Well, mage logs sell for 1k, bowstrings for 180 (sometimes less) and nats for 300 (unless you craft them yourself). Mage longs alch for 1536ea meaning if you buy all you will make 56gp per bow. I have seen longs sell for 1300 ea (this is less certain) making you 120ea but no mage xp. You can sometimes get logs cheaper an bow strings can go for as little as 150. Obviously anything you cut or craft yourself is more profit to you. Your call. df

Mining coal I would say coal trucks west of Seers, but I'm no expert and I'm sure opinions will vary. Iron, I'm not so sure but I have heard people say Yanille is good. For smelting Al-Kharid, is my favorite although I'm a bit of a newb and apparently Port Phasmatys is better. I have always smithed in Varrock because the anvil is about 5 meters from the bank. df

Values? What do they mean and do you feel you have them?
dogfever replied to Greedom1's topic in General Discussion
I can see a couple of issues being discussed here, firstly the attitude and honour of those playing the game and using forums and secondly the attribution of value to different player characteristics. For the first point I will only say that with so many activities juvenile and petty attitudes are clearly in evidence, although I would say still in the minority in both f2p and p2p, especially among higher levels. As for value, I think value is unduly associated with possesions for two reasons, firstly as a virtual game possesions and skills are the most easily measurable and demostrable qualities of a player. The mistake made is to confer any respect, beyond that due for tenacity and hard work, upon the player being rated. Secondly the high regard for wealth is something of a reflection on the capitalist nature of the societies in which we live, predominantly western / first world asian I would imagine. I personally only respect players who are polite and helpful on the boards or with whom I have had good experiences in game. As a first glance combat level can indicate the likelihood of noobish behaviour but it is not a definitive measure by any means. In brief value is worth nothing compared to respect, because respect can't be bought, only earned. df -
Watch out monsters here we come *SODB* [U]
dogfever replied to fearspudgod's topic in Clan Discussions
Arrgh! This is exactly the sort of stuff that looks so much fun on RS. I'm off to train combat solidly for six months until I'm good enough to do this stuff! Great idea btw. This might be a bit more popular than you had expected. Not enough clans push slaying events imo :D [jealousy]Have fun[/jealousy] df -
This is based solely on reading posts on these boards but I would think that barrows will take a good while longer with a far higher initial investment on your part. Although I guess it would be like a million times more fun than fishing sharks for two weeks! df

I agree with you, my statement was misleading. I don't know exactly how JaGex calculates arrow loss, I would imagine, like most of these things there is a discrete probability of losing an arrow when it is shot, e.g. 0.2 as suggested by your experience. It is however unlikely that you will lose every fifth arrow, more that you stand a 20% chance of losing any arrow shot. Therefore for smaller numbers of arrows shot the actual number lost is likely to deviate significantly from the mean. However, over larger numbers of shots (like your 5000) the number lost will eventually stabalise at the mean. Although I do concede your point given the number of shots donut was talking about. I stand corrected :D df

I never trained at rock crabs because I wasn't in a rush for xp, I prefer slower xp and better drops. At 40 range I would say either Fally wall guards (lv22 dropping lv clues) or moss giants, Varrock sewers southern chamber is good for safe spots and not often overly busy assuming you are p2p. I usually stay down there till I get a full invent of worthwhile stuff, reasonable prayer xp too. For combat I use slayer tasks because it moves you about a bit and lets you do longer stints of training because you have a goal to aim for (next task) sometimes you get rubbish but its been ok for me. df

Its impossible to say exactly because hits are not of constant value, therefore xp per arrow is not constant, likewise if you pick up your arrows the number you will lose will vary. If you make some approximations then Goobore's method will give you a reasonable answer: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=434814 df

About to become member...where do i start?
dogfever replied to Crusader_13's topic in Help and Advice
I guess it all depends on what floats your boat really. If you are a skiller then there are loads of opportunities to level up f2p skills quicker in p2p plus some pretty cool new ones to try your hand at (Agility is a bit boring to train but helps with virtually every skill). There are masses of quests if that's your thing, not mine but still, people like them. I would reccomend Gnome Stronghold and Gnome Tree for the free transport. After levelling to 50-70 in most f2p skills you might be getting pretty bored of levelling so why not take a break at some of the mini-games? (I sound like a package holiday brochure!) If you're a bit of a money hound then there are loads of profitable activities in p2p which I won't go into as every 2nd thread on the Help boards is along the line of 'How do I make X mil gp... I would definitely do Lost city for the dragon long and dds. Have a crack at Monkey Madness for the drag scimmy. Or you could do what I did, run around for a while starting random quests, get bored, train fletching, get bored, start training slayer... Low attention span is a curse :D Above all though, just enjoy yourself, try whatever you fancy till you find some things you like. Have fun df -
Mine silver and craft tiaras (53xp ea plus mining xp) Or kill cows and craft leather hard bodies (35xp ea) Speed depends on your mining skill and combat/agility(if p2p). df

