Thing is... Magic level DOES effect mage defense. =; From the Runescape Knowledge Base: What affects my magic defence? Magic defence depends on your magic skill level, defence level and the magic equipment you are wearing. The higher your skill levels and magic bonus, the less likely you are to get hit. You will also receive less damage from a spell.

The results of that can vary depending on how much you hit... the only REALLY CONCLUSIVE way would be to get a video from before the update, and compare the rates while playing the video and wearing the exact same outfit. :shame:

That would be me... see sig. :lol: Anyway, doing some math, you'd be able to hit 62.4 damage on jad. Not bad... but as others have said, there's no reason to do it that way. The crossbow's aren't reliable enough to make it 'safe'. Crystal bows and X-Bow are known to work fine, so if it ain't broken, don't try to fix it. :

Well, if you had a TON of people to bring you recoils and food, you could do Shadow of the storm and put that 10k exp into Def... Also, do Shilo and One Small Favor, and put the reward exp from that into def... However, doing quests using only recoils IS a bit difficult... :lol:

Depends on if the exp is ALL from combat training or if some is from quests. Also depends on how you train mage. :wink:

I think the whole article was bogus, for the simple reason that DRAGON IS NOT THE BEST WEAPONS AND ARMOUR IN THE GAME. I'd like to see his research done again, accounting for the fact that BARROWS WEAPONS AND ARMOUR ARE BETTER, and require 70 attack/defense, as opposed to 60. =; :shame:

To clarify: What's happening in that screenie is that he lit a fire right outside the wall, and started cooking while standing ON THE FIRE, FACING THE WALL. When you do that, you lean through the wall at certain camera angles. :lol:

Naw... Ruby (E) can hit 70 on the Chaos Elemental. :shock: :lol:

As the last guy said, you watch Jad's feet. When he slams them down fast, change to protection from ranged. If he stands in the air, protection from magic. The reason he didn't bring teles is becuase if you die, you simply appear outside the cave with all your items. :)

I could see it happening if he somehow completed a ton of exp-giving quests... however, there aren't very many good combat giving quests in f2p... :-k
