The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
I like that term "organic testing"... There has always been an unnamed concept in the back of my head that pits "how things are in real world" versus how things are in the test realm. Its almost like they used the beta to test the viability of the material and now they are launching it live to test the players actual willpower (I wanted to use the term "sheepish nature")/

Because dung is so... Broke? - its actually going to see an update alongside this with the new bind system. After all its a fairly easy fix both conceptually and in coding. What gives my beliefs strength is how much dung is hinged on this fix and that they had a few really good working ideas for patching this EOC legacy issue.

I am in agreement with you. I feel things are still rushed and that they won't get fixed in that two week span. But I go along with it all the same with best interests, hopeful thoughts and eagerness to explore the content whether it be perilous or not. A lot of people speak in context that the problems that do exist won't be addressed. You'll endure hardships from this because you are a post-EOC veteran. You'll find your way, learn new pitfalls and how to avoid them just like you did when you first started playing runescape.

What sort of 'scaper are you?
I'm probably all of the above. I like doing everything, but there is a slight love/hate relationship with me and PVMing.

The Ultimate Trimmed Completionist Cape!?!??!?
How about making a more realistic Completionist cape trim list? I think max number cw games is just frivolous. It should mean something. Something like "buy a set of naval gear, tricorn and the port Phasmatys flag from trouble brewing."

I'm really interested to see how the QBD goes after EOC. In the last couple days I might camp her a bit to test things out.

Me too and not for the sake of being right either. I can sympathize, coming from a non-Completionist standpoint, about not being able to do an impossible quest. For now though, and I would say the same, jagex will most likely tell players wishing to complete it to hold on for it to be patched soon. Their mindset must be to coffee as much content as possible and fix the biggest "broken" things before the EOC is released. The rest is pretty much tightening up the nuts and bolts or adding more support to the chassis.

This is exactly where I was going with things. You aren't going to see a flawless masterpiece. There's a saying "everyone's a critic" and I'm not going to deny anyone that right or the right to express their opinion. But regardless this piece is coming and for the mod part is finished. It's not this piece of marble block that hasn't been etched or cut once. It's been chipped, grinded and formed. Now, when its brought to live, we begin to polish and smooth things over for future presentation.

This is what I'm talking about. Small issues that will be hammered out later.

This isn't the first time someone has said something similar to this. I remember hearing people saying the same thing when rs2 was coming out. Welcome to Whinescape.

I'm still certain beta is doing well and is for the most part ready for release. I feel some aspects aren't mature, but regardless of what is said and done in response things will come. This is how things go with all updates. What ensues later is what matters because as long as there is a consistent resounding voice from the community it will fall on jagex ears. One example of this is ability spamming. I feel the voice on this issue is strong. I feel jagex will allow us to create ability chains which are hopefully 3-5 abilities in length.

06-Nov-2012 - Tears of Guthix update
Been there for a long time before this update. You'll likely lose that temptation soon when you see the metric [bleep]-ton of primal sets out there. That tokhaar/fire/skill/max/comp cape in dung is sooo worth it though.

No, you don't gets stats from anything from Solomon's General Store. The Dragon Keepsake Key allows you to take one wearable item, such as your rune platebody, lock it away in the Dragon Keepsake Box and use it as a cosmetic overlay exactly like the shockeye staff you buy from the store. The only stipulation is that it cannot be used as its locked away and when you reclaim that item it destroys the box you purchased. Also said cosmetic overlay will automatically display over any item you wear of the same type. For example using the rune platebody as example, it would only display the rune platebody cosmetic if you were wearing another item of that type such as an adamantite platebody, green dragonhide body, bandos platebody, etc. Held items such as weapons and I think shields are excluded from being able to be used with the DKB.

Unless you go visit the RSOF high level forums you would have seen it. I might just get a keepsake box for my max cape and buy an extra.

I really don't have melee helm. I mean I could go get it, but is it worth it?

Future Update Discussions
If you see jagex's tread with skills they are trying to make skills more than just about a physical interaction to gather or create something. While they did mention that one would most likely be a gathering skill and the other a production skill it makes me wonder... What if jagex secretly gave us a hint at a concept of the skill through how they brought us the halloween event. What I'm saying is what if one skill, lets say the gatherer skill, is actually something that supposed to be trained somewhat passively like summoning was to slayer. Maybe we could see a skill that is passively trained by selling, giving, or doing something that benefits one faction. I remember playing WoW and there being factions and you'd get experience towards faction ranks and better gear stores. I could foresee jagex doing something like this. I could also imagine their world events being the places where you would fight for your factions dominance. I could see their world events being something like weekly D7D's where one faction might be raiding crandor for resources. You might get 500 xp for killing someone of the opposite faction. I feel like I just went on a wild tangent...
