  1. Why do people bother with green dragons? Blues are easier to kill, they can be found in non-wildy locations, and their hides sell for more. Am I missing something?

:? Why so? Because you might as well gain slayer levels as well as range levels. Personally, I get a slayer task whenever I train *any* combat stat. As far as your original question goes, I have no idea.. You could come up with a really rough estimate by ranging with knives for an hour or so and seeing how much exp you get compared to how many knives you use (lose). Example: You start with 1000 knives and after an hour you have 750 knives and have gained 4000 range experience. This means that you gain 4000/(1000-750) or 4000/250 or 16 range experience per knife. Figure out how much experience you need to get 70 range and then divide by 16. Since you can assume that you will get more experience per knife as your ranging level goes up, your estimate will be on the high side (you will need fewer knives than you calculated). The numbers used in the above example are total bs, but hopefully you get the idea.
  3. I don't know about "fastest" but fire bolting them while wearing chaos gauntlets, anti-dragonfire shield, and using anti-fire potions seems to be the best way. Take a look at this thread: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=459852
  4. Are the numbers being given assuming that the arrows are picked up or not?
  5. ..or just add them to your ignore list and don't interact with and/or talk to them any more.
  6. Are you saying that you don't know how to pick flax? The field is just south of seers bank which is just west of Camelot. Pick 1000 flax, go to seers bank and trade your flax for 1000 bowstrings (people do this because they want crafting experience). Sell the bowstrings for 200k, buy 2k flax at 100ea, repeat. You can also earn money by running laws on world 66, buying water filled vials in Ardougne, or by picking snape grass on the island south of the crafting guild.
  7. So for that combo you need 85 Mage minimum. So lets say I'm using Ice Blitz. You TB me, I blitz you, You entangle me, I blitz you, You Charge, I blitz you, You finally attack and I already got 3 shots off. That can be up to 78 Damage worth of shots for me. You realize your going to get owned? Wait 15 Seconds and I'll just let you move 1 step because I'll be continuing to Blitz you. This is tactic for pking green drag killers and rcers. You dont entangle a mage anyway unless its running away Rofl, you don't even need a tactic vs people training. Yes, their 4 Lobsters are definetly going to set you back, and create a huge challenge to kill.. You do need to stop them from simply teleporting away. While training at the green dragons, I fear a normal mage with teleblock much more than I do an ancient mage.
  8. Maybe you could have the option to build a crypt in your house and fill it with your victims' bones (skulls). If Jagex is going to allow pking (virtual murder), then why not also allow collecting trophies from victims.
  9. When I got my magic high enough level to use teleport spells, I wanted a reliable source of law runes. Among other reasons, I became a member so that I could run laws on world 66. Looking back, it seems like a lame reason to become a member, but that's why it happened for me. :)
  10. Every once in a while, someone will want to buy gold bars, when that happens, sell them. I have had some success buying rubies, emeralds, and sapphires (by advertising on the Runescape forums) and then making recoil rings, duel rings, rings of forging, and games necklaces. None of these items "sell like hotcakes", but they do sell, you'll get crafting and magic experience, and you can make a small profit. In my experience, rings of forging are the easiest to sell, followed by the duels and recoils. I don't bother with diamonds, they're too expensive and the jewelry doesn't sell well. None of the amulets sell in bulk, don't make them. Be patient when selling. Sometimes I think I'll never sell my rings, then *boom*, someone buys 100 at once. I always advertise duel rings when I'm fletching at castlewars, it would probably be effective to advertise forging rings while smleting at port p or another popular furnace. Always advertise on the Runescape forums.

I'd think they'd be extremely popluar as they'd end up looking like sweatbands. "Gilded" would be even better. Oh yeah, and what is the deal with no trimmed/gilded black d'hide?!?! Of all of the the colors, this would look the coolest trimmed/gilded and people might actually wear and use it (most people wearing green and blue are on a mad dash to red and then black). Don't even get me started on snakeskin!! What the heck is that all about!! :) Sorry, I know I strayed way off-topic here.

