... (27,000+ views)
No offense, but you really seem to have bought the swill peddled by the discontinued item shills far more than I'd have expected from you. Yes, the items are rare. You know what? There are lots of rare things that are worth jack squat. The only reason that these particular rare items are so (over)valued is because of all the hype and mystique that has built up over the years about them. Which has, I might point out, been pushed and reinforced continuously by those seeking to profit from these goods. You mention fear -- its counterparts are greed and envy, and those have been the main motivations responsible for inflating the rare balloon. If the game changes so that fewer people really care about wearing a silly paper Burger King hat, then the value of those hats will drop in price, no matter how rare they are. And it is my belief that the changes we are seeing so far are leading the game in that direction. Well, I guess we shall see over the next year. Whether it was owning a wearable rare that made players want them, or if it was the hype. And I haven't "bought any swill". I look at the rares in the game the same as I look at "rares" in reality. Is modern art being so "great and useful" what makes it so expensive? Or is it hype and peoples want? All I have is past history to back me up, and seeing as I'm sure we'll both be here in 365 days, this will have to wait till then for an honest conclusion. So I'll just sit here and say over and over: "No whammies, no whammies, no whammies, STOP!" till then....

Rares prices.... (27,000+ views)
The quote actually runs, "I only bet on a sure thing." Apparently you're somewhat of an opposite-minded person. That's cool though, you like to speak in absolutes with such feigned conviction that you feel like you don't need to support or defend your arguments, and that works for you. That's probably why you named yourself after a kind of gun, you shoot from the hip. =D> At least you do it consistently, that's a virtue. Keep on shooting. No, I based my reply on the fact that if I go into a casino, and try to find a "sure thing" to bet on I won't. I based my "conviction" on the "absolute" that ever since rares have been in-game they have trended up. That with-in several months of any correction they are back up, and over the pre-correction price. If rares were a stock on the market, brokers would be going crazy buying right now with such a history of gains.

Rares prices.... (27,000+ views)
Would you bet your life on it? If not, then you are feigning more certainty that you really feel. If yes, then Lol. I can't bet on a sure thing. I base my post on reality. The reality is rares haven't changed. The players have. The players that USED to trade rares are now either leaving, or doing something else, so they are selling at ANY cost to get cash. After the game stabilizes, OTHER players will collect rares. When that happens the price will start to go back up. Like it's done after PAST "hiccups".

Rares prices.... (27,000+ views)
Long story short: Rares are RARE. There won't ever be any more of them. Right now MANY players are selling and PANIC selling. This causes prices to go down. This happened EVEN WORSE when the dupe happened. And prices went back UP after the dupe.... Rares WILL go back up this time as well. It will just take longer. Prices on the GE can change by +- 5 percent. 5 percent of 200 million is 10 MILLION gold. So there's the possibility of making 20 MILLION on a merchanted P-hat. 5 percent of 20 million is 1 million. So there's a possibility to merchant 2 million on lesser rares. Right now players are in shock and FEAR, the ONLY question about buying rares NOW, is whether to do it today, or wait and see if you can save any MORE money by them going down over the next weeks/months. Rares used to be used by day traders, to make tens of millions a day. Now they will be used as a long term investment. Then IF the game is healthy by the end of next year, they will start to be used by day traders again.

RWT is not beat
And you ARE correct with that reply. History IS written by the victors. And as such in THAT way "good and evil" ARE subjective to which side wins, and which side loses AND which of those 2 sides you happen to be on. However we are not discussing history. Nor are we discussing anything were anything is subjective. We are discussing a privately run game, with a clear set rule base. This means there are no two sides. There is no ambiguity. There is a game maker that made a game, and made rules for it. Then there are those that agree to play that game under the rules. As such such following the rules is "good'. Breaking them is "evil". Just as when you play a board game there is no way to confuse the two. What fun is a game if the rules are suddenly "subjective"?

Remington -- you're replying to a forum troll who is incapable of telling right from wrong. He even thinks Hitler was only evil because he was portrayed that way by his enemies. You'll never get anywhere with him, trust me. I know. I remember him from the luring debates before Jagex re-made luring against the rules. The response was more for other players that may read his response and have any question about it.

