  1. I was thinking about your idea and yeah I was thinking an updated pathing module for the game so you didn't have to click the obstacle. Maybe they could do a module that has a 'as-the-crow-flies' concept. This could be done where the module does a check between your character and the area clicked. If the area you are traveling to has an obstacle you'll automatically use the shortcut and continue to your destination. I also like the idea of usable scenery like jumping rivers and streams, but I feel the game can't handle that... I really do believe that it would make agility a much more colorful skill, but it's just not possible. If I were to try and attempt to do this and make the impossible the possible I feel that making passive shortcuts would be the best route. For example all walls, cliffs, rivers, rocks, trees could be traversed. The issue is the whole of runescape terrain would have to be worked on. It would make for a much more interesting way of traveling and getting around as well as more immersion into the game.
  2. Remember jagex has stated that the grid of the game could actually be made smaller to replicate the move-anywhere espect of the game... About 10x smaller from what I read. I suppose that might be the first step in improving agility. Once they have done that they can make agility move you faster when they separate run energy. Someone at jagex stated that the actual run system 'teleports' you two squares when you run using an animation of running. What they could instead do is make agility where you start at a base run speed of say 8/20 minisquares (10/20 mini squares being the original walk rate) per 'teleport' and every 5 levels you could go up a mini square (agility cape level bonus would give you that last umph as well). This concept would probably increase run rates for maxed agility players by like 7% i think. I suppose they could make it a minisquare increase per 3 levels and get a more dramatic increase in run. This would actually make it more worth training, but I feel more passive bonuses are necessary. I just might have to put this agility concept in my blog as well. It's a good idea to discuss and broaden.
  3. I could imagine something a bit more like mile marker xp rewards where the system could see how far you've ran. Maybe certain areas like ramps, ladders, current agility obstacles, etc. would offer subtle bonuses to that xp gain over time. I would like to imagine this all being calculated over maybe a 1-5 hour period where you are granted experience. I think that would be cool because it grands you experience how I feel agility should be used. This is just one concept though I'd imagine there are better ones.
  4. 103 dung xp from doing troll invasion at 114 plus 17k dung xp form a medium lamp gained from SoF. All in all 120k xp gained in 20 minutes. Going to see if I can get in two floors before work.
  5. I am thoroughly happy to see agility getting reworked. I've always had some concepts that interested me about abilities use.
  6. I was 2.4k form level and now... 114 dungeoneering! 2490 skill total! First time I've seen the second digit change in a looong time. At the moment I have my C1's, 5 abandoned and 6 occults left. 5850k to 115 dung. 1823k tokens saved.
  7. While looking at the runescape forums (yeah I do that form time to time aware I will eventually get disappointed) I found this gem. I'm sure this isn't something too juicy or big, but it odes shed some light on a very vast runescape plot line that I think the community itself have probably been screaming louder for than maybe even the Ritual of the Majharrat. I have dubbed it the Return of the Gods because thats what it is all about. Currently I cannot express much more because I have to get ready, but read on: http://voces.huffingtonpost.com/blackberry/p.html?id=1689956 Feel free to edit with a quote giving credit to huffington post.
  8. Dung Update: Had the weekend off and I think I made some beastly progress for how much I play lately. I had a couple friends helping sometime through, but mostly I think it was me chugging along. I ended up doing 22 floors one night and finishing up the last 5 floors the next morning. I reset, completed all my floors except my C1's, 6 abandoned, 9 occult, 3 warp with 602k form 114 dung which I most likely will get after work and gym in the morning. I have 1748k tokens accumulated thus far. Percentage of level completed in one week end 5% through 88%.
  9. Everyone please read this and really take the time to understand it. Read it twice if you have too because it's probably the most important thing said in this thread. Also, lol at the analogies in this thread. I agree.... God forbid we start down the road to ostracizing our own legitimate players.
  10. I think that's a pretty bad reason to not care now... we know it's likely not important in twenty years, but that doesn't mean we should pretend we are the people we will be in twenty years. I don't know whether microtransactions will be the end of RS. But I do think it's better to remove them because they take away from the level playing field. Even cosmetic items are in a way part of the playing field. As such, telling people they are annoying (to you) when they buy stuff from Jagex is justified. It's just not very likely do accomplish anything. i disagree... Really the core of the truth is that everything in life, as far as importance, is relative to your situation.
  11. Damn got me lol... I had a feeling a fudged up somewhere. Thanks... Add me on runescape i might be interested in talking a bit.
  12. Keep the SoF discussion in the designated SoF thread. We know where this is going.
  13. So I just won a pendant of dungeoneering and it turns out it acts the same as the mad may necklace in the it doubles all of the xp gained from the floor. I ran a floor and got 283k xp from floor 56 with one death. On another note it didn't seem like light-hearted fun by calling people out for doing things they enjoy nor did it even hint at it.
  14. seems that the pendant of dungeoneering gives you 2x xp for the entire floor like the mad may necklace. Nice seeing 283k for one floor with one death. Best believe I get another or the 3x version it'll be used on the highest of floors.
  15. What a useless trash response. Honestly that is just horrible. If people want to spend money to make their character more unique let then be and admire them or better yet ignore them and concentrate on yourself because they shouldn't mean anything to you in the first place. Don't use it as a reason to insult them or judge poorly. Grow the hell up... I don't give a [bleep] how old you are of where are are from, but sooner or later you WILL learn to respect others because if you don't then you'll find yourself in the center being mocked for your animosity and no one will back you. Buying squeal shit in rs isn't something a lot of people like. It would be like wearing a fur coat in a room full of animal activists and expecting them to like you. I don't care. You should still have a minimum amount of respect for people. I said it before and I'll say it again... Pick you're battles wisely because if SoF really matters that much to you then you got more to figure out in your life than you think.
  16. Look what I got from Jagex... Yay, they knew just what I needed! Running a test soon to see what'll happen.

