Grades, GPA's; How do you do in School?
Generally, the people I know applied to around 5-10 unis. They will require a copy of your earlier school[snip..] diploma[], but it's not the only criteria (you mean your transcript?). First you need to know what degree you're going to pursue (err, vaguely... you kind of need to have a basic idea of what you like (i.e., engineering, business, science, etc.) but most people don't need to pick their degree/major until Junior year of college/uni). In almost all cases you'll need to write an application essay explaining why you should be admitted in (eh, yes and no... the essay is meant mainly to flesh you out, to make you more than just a few numbers and words on a piece of paper. An essay, depending on how well it's written, can make or break an application, especially at super-competitive schools like the Ivies) . If you were very talented in high school and have good references (2 or 3 teachers right a short essay about you for the colleges) , you may even get a scholarship & fully paid tuition (which can be a huge economic advantage, because some good universities charge $5000-$40,000 per year). (getting tuition payed for in full is very, very rare, but the vast majority of people get at least some form of scholarship/financial aid) If you apply for more specific degrees like master of arts, you will also need to provide examples of previous work you have finished (things like arts and hotel management are based more on things outside of general high school work, but the majority of applications are focused almost entirely on schoolwork and being a well-rounded person (work, extracurriculars, community service, etc.)). In addition, to be eligible you will usually have to obtain an ACT or SAT score prior to applying (for most places). At least where it concerns SAT's, there should be one each month in any given testing center (and generally the max is three times to take the test, any more uni's frown upon) . Are you from the US? You've got the right idea but you kind of sound like you're talking from Europe.

I don't really get it either. It must be a side effect of introvertedness and a geeky lifestyle or something.

No politics article will ever make you laugh as much
Was this written by a Republican or a Democrat? It's written with a slight sarcastic tone and goes a little over the top sometimes, but it makes a lot of good points that I personally swear by, especially when it comes to ragging on the current government. EDIT: Was that rant on the last link actually written by you? Dear Lord we better not ever debate politics. I don't think my respect for you could survive three posts of that. All he did was say that Democrats paint this nation as being a hellhole that is doomed to destroy itself, and he doesn't agree. No need to get all attacky about that, Jebas. EDIT2: 'kay, I read your kind rant, one that made very valid points and did not attack him unjustly at all. Respect is currently six feet under.

The Ultimate Question - Boxers or Briefs
Boxer briefs. Briefs are... eh, and boxers are basically an extra pair of shorts under your shorts (useful, eh?). Boxer briefs are both fashionable and serve a purpose :D . I noticed that you felt the need to point out only the girls of Tip.it would feel no need to wear a thong. Hiding something?

Is it just me, or is internet narcissism like an old joke that no one's laughing at anymore?

Good Exercising Music?
Anything intense, but not so far that you're getting into death metal or any of that crap (ya, went there). But honestly, if you're still listening to the music seriously even thirty seconds after you put the headphones on, you aren't working out hard enough.

Grades, GPA's; How do you do in School?
Don't worry. People like that are the ones who get sent home crying when they go to the challenging schools they *think* they're ready for  . Hey N0M, don't worry man. Here at Cornell I still have yet to work as hard as I did at St. X (namely Junior year). You know, the most challenging Ivy academically. Man our high school is evil.

You are now aware that you are breathing.
Care to share your great tips oh Dalai Lama? Whenever I try forgeting I end up trying to trick myself into forgetting that I'm trying to forget which results in my trying to trick myself into forgetting that I'm trying to forget that I was trying to forget and... ya, it kinda goes samsara on me. Except, you know, with thinking instead of going six feet under.

I'm pretty sure the losers of the last generation were saying that about the people around them too. Not that you don't have a point.

Real life pictures - 3
Still say hairsnippysnip. Dude, I tried that one time. I realized I didn't have the funds to keep up with that much gel a day  . Unless you just soaked it, 'cause that's just cheating due to it's extremely temporary effect :D .

What's you're political Idoligy
Eh, yes and no. As an economic conservative I have to say that your opinion's pretty right; sometimes people do need a little boost here and there.

Pick Up Lines
Lenin, stop looking at it technically and think about the general location of the electron orbitals and the nucleus of the atom. It's a moot point though, because I'm pretty sure any chick that would get that would agree it's a crappy line.

Is God real post your thoughts!
Damnit, stop trying to teach the turtle calculus.

Pick Up Lines
Dear God that webcomic is AWESOME. I've been hooked for the past few hours. Gotta love it when intelligience, wit, creativity, randomness, and hilarious nerdiness all get wrapped together into one person (speaking of the author). It would be so awesome to be able to be like that main character all the time, [developmentally delayed]ed on the outside but genius in every way imaginable >_>.

Were you the guy in the real life pictures thread who I thought was a girl?

Do you have to open up an argument with an attack :| ? Do we have to talk in extremes everytime we bash something? I hate getting in emotional arguments about economics. The more you look at emotional arguments the nicer a utopia sounds. And then you take five seconds, it clicks, and you realize the world isn't perfect and never will be. Capitalism is worse in essentially one, and only one, sense: the poorest suffer more than in socialist states. It produces more, advances technology faster, and allows for more freedom economically at an individual level. That's a nice if. People like having the money they earned. It's kind of human nature, or rather human necessity- a sense of property. Trusting charities over the government has more to do with trusting human nature over forcing equalization. A) Who exactly is this money going to? B) How have they not deserved it? I'm pretty sure he already answered both of those questions. . Well that came out of left field. He said that if you want socialism, Europe has it. And you respond by saying that America should just stop being a super-power in the world market? What? Meh. ...until 20 years time when a former Communist nation will challenge that. Should I link capitalism to your failures as much as you link it to your successes? Don't tell be you're talking about China, which is becoming more capitalist with every minute that passes? I pray to Allah for the sake of any argument being made that you're not.

Your views on having close friends of the opposite sex?
Yeah I agree... It doesn't mean you're a boring nerd or have no sense of humor if you don't go along with dumb stuff & laugh at stupid jokes/lame innuendo. There's bad and good jokes, then there's plain out stupid ones, which are usually made by teenagers. I would have read that as sarcasm if not for the fact that you italicized 'stupid'.

Different.
Well maybe thats how life is for you, but maybe for some of us life isnt like that, maybe some of us are different? I'm 36 now, still havent met anyone like me. Would that make you a freak or a narcissist? Sumpta's right. I'm calling BS on teenagers.

Which, again, supports the point I made. Essentially every developed state on this planet is socio-capitalist. Some are most capitalist than others, some are more socialist. The argument we're having here is basically an ambiguous discussion where one person is telling another person to move their point on the spectrum between pure capitalism and pure socialism a little bit to the right or left; it's by no means a true debate of opposing ideologies. From my point of view, I'm not soulless, so I obviously agree with the idea of helping those who need it, but unlike essentially this entire forum I'm less inclined to increase welfare to the point that it promotes worthlessness in society. I'm just an old fashioned American conservative who thinks taxes are high enough as is, a pessimist who has never favored idealism. That stuck out to me.