I always just go to the chicken coop east of Lumby on any busy f2p world and buy for 5ea. If you're really cheap (cheaper than me and that's cheap!), there are several fishing shops that stock 1000 or more and sell them for 2ea.
  13. Just a quick comment on this : I use the same tactics at the safe as I do when thieving the master farmer at draynor. Wearing nothing but a games necklace, I crack the safe until I am very low on hps, bank my gems and gps, crack until death, and then telly back to games room. No food needed. Personally, I think the quickest way to get gems is to go to a busy f2p world and buy there. Does that count? :D
  14. I wish I'd get a green dragon slayer assignment.. Anyhow, this is the equipment that I use when fighting the green dragons that are just nw of Edgeville. Equipped: Black d'hide body Black d'hide vambs Rune Legs Dragon Long Wizard hat Anti-dragonfire shield Gnome amulet I don't wear a cape, but you can wear a legends or god cape if you have one. In inventory: Ectophial Prayer potion Range potion Anti-poison Black chaps Steel knives Several sharks The rest lobbies I eat the lobbies when the dragons damage me. I eat the sharks if I need to heal when attacked by a pker. While fighting a dragon, if I see trouble, I put on my black chaps and turn on magic prayer before the dragon is dead. When the dragon dies, I switch to knives. If I'm attacked, I sip the range pot and let them have it with the knives. At some point, these guys will switch to a dds and start specialing you. Switch to melee prayer when this happens. Make sure that auto-retal is off. Make sure that when you switch to knives, it is on rapid. Click on knives, then dlong, and back again to test this. I always use the dlong attack style required to make this seemless, but you can switch manually if you want. You can keep arrows equipped and keep a msb in your inventory instead of the knives if you want. I walk to and from edgeville. If you find that my setup leaves too little space for dhides and bones, then leave some of the pots at home. The best defense is a good offense. Fight back and these guys will usually crumble. If you don't want to fight, then just use the ectophial, it's a life-saver.
  15. Your comment wasn't mindless, it was just a little insensitive. You're right that the idea was essentially fletching, but I thought you simply could have ignored it rather than make the "snarky comment" that you made. No real harm done, nobody meant to be mean, right? Ok, group hug and get selling some stuff! :) Who wants to buy a spinach roll for only 2 mil? :D
  16. Thanks for the suggestion, but you clearly don't understand just what marchanting is ... Way to insult someone who was trying to be helpful.
  17. 1000 magic log 0150 bowstring 0300 nat ----- 1450 total cost 1536 high alch value of a yew long 86 gp profit. Whenever I see someone selling mage logs, I offer 800ea for the heck of it. People will frequently sell for that because it is much harder to find mage log buyers than it is to find yew buyers. 286 gp profit while gaining nice fletch and magic experience? Now that's what I'm tawkin' aboot.
  18. Because of high alchemy, people are always buying yews. Go to world 1 and stand just west of west varrock bank. Buy yews in all quantities for 200 to 210ea. Eventually, you will hit the jackpot and someone will sell you 10k or more yews at once. Once you have as many yews as you can buy, advertise them in the Runescape forums for 240 to 250ea. As long as you are diligent about bumping your post, they will sell (it was taking me about an hour to sell 30k or so). If you buy at 200ea and sell at 250ea, you make 1 mil profit for evey 20k yews that you sell. While selling my yews, I would fletch some and buy flax / bowstrings. Yew long (u)s sell for 300ea and people love to buy long(u)s with matching bowstrings. There are people (at seers) who will trade you bowstrings for flax (which is an instant 50ea profit). In other words, keep yourself busy while you wait for people to respond to your post. Heck, I even made and alched yew long (s) while I merchanted. I primarily used this technique to go from about 2 mil to 12 mil (wanted a santa hat - no, I didn't pay 12 for the santa) in a short period of time. A red santa hat bought with "blood (autoer) money"? :D To a much lesser extent, I bought zammy pages for 200kea and sold for 250kea. I dabbled in other treasure trail items (full wiz t and g, black cavs, ranger boots, etc), but the yews were a much, much quicker and effective way of making money. When the RS economy fully rebounds, maybe treasure trail stuff will be viable again. Pay attention to prices and be aware of the risks. Jagex is bound to do something about the yew autoers sooner or later, what will this mean if you are holding 40k yews when a change is made? Who knows, could be bad, could be good (in the case of ess, a member holding a ton would have been a huge boon!). Prices have been all over the place lately because of construction. I'd say that, in general, they have bottomed out and are now heading back up. All of my ideas assume that you are p2p. If you are f2p, I can't help ya man. I have huge respect for people who prosper in f2p, that's a tough life. :) Ok, is there any doubt that I'm a huge nerd? :D

Speaking of camo, does anybody else think that they recently made the drill sergeant random more common? I recently got the pants to complete my full set and I see quite a few people wearing full camo these days. In the past, I don't remember seeing people wearing full camo, but then again, maybe I wasn't paying attention. Not sure what you get after full set, but I'll post if I get the random again.
  20. Moss giants are easy to hit and have a good amount of hit points. I always trained on the ones nw of Ardougne. There's a safe-spot just left of the fire there that allows you to fire at any of 4 different giants. The Ardy bank isn't far away. Once you get 50 or so range, switch to the waterfall fire giants if you like. Some people range the moss giants on "moss giant island". I haven't been there personally, but it may be good as well.
  21. Wow, how nice to see that demonfirzen was able to survive due to the helpfulness of a tip-it reader. Good job eddieperfect! A quick question : I always thought that if I got poisoned and then logged out, I would just take damage as if I were logged in and die while I was logged out. From reading this thread though, it looks like I thought wrong. Do you really stop taking damage from poison when you log out?
  22. Have you tried Leester's Guide to Beginning Farming? Personally, I found it to be very helpful and easy to follow. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=299633
  23. I went from 50 to 70 mostly on the moss giants nw of Ardougne. I liked them because there is a safespot to the left of the fire giving you 4 moss giant spawns to choose from. Completely brainless training. Some people range the moss giants on "moss giant island". I imagine it's good there as well, maybe less crowded than my old spot. If you have high enough slayer, bloodvelds are awesome because there are safespots, they have high hit points and very low resistance to range, and they drop blood runes. There was a point when I decided that if I was going to train range, I might as well train slayer as well. Kalphites, Trolls, Jellies, and Lessers are all easily rangable slayer assignments. For fires, I prefer the west room in the waterfall dungeon. I've never liked ogres because I feel that their drops aren't that good and are too infrequent. Maybe I've been ranging the wrong ogres. :)
  24. There is a farming shop in Catherby that sells plant cure. When I need vials, I go there and buy all the cure that I can hold and then empty the vials as I walk to the Catherby bank. I did all of the quests that give major herblore experience and then made strength, restore, and tons (400) of energy potions to get myself to level 45. I tried herb collecting and farming for a while but eventually gave up and just bought a ton of harralanders on world 2 to get the job done.
