    70 range

I always liked the Moss giants nw of Ardougne. There is a safespot there that gives access to 4 giant spawns. They are easy to hit, drop decent stuff, have a lot of hit points, are not dangerous, are pretty close to a bank, and aren't as busy as the fire giants. If you have the slayer level to do it, bloodvelds are great range fodder. Personally, I did what the first poster in this thread suggested, I ranged slayer assignments. It's not the fastest range experience, but you level two skills rather than just one.
  2. Do you actually use that technique, and if so, are you able to keep count well enough to make it effective? I've never bothered to try because it seems like too much effort to try to count the number of shots taken (when I could be half watching tv or browsing forums instead).
  3. For those that don't have a d hally, I used Iban Blast to kill one. I have a feeling that I could have easily used a less potent spell (fire blast).
  4. If you thought that was annoying, wait until you get to the part where you've got to grab the goutweed. :D
  5. To get the greegrees needed for Recipe for Disaster, I was planning on doing the following: Range the ninja monkey near the jail (complete). Use Iban Blast on one of the gorillas in the temple. Kill any old zombie monkey in the ape atoll dungeon. The one that worries me is the gorilla. My combat isn't all that high so I thought a good spell would do the trick, does that seem like a good plan? (protect melee on at all times of course)
  6. You kill whatever type of monkey you want a greegree for, grab its bones, buy a monkey talisman from the runeseller in Ape Atoll, and then take them to the guy who made the greegree that you used while doing the Monkey Madness quest. I'm not sure about soloing the giant gorilla, I only made a ninja monkey greegree so that I can use the agility course (no bank space left for anything that isn't practical).
  7. I don't know if you can range him "over" it, but you can definitely get him stuck on one of the corners. Once he's stuck, you can stand at an adjacent corner and range him without worrying about him getting too close to you.
  8. Fat_slug has the right idea. The demon attacks with magic and melee. That said, I put protect from magic prayer on before I equipped the sigil. I was then teleported to the battle area and never took a single point of damage. As long as you don't let him get close enough to melee you, you won't get hurt. Forget the canon, just use a magic short bow or a crystal bow if you have one.
  9. It took me about 500 tokens to get bronze, about 500 to get iron, about 300 to get steel, and then I got black almost immediately after that. I'm in the process of collecting more tokens right now so it'll be interesting to see how the rest of the defenders go.
  10. My santa hat. I'm relatively new to Runescape and have wanted one ever since I started playing. I finally managed to buy one when they dropped after contruction was released. My quest related armour and weapons. Items that can only be obtained or purchased upon the completion of somewhat difficult, lengthy, or annoying quests. Legends cape, crystal bow, dragon scimitar, ancients staff, etc.
  11. From the Runescape Knowledge Base: Saradomin Strike: Aside from the incredible damage inflicted, Saradomin Strike can cause the targets Prayer to be temporarily lowered. Claws of Guthix: Aside from Claws of Guthix's damage, the spell can temporarily cause the opponents Defence level to be lowered. Flames of Zamorak: Aside from the power of the Flames of Zamorak, the spell can also cause the targets Magic level to be lowered.
  12. I'm not sure that playing WoW is a good option for someone trying to quit Runescape.. :) Talk about jumping from one fire to another! One thing that I do to try to limit my Runescape play time is to force myself to "earn" it : I don't allow myself to play Runescape on any given night unless I've done my exercise for the day. Sometimes I don't feel like playing after doing the exercise and if I do, at least I've also done something "good". I used to be totally addicted to a mud (an all text game from way back, same general idea to RS). I decided that I wanted to quit so I gave my password to another player and let him go on a pking rampage with my character (pking was illegal on this particular mud). My account was perma-banned / deleted and although I came back with other accounts from time to time, I eventually quit for good. That said, getting banned is a somewhat effective way to quit (but not very nice). I love your other guide about "Being Cool" btw.
  13. Powermining is mining strictly for experience. Ore is mined and then dropped or traded to another player instead of taken to a bank.
