  1. I love these debates. I myself, am a Christian, but in a hypothetical sense: What if the God(s) we humans worship are our creators...but they're normal beings with their own gods. We're their little pets, their grade school science project. Their baking soda volcano, if you will. It's all very Matrix-y. I do believe life is all real, but...wow. I'm normally a deep thinker, but this is making my brain hurt. And your brain doesn't even have nerve endings!
  2. I met jimyjj *great guy miss him so much* and he gave me full iron and 1k. Then, he trained me. LOL, I called him "master" and it annoyed the crap out of him! Jimyjj, if you see this, mate, add Future_Uk!
  3. I've heard good things about Lunarpages. They give free $700 of CoffeeCup software, which is supposed to be nice. If you're using Mac or the almighty Linux, they work in WINE. I'm going to go with Dreamhost. Their rewards system (more bandwidth and storage each week you're with them and $97 a referral) is great. Some people say they oversell, but they mention noone consistently uses that much and that it helps customers' sites not go kaput from a Digg/Reddit/whatever bomb. Oh, and go with Linux. Your site will have a better uptime and consume less server CPU (Linux is more economical). That'll make your hosts happy. Also, I think the aforementioned hosts charge more for Windows.
  4. For any OS (well, the big 3, dunno about UNIX, but maybe Mac version, since MacOS is UNIX-based), you could use LiVES to edit your video. Also, I believe it has a screenrecorder...and it edits audio. It's like + + Audacity all rolled into one! Hail the power of Open Source! EDIT: That is the single funniest thing I've ever read on this forum. I won't berate you, I'll linkspam you. I'll give you explanations of why Linux is better, an example of a Windows-to-Linux migration, and a resource for more stories on Linux. Also, I'll ask why there's a Google Linux Search and not a Google Mac (link goes to software downloads for Mac or Windows (404 error) version. I'll also point at that both Tip.it and Runescape are brought to you by Linus Torvalds' "bollocks" (hehe gotta laugh at that phrase... Linus Torvalds' bollocks) invention. And it also powers the majority of the internet, as searching the Netcraft site (used for above reports) for most domains would show. Even Microsoft uses (and distributes for Novell) Linux on its backup servers because the boys in Redmond know it's more stable than Winblows. Bollocks, eh?
  5. Hey everyone, As I'm sure my fellow DV filmmakers know, there's the huge battle of DVD vs. HDD vs. SD vs. all-in-one for storage. I'd like to hear your opinions on which is best. I personally favor HDD, but I don't have a DVD drive, mind you. So, battle on, videographers, battle on! P.S. - No saying that analog owns digital and to just convert it through an analog-to-digital input system.
  6. red chin? What is that? Is he referring to a Dragon Chainbody?
  7. That's self-contradictory. You don't see what the dogs would do, but point out that cats do, well, absolutely nothing but a stupid quest and useless minigames. Imagine now, what a dog can do. It can aid in Hunter, tracking down and herding animals into your traps. It can aid in combat, fighting your enemies (not in PvP, mind you. Can come into Wild, but only attack NPCs), but only in multicombat areas. Going out on a limb, it could have a sack to hold a few (10-20) items. Bring Fido along with extra food whilst training! My dog has a saddle-like thing around her that we put water bottles in so she and us have cool water for breaks in walks. SO many possibilities. And a cat! A cat can...umm...eat rats and fish? Fight blindly to the death against a useless enemy? Waste a square of bankspace + 1 for catspeak ammy? At least it's worth its mettle in Death Runes!
  8. I just tried on pure and died. Didn't know about NW safespot or to get the door before going in...now I need nails and planks again! :( Does the NW safespot thing work?
  9. 1. If a friend from RL lent you a party hat to wear once and give back, would you take it? No! 2. If an ingame friend gave you his partyhat to wear then give back, would you take it? No. 3. If a rich person you hardly knew lent you his partyhat to wear and give back, would you take it? No. 4. If you knew someones password, and knew they were rich, would you take thier stuff? No. 5. Would you kill a skulled person in the wilderness for a partyhat? [self censored] YEAH! 6. Would you accept a duel with a much lower level that stakes all his money (say 5 mil)? All's fair in love and duels. 7. If someone died, and dropped something valuable, would you give it back. AND how valuable would it have to be for you to keep it? I wouldn't give it back. It's not my fault they died (and if it is, they shouldn't have had that in the Wild!) and I'll excercise my God-given right to loot things from dead dudes. Good topic.
