Manga/Anime Discussion
And yet they're mainstream and huge sellers. It's not that you don't like DBZ, Naruto, and Bleach, it's that you don't like the genre of action in it's most refined and quintessential form. Although, your summation of these shows is a little odd. In your partitioning you didn't actually include fighting. Let me rephrase that. You didn't include fighting as a part of DBZ. I think the biggest thing with GitS is that you really have to have an interest in the politics of the plot, because there is a lot that goes into understanding the fictional future governments and without that understanding or drive to think politically it's just an action show with some realistic futuristic tech and nice effects. I remember when I was younger I watched it and loved it for how thought provoking it is, but now that I'm older and can understand nearly everything that's going on (the techinal terminology requires at least a BS in CS to truly understand and the political discussions are beyond at a college liberal arts level), the show doesn't entice me as much because politics was never my thing. It's an acquired taste I guess. And I didn't really like Gundam either, but it's the paragon of mecha regardless.

DO IT. No, really. I don't know where you're going with that. Fraternity brother, not by blood. If my real brother had to say "no homo" I'd be weirded out too.

Aren't you that guy that doesn't like me? I can't blame you if you don't, but I'm confused. Straight up, are you being sarcastic? You don't have to respond if you don't want to, but if you feel like being honest about it I really am curious.

Manga/Anime Discussion
Along with Haruhi and Code Geass, the most overrated anime in existence right there. Those anmes actually deserve an anime fan's attention rather than crap like Naruto or Bleach. Really? Code Geass was a pretty [cabbage]ty way of copying and attempting to mix mecha and Death Note-esque intellectuality. If you want something thought provoking, try GitS. It's great for buffs of both sci-fi and politics. If you want mecha, go for Gundam. Now, if you want [cabbage]ty copycat mecha combined with fake intellectualism (wow, they can play chess and act like the battlefield plays like a chessboard, thought-provoking), then sure, go for Geass. God, I can't believe I watched both seasons of that. Geass was so [cabbage]ty it was even self-aware of it's own [cabbage]tyness, as evidenced by all the compensatory fan service. Haruhi I can't speak for. Not really a fan of the whole look-into-the-regular-life-of-Japanese-students thing. Not enough escapism there. Naruto and Bleach are great, you want to know why? Not because they're throught provoking, not because they are realistic, no. It's because they have a genre, action, and they do it [bleep]ing well. Like Dragon Ball Z of days old, the authors of these mangas know action. They know how to keep an audience on the edge of their seat, and they're great at character development to boot. Sure, the plots a little weird sometimes, and there's maybe a handful too many deus ex machinas throughout the series, but that's how the genre goes, and that's why they're at the top of the charts. Why am I even arguing for this. I'm pretty damn sure that you like Naruto and Bleach, but there's just something about being a "true anime fan" that won't allow you to touch mainstream. No need to respond to this point though, asa denial will be the same to me as not saying anything at all, as your word is worthless here.

This is why you only see reclusive nerds shooting up colleges and malls. "No homo" is merely a humorous and useful way of stating that something that can be construed as having homosexual connotations has none of the sort. For example, one of my brothers in my house told me the other day, "No homo, but dude, you have an awesome body. [i only noticed now because] It's hard to tell when you have a shirt on." Now, if he had said that without the humorous initial "no homo", the revealing of the elephant in the room, how odd would the statement have sounded? But he added the "no homo", and by doing so the joke was immediately put into the past, and I then took the complement with a thanks. So stop being so creepy. "Snap their necks"? Please don't go shoot up a mall, okay? Especially if you're a pacifist; for some reason I recall a lot of those shooters being pacifists, too.

Strip Searching A Thirteen Year Old
Okay, good, I suppose I was right to assume you made this thread with the right intentions. I still have to disagree with you though- ruling in favor of her would result in too many negative consequences within the court system just to placate one girl. Although, if you're not looking for monetary compensations, what are you looking for? An apology? You don't need the court for that... And if you are looking to have the people fired, I'd have to say that they're just following policy. Now, I think zero-tolerance is a little dumb, but they were just doing their jobs. And in regards to youthful idealism I'm referring to the court case; I agree that what happened was appalling.

Strip Searching A Thirteen Year Old
I've heard about this before. You know why I've heard about this before? BECAUSE IT HAPPENED SIX YEARS AGO. Talk about old news. Also, stop with the stupid youthful idealism, all y'all. In response to such chatter about the morality of the search, may I quote a Professor Arum: Do we really want to encourage cases where students and parents are seeking monetary damages against educators in such school-specific matters where reasonable people can disagree about what is appropriate under the circumstances? You can't just go around making ambiguous cases like this. Reality requires rules within a court of law, and when you let ambiguity seap in to the system the court ends up getting bogged down even more than usual, and the usual is bad enough as it is. Realistically speaking, no, she should not receive monetary damages or anything of the sort. In a perfect world, maybe she should, but this isn't a perfect world, so stop acting like it is one. Yes, this was extremely unjust and unreasonable. Thanks for circle-jerking about your great unaninimous morality. Now, if such a story is going to be necromanced, it can be only for one reason: to discuss the decision of the Supreme Court. So why is no one doing that? This is why I hate shock news. Even if magekiller had the right intention (which I'd find plausible), everyone's just too busy talking about how awful it is to actually get to anything important.