  14. Yes. I used protect from melee prayer against every boss and only cast bolt spells using chaos guantlets. You could do the same with your stats.
  15. Nevermind, I had better luck searching for "Saradomin Strike" and found that the god staffs cannot autocast god spells.
  16. Earlier today, I finally went out and got myself a god staff (the saradomin one) and, unless I'm doing something wrong, I didn't see sara strike listed among the spells that the staff can auto-cast. Am I missing something or does one have to manually cast the god spells? I tried searching through these forums for "god staff", but so many threads contain both of those terms that the results are unusable.
  17. I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but, very roughy what is the frequency of the dragon breath special and what is your highest hit with it? I'll totally understand if I am scolded for asking this question because no, I didn't use the search button. :)
  18. The easiest way to estimate the amount of experience you will earn is to use your knives on whichever monster you choose for an hour. Note your range experience when you start and at the end of the hour see how much experience you earned and note how many knives you lost. Once you know how much experience you earn on the average per knife (amount of exp gained in one hour divided by number of knives lost in one hour), you can calculate (roughly) how much experience 100k knives will get you (you'll earn a little more than the calculations will show because you will get more exp per knife as you gain levels).
  19. Nice guide, I'm going to try this for sure. viteck: You say that one stops burning tuna at level 65 and lobs at 74. Are these numbers with or without cooking gauntlets?
  20. Your first question is hard to answer, here's a very, very rough estimate: You get 4 range exp for each point of damage you deal. Let's say you so an average of 3 points of damage per knife. That's 12 range experience per knife. That's 120,000 range experience. But you pick up your knives. If you lose 1 knife in 4, you will have 7,500 knives left. That's 90,000 range experience. Keep repeating the math and you'll eventually have an answer. Feel free to adjust the average damage and/or the rate at which knives are lost. Another way to get your answer is to pick the monster you will be ranging on, note your current range experience, range it the monster for an hour or so, and then see how many knives you lost versus how much experience you gained. Once you know how much ranging experience you earn per knife on the average, you will know roughly how many knives you will need to get whatever experience is necessary to get from level 60 to level 70 (and you will actually need less knives than this as you will do more damage per knife as you gain levels). Man I feel like a nerd right now. :P For the second part, iron knives on blue dragons at your level isn't going to work out so well. Blue dragons have pretty darned good range defense so you aren't going to hit that often. When I was your level, I used knives on the moss giants nw of Ardougne. There is a safespot there that gives you access to 4 different giant spawns, the bank isn't far away, moss giants have terrible range defense, and they drop nature runes and decent seeds.
  21. After buying a hat back in June, I started checking prices every now and then and then jotting them down. 06/15/06 : 11.1 mil (prices dipped due to addition of construction skill) 08/15/06 : 20.0 mil 08/24/06 : 22.5 mil 08/28/06 : 25.6 mil (santas skyrocket on news of cursed_you ban) 08/30/06 : 26 mil (it'll be interesting to see if we see a slight dip as the cursed_you news gets old) 08/31/06 : 25 mil (suprise, suprise) 09/05/06 : 25.75 mil 09/07/06 : 25.5 mil 09/12/06 : 25.4 mil 09/15/06 : 25.4 mil Hat prices rose about 10 mil from 6/15 to 8/15 and then about 5 mil from 8/15 to 9/15 so if things continue at that rate prices will hit 50 mil in 5 months. Hard to say that with confidence though as my sample size isn't very large yet. The above info comes from my blog.
  22. Unless someone is willing to trade you some regular chef's delight for your mature chef's delight (as doomster suggested), you are going to have to make another batch for use in making a barrel for your POH. The same thing happened to me when I brewed my first batch for my POH. :/ I'm not sure where you are doing your brewing, but it goes much quicker when you brew in Keldegrim than it does in Port P.
  23. That's pretty much what I did.. At first, I tried to sneak around and time it right, but eventually I just gave up and went directly to the herb. Just hang in there and take a break if you have to.. You'll get it.