  18. Alright I suppose theres use, but does anyone important - save the HLF use it. I scroll on and its a bunch of trolls, and obviously very young posters and internet memes being thrown around on there all the time. It doesn't really seem productive. I dont support additional censorship especially blocking out the company owners (over 50% of the stock share iirc) seems very shady but at the same time I dont blame them for doing it. Ah you need to have high stats to be important? What a bunch of elitism you show... again. Everyone is important in an MMO. I slightly agree on the elitism feelings you have, but he has a point. The HLF people do hold a special place, maybe not above anyone else, because they represent the end game, longstanding, well knowledged players of the game. Most importantly is that these players also have a good picture on how the game should be player out and generally critique it justly due to their longevity and experience with the game.
  19. If I'm not wrong it's half specific and half general, which his data roughly concurs with (1910k overall xp/h, with 855k in fixed). Fixed, as far as I know, is evenly distributed, except in the case of the Adventurer's XP weekend, so you could consider number of 99s a player has in calculating reduced beneficial XP from fixed lamps. So If I'm not wrong it's half specific and half general, which his data roughly concurs with (1910k overall xp/h, with 855k in fixed). Fixed, as far as I know, is evenly distributed, except in the case of the Adventurer's XP weekend, so you could consider number of 99s a player has in calculating reduced beneficial XP from fixed lamps. So there is a parabolic curve of some sorts in efficiency then. Though it doesn't count for much because the player could have gained experience up to that 99 using SoF. One thing that gets me is that while he got about 1.9m xp from spins how much money and time did he spend using them? I suppose that the averages might look promising, but statistics can lie. Honestly I've tried to make a good statement on this use of SoF as far as efficiency goes, but all in all it's just too random and will only look efficient if you got a lot of unmatched skills and don't mind semi unconcentrated xp.
  20. Being rich in real life doesn't make you better in this game than those who aren't. The only real benefit is paying for members. Everything else is just a slight for participating... Sure you might get a bit more from buying spins and whatnot, but it still doesn't change much. Why don't you make an honest and educated stance against this by doing your homework and checking out the percentages of spins get you small, medium, large lamps and consider the rest junk. I really just may do this when I get home and see if I can get a large sample to play with. I'm so sick of everyone jumping on the impovished versus the wealthy bandwagon that I just may waste my time researching this to throw one of you under its wheels. [qfc]17-18-757-63894162[/qfc] 99 all stats and 105 DG, from a sample of 32,500 spins he received on average 5,688 XP per spin. If you can throw down enough money it actually does make quite a difference, as daily records show. While I cannot deny those statistics or the large sample there are several aspects to it that we could scrutinize. The average player probably has several 99's and isn't maxed. With that said the player might recieve xp lamps wasted on skills that are either maxed out or are of no desire to them... At least that is probably the biggest thought that might run across a players mind if they choose to go this route. One of the failsafes for SoF is that the player will randomly receive something and in this case with lamps it could be any skill lamp for 25 different skills or a general lamp. Also has anyone determined what percentage of each lamp is skill specific and which is a general lamp?

  22. It can get you further than you think... Yeah if you treat services as a means to an end then you're a douchbag and probably that guy who throws a fit in the line as everyone stares at them dumbfounded. There is a reason people say pick you're battles wisely because some aren't worth fighting. Maybe not to you, but for me it does. I like reading feedback on updates, but the community is overcritical and they whine about the smallest minute details of the update. I also see repeated IPV threads and posts constantly in the future updates and recent updates forums. If you want to look like a smartass like everone else by using debate lingo why are you using absolutes? Don't you know you shouldn't say things like only, never, always, etc. Well played on the absolutes. I'm actually against using absolutes, but obviously I mess up sometimes :P Also, something to keep in mind when reading RSOF on updates. When players are happy about the update, generally they play RS and the update instead of talking about it. People are generally less vocal about what they're happy about then what they're mad about. Oh, and the reason I used the debate lingo was because someone else earlier in this thread brought up the "would you rather see investors quit and RS fail" or something essentially that and someone else pointed out how it was a false dilemma. It was more that I got a sense of déja-vue when I saw his post and that made me think of the reply. I don't normally go around spouting the formal names for logical fallacies :P Honestly you are right about the happiness thing because thats how I am and I very rarely and I mean RARELY put out anything on the forums about a good update. I mean its not all bad content and some of it could have used more tweaking, but sometimes you just can't ever hit that mark and not everything looks like a masterpiece especially with so many eyes on it. Even though it might be a logical fallacy in theory that could be a very likely way of runescape going downhill. There are many things we don't know about jagex and what their intentions are, but IVP certainly isn't the grand evil entity everyone is making it out to be. I will admit that it has warped the spirit of the game a bit, but like I said before it was most likely a necessary event much like someone getting a job to support their growing needs. @stonewall: They aren't defending "censorship." What they are defending is the separation of the corporates business and the runescape communities forceful intrusion into an area of jagex business practices that holds no place for the consumer.

  24. Right now I think the whole of dungeoneering is going to face a lot of legacy issues. I mean it's going to be brutal trying to make it out of dungeons without massive deaths if you don't got armor bound and even then with a plate bound its still going to be hell... I wonder if they'll scale back the room spawns or give out more binds earlier in the game. They are really going to have to work on dungeoneering... I dont know what to say.
  25. In the end everything dies anyways so might as well enjoy what you like and leave when you're ready to move on to other entertaining things.