RWT is not beat
Ahhh... Along the lines of "Stop snitching", huh? Sorry, I would report ANYONE in the game for cheating. The same I would turn in ANY person who broke the law in real life. Tattling? No, it's doing the RIGHT THING. I know it's hard to do sometimes. But that's how people learn responsibility. They get caught, and they learn that breaking the rules has consequences. What good would reporting my friend do now? He might, might get banned from a video game? This sort of behavior repeats itself buddy, I am doing my friend a favor by not getting him caught... What greater lesson will he learn? Will he come away with more from this experience if I tattle and get him banned, or years down the road if he's done something far more serious and gets caught for that. People will do what they want to, we cannot shape someone elses decisions. Ultimately the final say is theirs. The good would be: Jagex would see that their system has a loophole, so they can fix it. And two; he would hopefully learn a lesson and not do it again. In the very least he will not profit by breaking the rules. What greater lesson will he learn? He MIGHT learn that breaking the rules has consequences. And he might now. Unfortunately some people lack the self control to stop certain Machiavellian urges, and if they do, it's up to other's to have the personal responsibility to help stop them.

RWT is not beat
...And let the church say "Red Herring". Yeah, I know I say this a lot, but what's the point in introducing completely irrelevant points into a discussion about RWT not being dead? All it does is detract from the real issue at hand. Hence why it's considered a logical fallacy. And, by the way, the concept of good and evil is completely subjective. ...But I digress. Anyway, I've always wondered why people hate RWT's so much. They don't impose on your gameplay in any way, shape or form nor do they impose on Jagex as real money isn't going through Jagex; Just the parties involved. But thankfully in a forum discussing Runescape we have a ready source of what is defined as good and bad, or good and evil. If it's NOT against the rules, it's good. If it's against the rules, it's bad, or EVIL. Very easy, Very clear cut.

Of course you have REPORTED this to Jagex correct? Or are you openly supporting these RWT that have ruined our game? ANY company that violates rules to make money is "inherently evil". Their entire company is based on violating the rules. People don't want to work for what they want... this is a truth in life. Of course i don't LIKE it, but I live with it. And qeltar, I don't know what methods they use, i just watched my friend get the money and deal with the RWT's. They didn't go into detail about their methods. And about the companies being evil... is it the companies being evil? Or is it the persons supporting them? It's an economic fact, where there is a demand, there will be supply. The person is evil, AND the company is evil for trying to make a buck on it. Again, did you report your friend to Jagex so they can see exactly what happened?

RWT is not beat
RWT cannot be 100 percent stopped. But it CAN be made unprofitable. Which is what this update has done. Sure there are ways to RWT still. But the age of a RWT using hundreds of bots to drop trade to a main to sell for gold is GONE. Sure players can PAY to have their accounts leveled. They could ALWAYS do that. What will happen though? Now that there are THOUSANDS less bots to worry about Jagex can QUICKLY scan through reports both players and their software make about accounts. And there is a VERY big difference between playing on multiple IPs, and logging out in ONE country, and then ten minutes later logging into another country. That's IMPOSSIBLE, and will result in a ban that cannot be appealed. A player can try to mask his IP, but this can be detected and stopped. Jagex can easily deny players access to the game if they are logged-in using any proxy server.

The Fall of Jagex
Interesting. As a pure that didn't care about the other 90 percent of runescape you don't CARE about the bots. Well, as a skiller I don't care about YOUR 10 percent of runescape that the update killed. Maybe next time instead of dismissing others concerns out of spite, you can try to reason with them.

The Fall of Jagex
Consider an apple. It can ripen, and after a while if nobody eats it, it will rot. Ripening makes the fruit edible, while rotting makes it inedible. Rot and ripening are both types of changes. Yes, change is necessary to make the apple good to eat, but it is also turns it bad as well. RuneScape is an apple. It is rotting. That is not a necessary change, and certainly one we should try to stop. Closer to: One bad apple can spoil the bunch. Jagex had some bad apples, and removed them. Sadly some good apples got removed to. But I'd rather have a bushel missing 5 or 6 apples, then the whole bunch.

Any need for countdown between switching server?
I remember when Jagex added the log-in wait. I had been server hopping to mine silver VERY quickly in the crafting guild for making holy symbols. Jagex stated roughly: "We are adding a server wait time because we think it is unfair that those players with a faster internet connection can hop between servers faster then dial up players." I used to have about 6 worlds tabbed up, and would circulate between them VERY quickly to get silver ores. Notice how if you hop a world the wait is about 15 seconds, but if you do ANOTHER hop it goes up even more? If the wait time was SOLELY for transferring a character, there would be no reason for the second transfer to take even longer. It was made to stop the unfair advantage of cable modem server hoppers.

