Urza285's Blog - i work out to Wierd Al... imjusttoowhiteandnerdy
So last night I managed to do the new quest Whats Mine is Yours. I decided to work on the Doric and Sons tasks, too, but got held up on the Death Plateau quest remake (which my Completionist self decided to do as well as the five supply runs). When I get home I plan on finishing the rest of the tasks and heading back to dungeoneering. Should see 119 dungeoneering in 2 days. Just finished all of the Doric and Son's tasks and did a floor real quick. I managed to get a t10 black demon that counted towards an MKX challenge that got me 24k constitution xp. I also got my fifth blood necklace as well and sold it to a nice guy for 1m. I'm about another 6-7m from buying the last piece to my robes of subjugation. I forgot to mention that last night I turned all of my daily challenges off except the delve into daemonheim. I just did my first day of DID for 171k dung xp. Shouldn't be too long before 119 dung! As far as I can tell Hex Keyers (the leech friend chat I help run) is making a steady comeback into the leeching community. They are currently most active around 7pm EST which is perfect for me to help out because I work midnights. I've been contemplating doing a promotion for the keyers or leeches on BXPW becuase things are going to be hectic if I get things going right. I've almost been thinking something like "buy 5 consecutive floors and get the 6th free" kind of deal.

What's Mine is Yours/Goblin Flashmob [17 October 2012 update]
Honestly jagex stance on letting us block all, but one skill was a very good decision. Considering the nature of the dungeoneering community I consider it a slight tip of the hat to the struggling good-natured max stat dungeoners out there. In reality it's nothing any worse than the assist system with effigies. I remember when I stopped actively training runecrafting at 95 and I literally got on and did my assists every day for 99 runecrafting. Of course that wasn't all I put into runecrafting, but that's besides the point.

Buying/Selling Dung Floors/Items
If your up around 8PM EST join hex keyers. They have a pretty good refund time and floor price. And yeah I know I'm advertising my friend chat, but it couldn't hurt to help out the community. Once I get comp I'll be suiciding a ton.

Hallowe'en Treat: Scary Bonus XP Weekend!
Obviously it depends on how you define "game-breaking" but halving the preparation time for a skill like summoning is a very big deal. True... It's possible to go from 1-99 in 24 hours or so. I knew a guy named Dirtbag02 who did that on a non-BXPW day. What. It's possible to get 94M summoning XP in a 30-hour "day" which Dragonseance has shown. I thought it was clear that the change is about that you now only have to spend half(depending on goal obviously) the time at waterfiends/slaying/whatever to reach your goal. Why do I have the feeling that was done with effigy camping and not legit training? That is something completely different. I doubt someone could do that with 30 hours and doing nail beast charms the whole time.

I am so going to no life 119-120 dungeoneering during bxpw. I also find it hard to believe that i fell into owning and running a leech friend chat recently. If I go hard enough I might even get to make some money on the side.

Hallowe'en Treat: Scary Bonus XP Weekend!
The effects are similar to a draught, but with two different types of events effecting it. Would a draught that lasts a week be more detrimental to the market and consumets than one that lasted six weeks? That's what the community faces. They want to play the game without extortionist prices being hiked up by the community. With those prices players would feel the constricting forces of the market forcing them to gather for themselves or do something else. You could probably suffer and do agility or something up until the bxpw or after for a week, but generally all of the nonbuyables would drive you crazy. Now imagine having to go through those thought processes and decisions over a six week period. I'm not talking six weeks, I'm talking six months. If they told us months ago prices would be even worse. It balances out eventually. Would they? I don't see how. Having prices be a complete mess for two months because of panic buying and selling seems worse than giving people half a year to slowly gather what they want to use during the weekend. Be that through buying or gathering. Please explain how it would be worse. Regardless the point is that it's predictable to a point. When players knew it was coming every six months it was the last 1-2 months that killed the market. Training during that time was horrendous. The actual market beforehand wasn't so bad because not every player was sucked into hoarding their materials. When you are a young person your sense of what something is worth only extends so far so most used their materials before the event was ever announced. Now to another point. The fact that they renigged on their word isn't so bad. Personally had I been the one deciding on the event I would have done the same, but gave people a week max in notice. And from then on out all bxpw events would be random and none of this September and march bs would e allowed. Again, personally I would probably make events during the year that win you allotted hours you can use on bxpw when they come... Maybe 3 hour allotments?

I'm in complete disagreement. Considering we see a lot of panic selling/buying during new releases the short term notice effects aren't nearly as bad as the long term notice effects. In the long term players are forced to pay extortionist prices during the hike. Even in the lull players will pay mich more because they aren't patient enough to wait out for the stability afterwards. Lets not forget people are well aware of the time + monetary value/experience. The short term is just panic buys and sells really and very little lull or wait. Once the opportunity to take extra advantage of those resources passes thing go back to normal. The effects are similar to a draught, but with two different types of events effecting it. Would a draught that lasts a week be more detrimental to the market and consumets than one that lasted six weeks? That's what the community faces. It's the psychology of reinforcement. Also the same reason so many famous people have issues with drugs and alcohol especially when careers start to falter. They need to keep feeling that "high" that comes from performing at peak levels. In the case of football players though, it's also the brain injuries. :P /tangent In a nutshell yeah, but I don't think it's that muc of an addiction.

