Weekly Poll: How often do you see someone breaking...
reversal replied to Kiara_Kat's topic in General Discussion
see at least 5-10 people with follow scams. see at least 2-5 selling accounts see at least 1 or none advertising a website offer rs gold see at least 1 or none trimming armor see at least 5 selling charcoal, polished buttons, muddey key (not a scam but should be since they selling something useless for a ridiculous amount) see at least 3-5 quick switch scam (jagex could do something about the trade system like add a trade history instead doing weak updates) -

Rate My Newest F2p Bank
reversal replied to reversal's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
I only use my fire staff for hi alching and superheating, hence no fire runes. Plus it would ruin my organization of things. stats are in my siggy. I'll post my old stats for my old bank pic. -
I'd like to see some bank pics and stats to see if these cash per hour rates are real or just a bunch of crap.

Would you choose 11m or lvl85 smithing? Please post!
reversal replied to willie_the_noob's topic in General Discussion
I would choose the money over the skill. Why? Personally I never like the thought of wasting money on smithing and hi alching plates. Probably only did about 200k worth of xp that way. People don't have high smithing because they use it as a money drainer instead of a money maker. In my opinion, buy lots of nats and make addy bars as you mine, that way u get xp for both mage, mining, and smithing. Keep doing this until you can smith something useful out of addy, ie scimmies/kites. However the only drawback is the time required to sell the large quantities of items. -

As a lv 90 smither here's my take on the situation: as long as u buy iron for 100 ea shouldn't have much trouble. As for rune: rune ores cost from 11k-11.5k ea nats 300 coal 8 x 180 ea therefore rune bars cost 12740 to 13240 smither general sell items at 15k per bar therefore making 2260 per bar ie: if u sold rune 2h for 45k you make 6780 profit. hard to say how much u will make per hour because it depends on how many buyers you get. In my opinion it's better to sell full addy sets than rune sets because there are more rune sellers than addy. if you could mine rune ore then definitely you would be making some nice cash but very few miners can actually smith it. in my opinion you should at most lv 85 smithing. I'll need about 8 million more xp for lv 99 smithing. It will cost me 128 mill in steel bars to get it. Supposedly the best economical way to lv up smithing is to smith and hi alch mith plates (if you buy mith bars at 1k ea.) If you have any questions just pm me here.

Impossible to one hit coal at any level. This is my experience as a lv 86 miner. Best bet for mining coal is to mine where there is no one around.
-
If you get a lv 99 smither to smith your items then it is possible to make some money. I'd gave a smither my bars and he would smith for me kites and 2h. back in the past summer it was easy to sell either for 50k. now 45k is what most buyers try to buy at. smithing isn't a good moneymaker but still nontheless it's something for us f2p players to do

I'd say it's only fair because I'm sure that the majority of the yews on the market are produced by f2p players. The thing about yews that I hate is that f2p can cut but can't use it. Since that's the case i rather that f2p didn't get yews at all.
-
I went to world 1 yesterday and noticed yews going anywhere from 320-350 ea. Now A few months ago I remember seeing the max around 300 and most people were buying at around 290 ea. Is the increase in price due to a demand issue or is the "killing macro agenda" really having an effect on the yew market?

please re-write that in proper english.... on topic: fly fishing at barb village is the fastest f2p exp I think... better? was writting at midnight and was a little sleep deprived.
-
While everyone is at barb vill fly fishing I suggest you go fly fishing at lumbridge. It is often less crowded and even if there are people there they usually have lower fishing lvs.
-
don't sit around the bank and try to sell them when no one is buying, there's already enough people trying to do that. just have a small stockpile of ammies ready for when you see a buyer in bank.

need help on crafting in f2p and smelting in f2p
reversal replied to mark63534's topic in Help and Advice
this is probably the best advice posted so far. using the crafting guild is your best bet. however a few modifications: once u get to lv 40 crafting you could either do tiara crafting or continue craft cow hides since there is a tanner and cows at the crafting guild. if you are more daring, save your gold ores and sell for at least 300-400 ea, preferably sell at 1k for at least 400 ea. buy gold bars from players for 200 ea. buying gold bars should be easy since members usually spend lots of money buying gold ores and have tons of gold bars left over. -
***Interesting Questions About F2P SKills*** EDITED
reversal replied to F2pPur3's topic in Help and Advice
Agreed. Until you have a mining level ~10+ higher than the level needed to mine the ore the time needed is determined by you pickaxe, and even with the higher level it can take quite a few hits to get anything. At 64 mining I can one-hit coal, but more often than not I take ~10 hits. The same applies to woodcutting speed. just want to reiterate this point since people are posting incorrectly, at least contrary to my personal experience. the higher mining lv u r it does help, ie one hit iron at lv 41 but lower lvs can out mine me at coal because it is random. if it wasn't then coal prices would definitely increase -
***Interesting Questions About F2P SKills*** EDITED
reversal replied to F2pPur3's topic in Help and Advice
i'd so no for the mining question. from my experience it's all pretty much random. can one hit rune ore or take up to 30 s to min it. -
since ur lv 72 mining i would suggest you try the edgeville mines. you'll see why when u get there.