Breakfast and healthy life
I HAVE ASTHMA. Go play volleyball or something. Seriously. If you don't develop healthy exercise habits now when you're a teenager you probably won't as an adult, especially if you suck at every sport. You really have two options, come to enjoy a certain sport/exercse routine, or learn2run. Otherwise if you aren't fat now, you will be fat, guarenteed.

But 6% is low, moving towards unhealthy. I'm about 9-10% with a six pack, still got some fat on my lower stomach (and I suppose everyewhere else) but that's only healthy. But I would venture to say that 6% and lower is hard, bar those with anorexia. If you can look/be healthy and hover around those low numbers, kudos to you I guess.

Breakfast and healthy life
I'm healthy and have an awesome body. It really isn't that hard when you've still got your metabolism. And I tend to eat four full meals a day. But hey, I exercise and lift. A lot. Okay, I contributed. Now: Try going to bed a little earlier. Or hell, just get the f**k up in the morning. I'm terrible about getting up but I still managed to get up an hour early for my morning classes today after going to bed at 4am. Just get frikkin' up, and if you can't, sqweeze in breakfast after your first class. Your body needs a certain amount of food in the day, and if it isn't a healthy breakfast it's something else. Jesus Christ. I don't care if you're a fat chick, take up a real sport. Or run, but I personally find that boring.

I kind of feel like people are looking too hard for liars, myself included. So far in this thread I've noticed a surprising decrease in the number of blatant lies relative to many previous weight-lifting threads. Like I said, everyone embellishes, sometimes unconsciously, but thus far I have not noticed any serious lying. Maybe people are more tactful, I don't know, but this is probably the first strength thread I've seen in OT that isn't a joke. That being said, k1, what is off about his post? Yes, admittedly, the "hardcore" matter is a little ambiguous, as I noted, but nothing about his post seems all that out of the ordinary. His leg strength number comes from leg presses, not squats, and 500 pounds on inclined machines isn't that amazing (i.e., it's actually less than 500 pounds of resistance due to angling, cutting the weight in more than half). And his upper body strength, if those numbers are for benching, are low (or normal for his weight). I understand that there are liars on this thread, and that there always will be in future threads of this type, but c'mon man, find a better scapegoat. Or maybe not, if he's referring to squats with those numbers. If he is, then by all means, rat his [wagon] out.

Well, at least you're honest. Then it wasn't very hardcore. Especially considering you can't make it two miles without collapsing. Stop taking advice from Dragon Ball Z. chers.com.au/util/art/index_art.aspx?art_id=30861&tabnum=1&sc=3040&subnav=Making+Fitness+Work+for+You]That [cabbage] doesn't work. Weightlifting - Your RL STR Lvl :D
Take every number you see here and lower it by 10% (all numbers are embellished by 5% minimum). Unless you really think that person's a chronic liar, then try around 50%. Me, uh, I do six sets of eight doing 205 with squats, so my max is maybe 225 or 235? And I havn't benched in a year+, and the last time I did I was doing 140, so I guess I'm at 160ish now. I'm more of a core guy, never been one with great pecs. Which saddens me because the pecs, albeit an extremely, extremely useless muscle, are an important part of the ideal male physique in this day and age >_>. If such wussies could beat the ever living [cabbage] out of you, what does that make you? And don't tell me you could actually run away. Parkour is only useful in urban environments, and beyond that, most people who say they practice parkour really suck at it. Consequently, I doubt you are skilled enough for it to be any kind of useful. That's why tricking/acrobatic martial arts is so much better and awesomer. I can do a level-ground back flip. What can a parkour practicioner do? Jump over a three foot tall barrier. Ooooh. Scary.

0.999...=1 and why people believe it is false.
To minorly add to the validity of the following statement (not that it needs any), I'm currently attending one of the best Engineering schools in the nation of the United States of America, one that is also a part of an Ivy League institution, so I feel I can say this with a respectable amount of backing. Laura, hun, math isn't your strong suit.
-
0.999...=1 and why people believe it is false.
Ha, laura, that proof's pretty funny. It's a legitamite proof, but it seems a little weird that part of the proof utilizes the fact that 1/3 = .333... when it's attempting to prove that 1 = .999... . It's almost like circular logic, except the maths right so it really isn't.
-
0.999...=1 and why people believe it is false.
The jaziek proof argument was all just a misunderstanding of whether or not the nines were infinite. Still, in the context of this thread you'd think it'd be obvious that he was using .999... .

0.999...=1 and why people believe it is false.
Jaziek, ignore all the [puncture]s nitpicking the fact that you don't have an ellipse after the nines. Christ, I thought everyone here was supposed to be a nerd.
