Someone once posted that a really good way to verify what items you will keep when you die is to die while carrying the 4 items (mystic top, bottom, hat, and staff) with protect item prayer on and then note the order of the items in your inventory when you arrive in Lum or Fally. The items should be arranged in order from most valuable to least valuable. If, after conducting this experiment, you find that the staff is considered the least valuable item and want to know how it compares to the mystic boots and gloves, repeat the process while carrying those three items.

Range them in the Canifis pub. Hide behind the tables and you'll never get touched. If your range is too low, try magic, same idea.

Just a small variation on this idea. I steal from the master farmer in Draynor while wearing only a charged glory. I steal until I'm nearly dead, bank, and then continue stealing until he kills me. I then tele to Draynor using the glory and repeat the process.

One day, not too long ago, I decided that I wanted to collect enough snakeskins to make full snakeskin armour. After killing snakes for, had to be at least two hours, I only had enough skin for boots and a headband. Yeesh, what a pain, those snakes are a random event and don't appear too frequently. One day, I'll go back and hopefully put a full set together just so I can wear it and feel cool, but I'll tell you this : I'd never sell it for 50k, it wouldn't be worth it considering the time it takes to put a set together. I don't think I'd sell it for 150k. In my opinion, this armour should have much better bonuses considering how difficult it is to obtain. I will say that the boots and headband are nice (a poor man's ranger set).

Ok, time for a newb wishlist. I'd like a dmed and a whip. A santa hat. Ghostly robes. I like to wish for things that are well within my grasp, all of the above seem very attainable to me.

Wow, thanks for the breakdown, I think I'll have to give barrows a shot using slayer dart based on your numbers. You might consider adding a "-" to your ppot numbers like you did for deaths and minds.

I was teleblocked at the green dragons about a month ago and was unable to use my ectophial (and had to "run away!" instead). Unless something has changed, a teleblock will prevent one from teleing.

Stupid stuff that I did when I was a "noob" : I was impatient during tutorial island and couldn't figure out how to exit when I was done casting spells. I ran all the way back to the beginning of the island and then back before I finally figured out how to get out. I was unable to find the egg for the cook's assistant quest (I read that someone else had the same problem). I was looking in the hen house on the west side of the bridge, not the east. Not stupid, but still "noobish" : I was tormented by that auto-attacking guard who loves to attack people walking from Lumbridge to Draynor. I remember finally getting tough enough so that I could give that punk the whipping he deserved. I was pretty proud of myself when he was finally reduced to a pile of bones.

I use a bronze pickaxe and I usually get in on the first try, with the max number of tries being 3. My mining is only 55. Have you tried different types of pickaxes? If so, did you notice a difference? I'm sort of a rookie, but I've read that a bronze will do and, from my limited experience, that seems to ring true. A lot of you guys mention dropping pouches and then telegrabbing them. If you got killed up by the mage, wouldn't you still have to enter the wildy to do this? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Because when you go into a atlar in the abyss, you go to the real atlar, and when you exit it's where ever the entrance to the tlar is. Glories can tele you to edgeville, as dueling rings cant. Duel ring to Cwars, glory to edge :P I'm a big chicken and take this one step further. Leaving Edgeville, I cross the bridge and then head northwest to the wizard. All of the pkers wait on the other side of the river. I also connect to servers that have very few players on them (duh!). That said, I'm thinking that I just might start forgoing the dueling ring. I haven't crafted tons and tons of runes, but I've only been attacked once, and it was just an entangle (and then I ectoed). My combat level is only 71, maybe this is shielding me from the serious pkers? I use a laptop touchpad so I'm not always super-accurate with the mouse. FYI - I carry an ectophial, a shark, and the two pouches that I can use. I wield a mighty bronze pickaxe.