People who dont finish their kills properly
Slayer experience is based on how many hit points you damage it by. I've done damage on half killed monsters and gotten half the slayer experience.

The Take Over, Real World Tradings Over
+1 I really enjoy Clan Wars, but the BH thing destroyed PKing and the threat that the Wilderness offered. Furthermore, the trade update ruins about 70% of the game. The MMO aspect has basically been taken out of the game. It's basically become a single-player game with a chat system. If I wanted to play a game like that, I'd play Diablo 2. That's taking it a bit far don't you think? You can still interact with others, you can still fight along side them, though loot share won't be truely "fixed" till January. You can still trade with other players. And if you want to speed level you HAVE to. Just because you can't give gifts higher than 3K or trade with a deficit of more than 3K does not turn this into Diablo 2. I'm glad Jagex removed 99 percent of what annoyed me the most at the cost of only removing 10 percent of what I loved. Especially since Jagex claims they are working on a way to allow gifting again....

The Fall of Jagex
You obviously haven't played much WoW. First of all, you get honor points when you kill another player, which is used to buy PvP gear. Secondly, you're not "forced" to do any PvE to get PvP gear - the best PvP gear is gained by actually participating in PvP. Also, you really wouldn't want to sell any of those items, as you can make much more money from professions. /owned. Don't try and seem like a smartass when there's people ready and willing to shoot you down. It was done with ease, I might add. Anyway, back on topic. I agree with RS being dead. We've moved on to a game where you really can't do much player-to-player interaction. You can only trade within a certain limit, kill each other in designated areas, and click on whatever catches your fancy. The GE controls (or at least will soon control) the economy, as all prices will be based off of it. I'll play on my RSC account, luckily I can still log onto it. At least there I can PK in a non-[developmentally delayed] way. As I stated, there are NO drops from killing players in the wild. THAT'S what so many PKers are ASKING for. As I stated to get GOOD gear to PK you must go on long raids. I doubt many players are going to be getting ANY PVP points to buy any of the PVP stuff if they show up with none of the raid armour on. And the PKers here don't WANT to get money doing skills or professions. They want to make it PKing. What was that about "ease"? Oh, and good to see another player to can still play classic. Though I don't PK there right now. To busy trying to get my other skills up.

The Fall of Jagex
I can't believe all these players that keep talking about WOW. If you're seriously leaving runescape because there's no more loot drops in the wild then you're in for a SHOCK in WOW. There is NO loot drops at ALL in WOW. If you kill a player you get the satisfaction of the kill. That's it. If you played RS for PKing only you'll have to know that in WOW you WILL be FORCED to play verses monsters to get the "uber" drops needed to be viable in PVP. Once these items are used they are bound to YOU. No getting a great item, using it for a while and selling it. It's YOUR'S. Runescape has changed, but don't think WOW is a panacea for you just because it's number one.

So pathetic it's funny...
Interesting that you'd bring up classic, a game RUINED by bots. I can still log into classic. The game was overrun by bots, RS2 was NOTHING compared to Classic. Most honest players stopped playing it, and were locked out when Jagex started the 6 month rule. Now I play a game with maybe 10 other humans, and the other 100 are ALL bots. The prices of botted resources are extremely low, and that's IF you can find a buyer. Seeing as it's the PKers that are running the bots. They aren't trying to ruin anything but RWT. If a player CHOOSE to make a certain account that exploited only PART of the game, it's THEIR problem when that part is changed and they are left high and dry. I'm lvl 123. I'm still playing, will I change how I play? Yes. Has Jagex ruined the game for me? NOPE. Rich people are still rich. It's STILL easy to make money in runescape. It's still easy to make a million or more a day relying on SKILLS alone. I've got 1920 skill total. The game isn't ruined for skillers. Still plenty of ways to make money. And it hasn't done anything to the RWT? Check out ANY F2P world. If you refuse to see the MASS reduction in bots there then there's nothing we can do for you. This update has done exactly what Jagex said it would, made it unprofitable for RWT to run dozens of bots at a time. Quality - Pure quality. I have found my new intellectual man-crush! I better not let the wife know...
