  1. Either way, have you any inkling of who the line-up of prospective buyers might be? Off-hand? No. I'm not close enough to the ground to know, for sure, who would be looking to this kind of purchase. There's a fair number of game manufacturers -- not to mention media empires -- who are all chomping at the bit to own a "highly successful" MMORPG. That said, I've been lobbing this theory out there since Jagex rigged set up the vote to return the Wildy and Free Trade into the game. All these little nudges and winks speak to me of an impending sale -- or at least a desire to sell -- of the Runescape franchise.
  2. If I was a betting woman -- and I am not -- I'd wager that you're not far from the truth here. My own theory, which is mine, and what it is too, is along these lines, namely: [bly's Theory] The powers that be, i.e. those that currently own and operate Jagex, intend to sell "Runescape", in the not too distant future to a third party purchaser, and as a result, the more "active memberships" that the game maintains, the more "valuable" the game is in terms of final sale value. [/bly's Theory] That is my theory, and what it is too, and it's mine.
  3. The thing is though, you will take it. You won't be happy, but you'll take it. You're jagex's [bleep]. They can do so many bad things and allow them to continue, you won't quit, you're too dedicated to the game to quit now. And that's why they get away with what any other entertainment company would be destroyed in seconds for, you can't simply boycott them, you're addicted. Now you're just depressing the hell out of me ...
  4. I can explain it to you, but I cannot understand it for you. Let's take an example: Say you're going to power-level construction, and you've decided that you want to obtain the specialized clothing for that whopping 2.4% boost in construction. Now – let me ask you the following questions: How much time would it take you, doing Temple Trekking, to obtain the specific items required to get the whole 2.4% boost? Would it take more than the 20 minutes to obtain those items doing Temple Trekking, than it'll take you in just straight-forward power-levelling? Would it cost you more than the materials required to obtain that final 288k xp than it would in food, potions and equipment to do that last 20 minute 288k rush during power-levelling? Is there something else – some other activity, either in-game or IRL – that you'd RATHER be doing, that you'd enjoy doing more than Temple Trekking, than spending that additional time Temple Trekking to get those items that really serve no purpose whatsoever? Would that "something else" be more "fun" than doing Temple Trekking? Answering yes to ANY of the above questions, proves my point: the update is "mostly useless" ...
  5. Welcome to botscape? :shades: I've mentioned numerous times that what Jagex may need to wake themselves up, is a group of people to finally say, "I'm mad a hell and I'm not going to take it anymore", and to finally start rioting about the whole botting debacle. I wonder how long this riot will last?
  6. You totally overlooked the applications of the unlimited druid pouch, the two new shortcuts and burgh de rott teleport. Plus the valuable rewards at the end of each trek eg hard tokens given torstols a fair bit. And its just downright boring so see yet more it's not game-breaking awesomely epic stuff that is the best ever therefore its useless drivel. We get it already you people aren't happy to just enjoy FUN stuff and have to nitpick holes in everything as they don't make giant bounds forward in the metagaming world of efficiency; we don;t need to spread you're apathy on to every single update thread. The game is fun, the rewards are useful. Uh -- sure -- the game is "fun". The rewards are useless. You can do better with your time to garner far better rewards and have more fun in other ways.
  7. Because botting involves a 3rd party client playing for you, while this doesn't. Ooh! Ooh! Maybe this is all part of Jagex's super-secret-mega-awesome-OMG-they're-gonna-catch-the-bots scheme?
  8. Well -- to be honest -- I'm pretty sure they jumped the shark when they brought in the "revamped" smithing update ... Well - there's a problem with that idea -- namely: if they allot loyalty points for this, then they make the "Jack of Trades" aura more readily accessible, which is going to topple the applecart a lot more than this proposal ever will.