Your best bet is on the Pick n' Apron bazaar board: http://forum.tip.it/viewforum.php?f=36 There isn't a price check sticky but you can probably get a good idea from posts on that board. Cowhide sells for about 100ea on f2p and I have seen it sold regularly for 150+ on the forums (in bulk obiously). The main problem is many players on f2p only sell in batches of 28 or less, often unnoted because they are often new. I think most people sell cowhide rather than tanned leather because it's easier to sell. Its not hard to pick up hides on f2p but it is often slow. Good luck df

*Realisation dawns* I see what you meant. Whether or not you have a lock pick you still need to have the right level to open the trunk, it doesn't change that. I always bought my lock picks in the rogues den. Talk to the guy called Martin something-or-other, he sells them in batches of 20ish. THe first time I did DT I went through loads of lock picks so buy plenty. df
-
Oh and its only lv 32 to pickpocket rogues. The 52 refers to the level at which they are found in the wildy.
-
You can buy lock picks in the rogues den or pick them up as a respawn in the agility dungeon. There is no skill requirement to use one as far as I'm aware but there may be a skill requirement on the lock to be picked. Don't write in CAPS next time, its is considered shouty and rude. df

Nope. I tried that and no joy :( You could try, I might be wrong but I'm pretty certain I had to let them transform first. In the end I stopped using Vannaka because all I ever got was werewolves and I was using too much food. I found Lost City was much better. df

At lv27 I was still training on the barbarians in the hall in the barbarian village. At about 30 I moved on to the lv22 guards on the fally south wall. No safe spots but they don't really hit that hard and they drop lv2 clues (I never got anything good mind :) ). I would train with iron knives on rapid. I smithed 10k of them and so far I have got to lv51 range and lost about 2.5k of them (picking up). df

help!! where are the lumbridge caves?
dogfever replied to grungemonkey182's topic in Help and Advice
Just south east of the adventurers (the warrior, mage, monk etc at the end of the fence behind lummy castle, near the water altar. Its marked with a (!) on the minimap. You'll need a rope and lantern too. df -
If you take enough runes (i.e. a lot for air bolt) you can. There are a lot of safe spots for both mage and range. It would take a while but you could do it. Anyway, if you wanted you could raise you mage much higher (68 until next lv) without gaining any more cb levels, so if you want to use stronger spells you can. df

Its level 32 thieving to pickpocket rogues. Rogues can be found in level 53 wilderness df
-
http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=373038 try here df

Buy them in the rogues den or pickpocket (lv32 theiving) rogues. They also repawn in the agility dungeon I think. df
-
If you go into the wildy just take 3 items. As long as you don't attack anyone you will be 'reborn' in Lumbridge with your three items if you are killed. (Coins do not count as 1 item, 100 gp is 100 items!). If you attack someone, even by accident, you will be skulled (a skull and crossbones over your head) if you are killed while skulled you will lose all but one item. If you bring more than three items the game will protect the three (or one if skulled) most valuable (in its opinion, not yours). df

Go into all the rooms on the top floor of the manor. They are on a table up there (the room south of the professor?) but they didn't show up for me on the minimap until I actually went into the room. df

If I understand you right you are asking about where to find or craft nats (nature runes). Nats are dropped by monsters e.g. moss giants or basilisks (requires slayer 40) but mostly they are crafted by players with 44(?) runecrafting. The nat altar is on karamja near shilo village although many people will use the abyss to craft quickly. df

When I started (2 months ago now) I found it all a bit confusing. I also jumped straight into the first quest I saw (Witch's House, all of five yards from the Taverly gate - still ahven't finished it, too much faff). Mostly I spent a while wandering round, looking lost and worrying a bit about dying. The hardest thing is keeping focussed on any one goal. I managed quite well with fletching but after that I ran around from one skill to another without much idea of what I was doing. I have found slayer to be a good way of doing things for several reasons: 1. It trains combat skills. 2. The drops help you with other skills (farming, herblore etc.) 3. It forces you to find new parts of the p2p map and do new quests e.g. death plateau (to kill Trolls) or The Golem (for fast access to desert lizards). If your combat is high enough I can thoroughly reccomend Gnome Tree Village and Gnome Stronghold quests for easy transport around p2p. The most important thing however is to spend some time just wandering about (bring a tele if you're worried about dying) looking at new stuff. Then get down to the business of training. df
