  1. Jagex quite reacently changed it so it's now SUPPOSED to be a seed back whenever you chop down a tree. If you pay the farmer, you can't get a seed back. I havn't tested the method(and why would i...) but what i said is in accordance with what jagex posted on their update thread. By the way, this doesn't make magic seeds easy to obtain, you try cutting down 20 magic trees.... Not seen this, but i will test it out from now on - next tree run in 6 hours - thats going to considerably slow me down, but worth it at 220k ish per seed surely. G
  2. Have you confirmed that this works? I'm pretty you get your seed back 5% of the time when you use the spade to clear the patch. I don't have the scroll of life, but I'd imagine that there would be a drop in the price of magic seeds if they became this easy to obtain. it doesnt, jamflex says chopping down the tree gives you the seed when digging it up does. You dont even have to 'chop' the tree down, paying the farmer to clear it also works - i have had 3 magic seeds back in a row, then nothing for another 75 trees, so don't count on the 5% thing to save you heaps. G
  3. I get around 900 to 1000 per hour, playing at a 'steady' rate over a few hours - this is maybe a more realistic value if you dont pay full attention all the time. G
  4. 3 barrows items (2.5mill) in 3 runs, then nothing for ages. And dont get me started on the 'luck' of 'lets buy low and sell high - its bound to go up'
  5. Rocktails are 'easier' in that its less clicking and generally less work, useful if you like to multitask and watch movies etc G
  6. I like to train some combat stats with hardly any intervention sometimes, especially when i'm supposed to be working :), where I dont like having to click on things a million times - i can do that at home where i can give my full attention. So i train at spiders in SOS with a bunyip, with rs in a corner of the screen and my work everywhere else. Is there an option to train magic this way? I know there are 100k/H options if i pay attention, but can i get say 50k/h on spiders say, and if so, with what setups/spells? Everything autocasts now, but what speeds? any other good places? I dont mind getting any other types of exp (HP etc) at the same time, as long as I am not clicking every 3 game ticks. This also includes stopping to pick stuff up - i can't be bothered to do that while I am supposed to be working. I am looking to go from lvl 82 to 85 - assume all quests done, ancients lunar etc, 100 million budget to buy gear. Would also give preferrence to somewhere that is easy to get to, so i dont mind leaving to do herb runs. Sorry for such a convoluted question, but i havent really 'trained' magic since lvl 73 - its just happened. cheers G
  7. If 14 watermelons per seed is correct, then you're running a 58.9k loss for 6.4k xp per run. On top of that, you forgo the flower patch, which is 500 xp and 20k profit (limps). In total you lose 78.9k for 5.9k xp (13.4 gp/xp). Watermelons are basically the last thing to be added, even after magic trees, when maximizing marginal xp. At lower levels (lower than 68) I'd say it might be worth it, since it'll help you get to the higher trees quicker. I never said i anything about flowers or herbs. I plant toadflax and limps. And i'm aware at how inefficient watermelons are, as my plan is indeed to get to higher level trees faster. However, this topic was about levelling quickly, and the highest allotment you can plant will yield that. Farming is a slow skill, and I'd prefer to make it as painless as possible. Not that i can really afford it, but I'd like a somewhat respectable farming level. And the herbs and flowers make up for it, so instead of making profit, i break even on the skill for the sake of faster xp. It just boils down to laziness. With pretty much every other skill, i train as efficiently as possible based on my income. I can get up to 300 watermelons it seems on a good round, usually around 200. Makes a massive difference in exp per round over a day. I just leave the flower in the spot proteting it.