  10. If they did do this (and it's a great idea) they should knock at least 50 US cents a month off of membership. This would be a great revenue maker and fan sites could advertise! Coal and Lobsters :P Red Lobster? Captain D's Buttered Lobster Bits? Long John Silver's? PKing in F2P never tasted so good!
  11. Support! Oh yeah, and since I'm an idiot and sometimes get lost, how about a "You are here" thing? Also, show all the green dots maybe, and on mouseover, show the player name, world, and level. Also, as pictured in OP, you could look for individual friends via list.
  12. True and the majority of IPs are dynamic. They change each time you turn your modem on again. So poor Joe Blow, who shares your ISP and plays RuneScape, gets the randomly assigned IP that was banned. He goes to log in and finds his poor self IP-banned. Not being technical (knowing about dynamic IPs), he a-ssumes he'll never be able to play again, cancels his subscription, and gets WoW. We don't want that happening, do we?
  13. Considered an autotyper, which is a macro, by RS definition. Why? It's faster to say "Buying x, y each! -- " than typing it. Moreover, just as you can't copy and paste in RS, I'm not sure a voice control system would work in an applet. It's a program within a program (browser) and the voice system wouldn't recognize it. That's why homebrew programmers and frustration exist. The Xbox has a hard drive, a connection, and an OS. It will have a browser made for it soon if there isn't somewhere already. If there isn't already, there will eventually be a homecooked (or cracked Internet Channel) browser which runs more than is currently supported. And there's USB wireless keyboards. And WL USBmice, which someone will eventually homebrew a program so the Wii can use them. (As you can tell, I'm a huge DIY/homebrew guy.) You can expect a solution for this. The Wii is the OLPC laptop for Americans! EDIT: I realized just now what the above sentence looks like. I'm referring to the low-cost, basically only for internet, One Laptop Per Child project. Its aim is to bring laptops (XOs) to third-world rural countries.
  14. This is one of the best suggestions I have ever seen. Support 1005 and let's hope it gets seen by TB@JT!
  15. If it has no mention of copyright, can't one simply put their suggestion under a license? Example: The GNU, MIT, or Creative Commons General Public License is applied to someones suggestion. JaGeX says: Hey! That's a good idea and begins development of it. All they have to do is in the announcement for the new feature, say that it was influenced by on a third-party site (no need to mention; they're stingy about that).
  16. Tip.it has popups? I'm using Opera so never seen any. Didn't in FF either with Adblock.
  17. Hey TIF'ers, I'm back, needing some help. I want to do Dragon Slayer on my [future] rune pure. But, I'm not much with quests and wondering if there's a good combination for these stats (no noncombats really...looking mostly for quests dealing with fighting or things I can buy): 10 Def 31 Pray 40 Attack 45 Strength 48 Mage 57 Range ANY combat exp (even defence, it's why I left at 10) quest rewards are useful. I should know this but I did Slayer on my main as a member, so not much with F2P quests. Thanks! Duty
  18. The title pretty much says it all. I'm on a low budget (about 400k) and I am F2P. I want to go from my current 45 strength to 70 (then I'm getting P2P). Stats (combat 46): 45 Strength 40 Attack 31 Prayer (also like monster to drop bones, need pray exp for 52 or 60) 10 Defence (gonna be a rune pure eventually) 51 HP 57 range and 48 mage (not that I think it matters, just wanted to include) [current] Equipment: Black full helm Amulet of Strength Cape Black chainbody Green D'hide vambs Black kite shield Green D'hide chaps Stronghold boots So does anyone have ideas as to the monsters I should train on, food I should use on them, and about how much it would cost? Complete answers only, please. If you like, you can use this: Thanks and have a great day, Duty
  19. I use Opera, and I don't have ads there. It might be my Norton (cause I'm running Winblows, I need it) Adblocker. See, the thing with JaGeX is they don't notice that most adblockers (not including the AdBlock Plus FF extension, which I loved before I stopped using FF, and similar) have odd ways to create exceptions. So basically it's block RuneScape ads, see ads everywhere, or turn it off just to play RuneScape. And seriously, beyond that it's a waste of time, who would voluntarily subject themselves to such eloquence as Zwinky, the fart button, fake polls that look like interactive flash ads but are static link images, punch the paparazzi, and FREE SCREENSAVERS which either suck or are for perverts only!