..and who are the other immortals that you've seen? I'm not above a little name-dropping. I bumped into Cthulhu at Meyer's the other day and found him to be suprisingly down to earth! He very graciously stopped his shopping to sign all of the papers required to take ownership of my tortured soul. His wife is an absolute doll, lovely tentacles. ..just trying to inject some humor, don't mind me, feel free to follow this up with a "spam!" post.

I remember buying a hint book for one of the early Zork games. The hints were all invisible and you had to use one of those special orange highlighter markers to make them visible. :) I remember using maps and guides for Bard's Tale. I remember sending and receiving quest walkthroughs via the mail system in the various muds I used to play. I also remember cursing the coders for changing their quests when they found out. I don't remember having a cheat or hint guide of Atari 2600 Adventure. Sometimes I'll chide my son for shamelessly using cheats whenever possible in his games, but when I think about it, I cheated too (and I certainly use any RS guide available).

Hehehe!! That would have totally defeated me too, I would have had no idea. Luckily, my son is only 11 and he's not quite that sophisticated yet (at least that's what I like to think.. :)).

I'm 34. I started playing because I suspected that my son was playing one day when he shouldn't have been (bad grades). I created an account and was going to catch him red-handed. Hmm.. What about a team at the green dragon pit? A mage with telebock and a pieman. The mage starts the fight with a teleblock and then the pieman starts pelting the victim with pies while the mage starts casting damage spells. This would be possible since it sounds like the pies don't count as an "attack" (you don't get skulled for throwing them), right? What would happen if someone started pelting you with pies while you were actually fighting a dragon? Is this possible? I guess the bottom line is - Can a pie be thrown at a person who is already engaged in combat in a non-multi area? Sorry if this question was already asked and answered somewhere..

Huh? Can someone verify that this is the case? I understand the bit about the bug involving auto-retal on, but this post leaves me confused and concerned. I always leave auto-retaliate off since I don't want to run towards attackers in the wildy (because I always run/tele away!! :)). Will I be skulled if I manually tag someone with my dds even if they started the fight?

I never thought of that. Sorry. I was thinking along the lines of trust when I typed the above post. I'm just optimistic that way. To answer your question, you don't. But you can choose not to add my/(the) name and thus keep yourself from annoying me/(him). But it's a bit too late now. Good topic. I don't mine anymore (ess, coal, iron, nothing). I don't fish. I don't cut wood anymore. I've cut less then 10 yew logs in my whole time on RS. I still pick my own flax and then spin it into strings when making yew bows. I'll stop picking flax when I start crafting my own natures. My primary income comes from high alching yew longs.

Does sitting on the couch my with laptop, playing RS, drinking a beer, and half-watching one of those bikini shows on the G4 channel count? How about if I open my window too? :D Seriously though, I agree with the 2 hours per day thing. That's plenty. I have some tasks that I must complete every night before I'm allowed to play (must go for a run, make dinner, clean up, put any laundry in, etc).

Not everybody is as smart as you are I guess. His statement may have come off a bit harsh sounding, but it's more or less true. There is no reason to do a deal any place other than a bank. Period. Don't go to the Lumbridge Swaps and don't go into the wilderness with cash / valuable items. If I would have fallen for this one, I wouldn't even bother reporting the guy, it'd be my bad for being a sucker, lesson learned. Heck, I don't even report people when they take items out at the last minute of a trade. If I don't bother too look closely enough at the second trade window to notice, then too bad for me. People need to spend less time reporting others and more time being more careful and using common sense.

*Every* time somebody posts a screenshot of a decent trail reward, there is at least one person who posts claiming that it's fake for one reason or another. So, uh, don't feel picked on or anything.. :) Very nice reward!

I would love to find a t-shirt, maybe all black, that simply says, "noob" in very plain, white letters. I've seen some noob t-shirts, but the colors and/or font are always bad. Personally, I embrace the word "noob". I am a noob, a newb, and especially a nooblet. Just remember that the majority of RS players are insecure, young nerds and use of your ignore list. A lot.