I got about another 11 weeks before I finish the circus. currently I have obtained all of the clothing other than one of the fire makers pieces and I have pretty much all of the audience outfit pieces to get. After I finish the circus I think I might go mithril dragon hunting to finish up the barbarian notes. Also what a pleasant surprise from Jagex last night. They decided they wanted to launch another BXPW under the guise of a Halloween theme. I currently have about 5.7m from 119 dungeoneering. The kicker here is that my vacation days from work kick in on the 27th, the start of the bonus xp weekend which ends on the 29th, and my vacation ends on the 31st I think. I hope to have 119 dung before the BXPW starts and maybe a hunk of 120 done as well. So all in all should be an interesting week off with a november BTS coming as I go back to work. In other news I am taking over a friends keyer chat called Hex Keyers. Though I don't consider selling floors as a legitimate way of making money it is very lucrative, fun and helpful to the community.

Hallowe'en Treat: Scary Bonus XP Weekend!
I don't believe video games are addicting, but I feel its the gain of progression through the video game that is addicting. I mean think about this... No one ever said someone was addicted to weight lifting, playing football or long distance running because they were so physically and mentally prepared to take on 250 lb dead lift, 4 second sprint or 10k run. The people that are do these things are seeking the same thing gamers seek: progress, esteem and recognition. The only difference is that they are well versed in the potential issues they face from these things such as broken bones, sprains, tendonitis, dehydration and even possible death. While gamers on the other hand are young so they are neglecting the signs of dehydration, drinking sodas more often than water and holding off food or other activities required to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I believe people just suffer a lack of self control with gaming. The definition of "addiction" is general, but in the psychological world there are two types of addictions. One addiction type being psychologically dependent such as gambling addictions. The other is addiction is physically dependence and is habit-forming which are substances such as nicotine and other narcotics. Both cases put the victim through trauma, but generally its easier to walk away from something you are psychologically dependent versus being physically dependent on. I believe the case here is that people who are addictive gamblers are generally older people who are often left to their own vices thus suffer without many knowing until their lives are ruined. While those who are addicted to game progression, not games themselves, are children who aren't being adequately monitored by their parents.

King Black Dragon and Dungeon Rework- October 9, 2012
I suppose I get that a bit. Doesn't surprise me Jagex being a bit off base, but neither does a whiner every times something happens. Seems both sides are nearly as idiotic at times.

King Black Dragon and Dungeon Rework- October 9, 2012
Please, whine more. Jagex has stated recently that the main reason for introducing SoF/SGS was to help them build a nest-egg to help pay for improvements to the game and its engine. Even then they went further stating that they knew they were initially pushing microtransactions pretty hard off the start. The bottom line should be that if jagex sticks to their guns no one should mind buying a few things to help push them up to a better game engine. On that note there are also many things in the real world that we all can't afford that are "luxurious" or "too expensive" and thats not going to change for the game either. The chivalry of customer loyalty may not be around like it was back in the day, but the concept is still alive. Why don't you people start looking at how your loyalty might help better this game for the long run. No one is asking you to buy these things and with the purported purpose of these transactions being to build a nest-egg to boost runescape into a better engine I'd gladly contribute. Honestly I would love to see runescape in a game engine that puts its content in a vast globe that isn't so cluttered.

Started working on some of the swap outs and buys for when EOC goes live. I ended up buying saradomin whisper, bandos gloves, helm, armadyl gloves, and armadyl battlestaff. I also bought a few of the dragon items because they'll look awesome when EOC goes live. I also started gathering some skilling item placeholders and repurchased the dragon hatchet and pickaxe. I'm down to about a 14m cash stack, but I'll work it back up later. Oh and finished all of the court cases and plan on working on the circus outfits.

Wow everything looks so amazing... I might have to recollect some of the dragon weapons as cosmetics. Stuff like this will make those cosmetic Solomon items well worth it.

118 dungeoneering... Things are getting very boring and monotonous. I haven't yet bought a single floor, but its so tempting. Even at this level it would most me around 250m just to hit 120. I also got crapped on my an unlucky troll invasion run and died on the second hard wave. The two medium and 1 small lamp from SoF clearly made up for it along with the 700k from septembers sizzling summer promissory note. Two more levels for my completionist cape. Two more days and I finish my court cases and start working on the circus gear.

They've already updated vampire slayer. Sorry, but I had a slight enjoyment in shattering your hopes of a twilight pun in that quest.

02 Oct, 2012 -- Festival of the Dead
So did anyone glean anything from the slight mention kuradel made to trying to bring her mother and father together. I'm slightly curious what her "preparations" were.

Promissory Note & Choose Your Fate rewards
Got the Nex lore book off someone else kill. My drops were: brews and restores 80 rune ore and 20 blues 80 rune ore and 20 blues 1 rune battleaxe, 1 tooth half and 40 anagogic orts ^ last drop was such a troll. By the way good money making tip would be to bring summoning pots, yack, scrolls and picking up everyone's brews and restores.