  20. Scars that was spam. Really off-topic and contributed nothing to the subject. I hope all your 500+ posts aren't like. :(
  21. Love that post. It's true. In my opinion, the low-substance quests are to appease the Miniclip-referred crowd with attention spans equal in minutes to their age in years. JaGeX, as companies could be expected to, has become all about the money. They have terrible foresight though, because they don't realize that they are driving away the longtime players and sensible paying members to try to get the Miniclip and Mofunzone crowds to pay for members. I'm sad to say though, if they looked at it as a Fortume 500 company and not as a company that cares for its longtime customers, it's all profit. I'm sure there's more senseless players from aforementioned partners than there are sensible players from RuneScape's actual site. You wouldn't believe how many people think RuneScape was made by Miniclip. :ohnoes:
  22. To me, it's just a bit more to load text-wise while opening the world select page. But I'm really annoyed. I use Opera, a fully standards-compliant browser, and sometimes the ivon besides a member world will be swapped with the little sword icons, whose spots are occupied by little gold stars. And sometiems other icons get swapped around and there's always annoying little bags of gold as a background on every line that has the "World Name, Activity, Population, etc." It causes rendering issues in most browsers besides Internet Exploder, methinks (haven't played in lately Firefox though, stopped using when 2.0.0.6 screwed me over with add-ons).
  23. I don't know when that show was on, but as a little kid I caught reruns of it on (I think) Cartoon Network. I kind of liked it, but then I realized later that the symbols and power associated with the rings were much like those used in the "Mother Earth" witch religions. The ones who thought that Earth was a goddess and all women are goddesses. They also thought the elements were the most important thing in the universe. Anyway, since I liked the theme song, I'll make you happy: http://tv-links.co.uk/listings/2/133
  24. My favorite thing about felines though is their complete emotional detachment from the people who own them. They are so cool they don't give a crap (besides in a box in your house...yuck) if you live or die. It's really a small inconvenience for them, as they now have to work to get food. I like cats, but what do they do to show affection? They make a noise that sounds a bit like a motorbike with the proper set of 500,000 mufflers (but that's another thing). They bring you "presents" of mice, rats, rabbits, and birds which are half eaten. They poop in a box in your house (mentioned before). And they're absolutely positively useless when a burglar or other mischevious do-no-gooder comes around. [sarcasm]I just love cats.[/sarcasm] well yeah, but so is stealing. Although I do agree, we shouldn't have hunting with dogs And murder, but enter..THE WILDERNESS AND COMBAT SKILLS. How about performance enhancing supplements? HERBLORE! What about chopping down trees on someone else's land? Or running around in metal armor screaming "NOOOOOB!"; I'd sincerely hope it'd get you thrown in a government loony bin. A lot of things are illegal in England...and the US...and Canada...and every other country in the world. People still do them. And it's a virtual game, so JaGex's real location shouldn't contribute to the laws of the game. And, it may be a redneck thing, but I've never used a hunting dog to KILL an animal, just to find small game (foxes, rabbits etc.) or retrieve dead bird. Also, isn't the UK famous for people on horses with dogs hunting foxes? Or was that only before a law passed sometimes last century?
  25. Really close, but mine has a stripe on her skirt and a ponytail. But I made what I thought she looked like [from the book descriptions], not how she was portratrayed by the (talented!) actress in the movies. I tried doing Harry, but he's worthless without his scar. So I changed the hair to red and called him Ron. Besides, my Harry and Ginny wouldn't have gotten to meet each other; that'd be multilogging!