i suppose i'm lucky that some jagex ads won't work on my computer because i don't have the software to play them. i found this out after i had reformated my computer. back on topic, there are other ways jagex is screwing with f2p. ie, giving out a lot of stuff(ie holiday stuff, treasure trail stuff) without sufficient bank space to hold them. wc is in a way a useless skill for f2p because f2p can only sell the logs for money and are unable to use the logs that they cut for fletching. f2p does produce revenue for jagex with all those ads they have, so it would be nice if they put out another f2p quest. only 1 new quest in the last 4 since p2p came out.

lv 3 skillers are disposable char. hence if lost no big deal since it's not that hard to lv up another skiller to cut yews. imo all lv 3 skiller should be banned along with all the macros.

Mining rune ore is good for the following reasons: No macros High Profit: 11.5k to 12k, 100k-200k per hour from my exp Rune mining is bad for the following reasons: At least 10k+ players already can mine rune. Rune ores respawn takes at most 20 mins to 10 mins (estimates) Pkers, I'd say roughly 1 every 5 to 7 world changes and you'll find one I would strongly suggest not to powermine. Why? Basically you're wasting a lot of ore for nothing. It is roughly 3.2 mill xp to get to 85 mining from lv 1. As an illustration, in terms of coal, that's 64k coal would can sell for at least 11 mill easily. Personally I only powermined for the last 20k xp. When you do get to lv 85 mining, use 2 scouts, preferably lv 40+ because there are even low lv pkers looking to kill scouts. Most players recommend placing them in the maze across from the ores, which is bad because pkers know this already. For the miner, bring food and bind runes. For armor i would suggest g dragonhide, gives u some armor and light enough to run away. Note g dragonhide will reduce the chance of successfully binding pkers.

Just another "Fastest way to make money?" thread..
reversal replied to Altra's topic in Help and Advice
In order to "make" 1 mill gp merchanting coal at 160 ea then selling for 180 ea, you'll need to first buy 50k coal and then sell all. there are easier things to sell to make 1 mill that any f2p can do. -
1k-1.2k? I've never personally seen anyone buy or sell addy ore at that price. the most i've seen was 1k ea. according to another price guide which i find is much more accurate and up to date with prices says addy ores goes for 700-1k ea. but if the market can support those prices then so be it. also any addy spot if fine, i would suggest either al kharid chasim if ur lower than 50 combat, edgeville mines if ur higher than 50. once u mine addy ore, switch worlds.

Ever since I've played rs from 2001, I can only recall 2 updates to the trade system. They were : 1) the 2nd trade window 2) the recent one where it shows the trader's name. I'm sure others would agree the current system is lame and is overdue for an update, one that is actually helpful. Here are my suggestion from my experience: 1)Show price Allow the seller to post a price with his merchandise. That way the buyer can see what the seller is asking for and if the buyer puts in the correct amount the trade is automatically accepted. This will speed up trades in crowded worlds. Will also stop scammers who quick switch gp. 2)Trading tabs/queues Often times when i sell i get multiple buyers at one time. Trading tabs could be used to form a queue of buyers waiting to buy goods. 3)Trade chat Often it is difficult to chat to a buyer especially on a crowded world. 4)Trade filter Allow sellers the option to select what kind of items that they would consider in exchange for their goods. It will save time from being wasted with useless trades.

Nice guide, fairly detailed with the location of each ore. For your consideration, I think you should include superheating into the guide. I'm also a lv 85 miner and i believe superheating to be an incredible tool for any miner/smither combo. All you need is a supply of nats and a fire staff along with your pick. Then pick a spot where you have ores and coal to make bars with. Pros: Saves time by reducing the number of banking trips you have to make. Saves you even more time having to go to a furnace. You get smithing and magic xp at the same time, and because you can mine longer you'll get faster mining xp as well. Con: Nats are expensives, especially for f2p players. Superheating bars is recommended only for mith and addy bars. You'll also have to be the required smithing lv to superheat the ore into bars.
