I think that is the overall point. Video games will still be around no doubt about that, but video games as we know them mayby not. 15 years ago mario was the game. know alot more advance. IMagine 50 years of technology to expound on it? :P There is a large psychological theory about this. I don't remember the exact name but to explain it quickly, basically there is a point when video games become too realistic and people don't want to play them. There is a part of the mind that wants to know that a video game is not real, and when games reach the point of being a second reality, people stop playing. Peoples minds want to know that what they're doing is not real. When a game gets too realistic, the mind can't decide what is real and what is not. So your theory of imagining games with 50 years of technology may not be correct. Games will come close to the point of perfect realism but will not go any further. Who knows, we might be getting close now. This is only a theory so it can be proven wrong but it was taught when I took a college class on psychology. And I believe that many psychologists strong agree with it. I really didn't thinkof that. I know many people who play video games to escape from there real life. I guess there wouls be a point where the consumer woud want no part of it because it could be to Real, no where to escape? That is a sad fact. In many of the future movies though that i have seen (not quite on the collage level =P) many people liked the realaty of a real life sim. That way they can pretend they have a btter life than what they really have. Could the future of games to be like this?