  8. well lvl 77 is conc coal i beleive, but the theory is the same. i am mining and superheating gold in keldagrim north, but also doing a lot of star hunting - i suggest joining a star clan THEN find an empty world and mine away - almost afk and upwards of 20k per hour definately possible. G
  9. I take it you are standing between it and its food source?
  10. RSOF is full of idiots who have seen a new update for 10 minutes and already judged it? G
  11. Although I enjoyed the exp and levels, I didnt enjoy the 'pressure' to work 100% on summoning for instance - I was knackered after an hour and a half! Like many said, the feeling (and I understand no one was forcing me) to train at full speed was intense and unenjoyable. I didnt talk to anyone, didnt do anything else in the background (tv, music etc) just full on clicking frenzy. Also, again like someone mentioned - do I now stock pile all my charms and pots for the rest of the year in case another bonus weekend happens? I bet there are not many levels gained in summoning in the next few weeks at least. From certain tracking websites, the largest number I have seen was 47mill summoning xp in a day - now admittedly he/she must of had a tonne of blue charms stored (they were already 99 summoning) but this might be a bit excessive. A flat multiplier of say 1.5 coupled with a limit per skill of 500k might be more fun? It would remove the time constaint of forcing you to run for the 2.7x multiplier and also encourage you to train multiple skills? G
  12. 2.1 mill exp in 3 hours across summoning (6 lvls), herblore and farming. Taking a break now because I feel knackered - really intense playing against the clock like that! If you had a load of blue charms and seconds you were getting amazing exp - i had 2 levels in 15 mins (78- 80) and others were getting huge amounts. The only problem I see with this for me is that I will now stockpile charms until the next xp weekend - my summoning might be static for another 6 months, if we ever get another one. RC then agility next :) G
  13. From reading through this, as a novice, it seems that no matter how much money (or time) i have in game, i cannot buy the top end items? To get a top item, i need to buy 10 of item x, swap up for another item Y (with junk) then repeat to get 5 of Y, to swap (with presumably more rubbish) 5Y for one Z ? Does that make sense to anyone? How has the perceived worth of some of these items become so high that in order to sell them, a player has to jump through so many hoops? Does this mean that if i got a good item from a clue, it is impossible to sell on GE or if it does sell, i 'lose' money based on a perceived street price? I would be interested to hear the opinion of the people who are holding these expensive items - if it is so difficult to buy your item, for someone starting with cash only, do you really think this is sustainable? How much worth can you place on an item that i need to go and trade 50 times with other people before i can swap for your item? How long will it be before the number of players entering the game, who cannot get these items, no longer care about them? As some one who has been around for 4-5 years, who has a net worth of several hundred million, I cannot be bothered to trawl forums for days on end to hunt down a complicated item chain to secure the 1 item I would like to buy. How many more people like me are there? If i was holding 'rares' I would be more worried about the diminishing market of people who could actually trade me, as opposed to trying to justify why my item is worth so much more than a 'sensible' cash value. G
  14. I was going to ask why lots of people feel the need to declare this a fail / waste of time / dissapointment without even seeing it or playing it, but then i remembered where I was...... Remember this is a diversions minigame, not a full time minigame or a new way to train summoning. Its a little something new to do for fun occasionally. Also, like the ardy diaries with the hidden elite tasks, which were slated for hours, why not give it some time to see what it actually can do?
  15. It may be not one of the options you mentioned, but another user (Qeltar?) has a website which suggests barrows averages out 1.1m/H or so., and is one of the highest cmb ways of making money. G
  16. I have seen guides etc where figures of around 80k up are discussed, but even as a proficient minesweeper, i cant get near those. I would say 40 to 60k are more likely. I prefer to train my farming overnight - 15 minute tree runs every morning will bring a higher exp rate than vinesweeper, and save your playing time for something a bit more fun. G
  17. I know a lot of people and clans have been merching these a bit, but my worry with this is if they bring out a new way to lvl, like a new minigame or something which might effect bone prices. As always, its a brave person to gamble on an update. Look at all those people buying up vials etc before box packs were brought out..... Personally, if you want some cash, sell half of them at max and see if they sell? Least you would clear some cash. G
  18. pray melee, antifire pot and stab with leaf bladed sword.
  19. Another consideration is that Miscallania profits have now switched to herbs (from raw fish) so this too vastly reduces the amount of fish in the market place.
  20. Safespot ranging is possible in the slayer tower, behind a desk in the NW corner of the room. I find this really slow though.
  21. SO in the RSOF thread above - conclusion is (apart from arguments of stupid people who cant read, add up, or get a triangle out of there head) is that, while not dead, is now much much more difficult and hence less GP/Hour. 76king now makes less money per hour than skilling? G