  9. Well now that we've all had enough time to fiddle around with this recent update let's look at the numbers for this "epic update": Construction Clothes: A full set of construction clothing will save you roughly 2.4% which means that, considering the 12 million xp from levels 70 to 99, it will save you approximately 288k. How much time is THAT while powerlevelling at 600k per hour? 25 minutes? Hmmm - you're better off not bothering. The new Ghast familiar well, not to be a party pooper, but it's going to be pretty much useless. Sure, the address prayer boost and prayer points are nice, but in the case of most PvM situations where one needs to pray, it's certainly going to be better to bring a unicorn or a BoB than a Ghast. Otherwise, you're sacrficing time camping for time banking. Ok - visually speaking the upgrades are good. The F2P areas that have the "new" trees all look very nice. The atmospheric changes to Morytania are nice. The ghasts and Vyre look good. On the whole, the entire upgrade has taken what was a totally useless activity and made it "mostly useless" which, I guess, means it's a improvement ... ... albeit not much of one ...
  10. Otherwise, nice try Jagex Wait what? If the familiar is "hidden" and the timer on it is "paused", can you still bank the contents of your "BoB" while in the GE?
  11. Ding! Ding! Ding! This is me to a tee. Immediately after leaving combat, my FIRST objective after banking is to restore my prayer and summoning points to max levels. Also - my bank is THOROUGHLY organized. Everything in it's place and place for every little thing. Each time I bank, I make sure that everything goes back in its applicable space.
  12. ... or perhaps you should just ask in the clan chat and come along with Rei and I? After Rei and I finish our current cycle, we can add you (and Jumper) to the circuit? Just sayin' ...
  13. Personally -- I'd like to see them add something to Trouble Brewing. It was always a "fun" activity but, with so few useful rewards, it's not very popular and seldom played anymore ...
  14. Syzygy? Yes -- that's the one! Thanks!
  15. I haven't read this entire thread, but has anyone mentioned "Summer Sleep" or any of the other well-known "skillers" like "Zzzamorak"? ... oh and what was the name of that one player who was totally F2P and had 99 in all the F2P skills?
  16. I found this today:
  17. Some do yes, but they're in the minority.
  18. Well -- that's gonna suck ... <_<
  19. Can you max out at only one resource, or can you max out at more than one?
  20. Arguably the "xp/hr" ratio is irrelevant anyways. Sure it's probably not as efficient as other "player-operated" methods but if someone cared about doing it efficiently, then they wouldn't bot.
  21. I think the better term you and Rocked are looking for is "efficiency" ... Bots aren't necessarily efficient and they don't have to be. They simply "do things" -- in particular, those things that one would rather not be doing themselves. <_<
  22. If there are bots that do TDs flawlessly, a Nex bot can just as easily be created... Trust me. I brought this idea up less than six months ago -- and the two of you scoffed at it back then. Now Ring says he'll bot and you say it's entirely possible ... <_< ----====---- The three of us have had this discussion so many times now, I have lost count. For me, the problem with bots always has been, and remains, the inevitability of the "Bot Event Horizon" problem. For those of you not familiar with Douglas Adams, I shall reiterate said theory for you: The Bot Event Horizon is an economic theory that draws a correlation between the level of grinding to raise skills and make money within a game ("happiness") and the number of bots the game endures ("depression"). The theory is summarized as such: as the amount of grinding required to increase (happiness) levels increases, the players of the game need to improve their characters (relieve depression) by using bots. As more bots are used in the game, more complicated bots are made, and the quality of the game-play begins to diminish because, in order to keep up with the better bots, more people have to bot in order to access the high level content (i.e. get more money and achieve better levels and obtain better equipment to by-pass the depressing feeling of being left behind other players who bot) – and the demand for more bots increases. This makes people use more bots. This turns into a vicious cycle, the end result being that, ultimately the only players in the game are bots – and the Bot Event Horizon is reached. At this point, the game ceases to function as it stops being "playable" ... ----====---- In the end, Jagex has really only two possible solutions: 1. To actively work at actually stopping the bots themselves – which Jagex has demonstrated, time and again, that they are simply unwilling or unable to do; or 2. To reduce the "grind" of acheiving higher levels – in a manner similar to MapleStory's Big Bang – and make it easier to access high level content within the game.
  23. Can a bot solve a slider puzzle like the ones found during a clue?
