  1. Oh.. Those clans generally do not work. I can't say I speak from experience, but, having a similar part in your name can cause troubles. For example: You create your clan and people put the Ltd. in their name. I can see this backfire in a way that people create new characters just to annoy you. Generaly clans like that work in games like Diablo or Starcraft where making a new account is actually not that big of a deal.
  2. Understandable. Running a clan takes so much effort but once the clan grows you'll feel very satisfied with yourself. I myself started many, many clans before and they never lasted but I always learned as to why they failed.
  3. So you want to run a clan... Since the beginning of Runescape, many clans have been created and almost all of them have failed. But why do clans fail? What is so important so that clans can live for a long time? Before we start, let us define "clan" A clan is a group of people that share the same interest. These clans are based on many parts of Runescape; whether they are from skilling, roleplaying to playerkilling. So, if you want a long lasting clan, you want to have people with the same interests; if you want a good long lasting clan, you will also need or possibly have: Organization Leadership skills Personal Qualities Original Clan Requirements Decent levels in skills/combat. Inviting possible members properly Membership (optional) Activity and Events (both you and your members) Co-Leaders Honour Contact In game Headquarters and forums Troublemakers - You don't need to have this BUT you will have them time to time. Let's look at the list more closely. Organization Being a leader you will be swamped with things to do for your clan. Lets face it, you'll need to be organized either by keeping track of your active members, or the items they've donated. If it is hard for you to stay organized, work on one thing at a time at your own pace. If it's hard for you stay organized at all, get a secondary leader, who is organized and you trust. Leadership This is the most important part in running your clan. You need people to respect you. People who like you and respect are you fine, those are your friends, but people who hate you and respect you will still follow you and that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s a majority of other clan members (from different clans obviously) The best leader in the world has all the leadership qualities. Let's face it nobody will be the best leader but if you try then you'll be good enough for your members to stay. Do not be afraid to kick people out. That is a problem (even I) people have often. If your clan is more than the average pk/skill clan then you'll get a member back. [*:18z8vf56] Leadership in the past - You've started a clan before? What happened that it got disbanded? You've got to learn from your mistakes at all cost! [*:18z8vf56] Create a vision - you want to create a unique clan with a Roman theme? How? Will you have a special emote to symbolize your clan? [*:18z8vf56] The thrill of a good Challenge - To be a good leader, you must view every problem as a challenge. If the problems are challenges, one will have no problem to actually solving the 'problem.' [*:18z8vf56]Constructive Sprit - You always want to improve? Good! There̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s a problem. If you want to improve but you never think as to "how" then you are being critical. Critical is not good. [*:18z8vf56] Practical - Good leaders will identify which ideas for their clan is practical. Not every practical leader is a good one, remember that. [*:18z8vf56]Responsibility - Taking responsibility for even the worst mistake you make will earn you the respect of many people of Runescape; or just me. [*:18z8vf56]Completion factor - This is very important. Good leader get things done, nice and quick . So if you're planning an event for a certain day, plan it out a week ahead. Then work on it some more! [*:18z8vf56] Mental toughness ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Mental toughness is when you and your clan gets insulted and you just shrug it off. Mental toughness is being competent and dependable during pressure. A leader with mental toughness will not be bothered by the small thing. [*:18z8vf56] Charisma - When one speaks, people will listen. You want to attract members, right? Charisma is a personal attractiveness that enables you to influence others. In the case of Runescape, the personal attractiveness would be your powerful items or maybe the skills on the high scores. Maybe you̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢re a great person to talk to? Maybe you̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢re a nice person. All these can be used to your advantage. Personal Qualities [*]Passion - You must love what you do, other wise your clan will die. [*] Humour ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ This isn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t a must have but you have got to have a sense of humour! [*] Empathy - You're a leader, you have always got to help your followers. Help even those who don't follow you. (Just not as much as your members.) [*] Patience - A must. Clans take time. Quicker one realizes that, longer the clan will be. [*] Wisdom and Common sense ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ It is important for a leader to be wise. If your member is going through hard times, it is good to know that their leader can give some good advice. ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅDon̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t give out your password.̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  4. I wrote to Postie Pete himself. (today) He went all over runescape, so I was wondering if he ever heard anything about a God of Commerce. :) I mean we have Gods that only Combatants can worship. Why can't us skiller worship someone besides Guthix? :(
