If the ratings system stays intact then requiring substance such as constructive criticism explaining why said user feels the achievement merits a 1-10/10 would be the best alternative to prevent flaming, ect. What do you guys think? Edit: I think removing one or the other would pull the community together and make the moderators jobs easier though. I know I liked the community blogs section but the lack of viewers really hurt it for me. Anyone have suggestions as to how this could be improved?

Hello fellow tifers, I've tried to stay active in these forums over the years and haven't found a better community since I started runescape and stumbled upon these boards. I love the whole board and my former favorite place to post and view was Blogscape and Rate this!. However, lately it has gotten pretty bad on both sub-forums which have transformed into a breeding ground for spam and basically no structure what so ever. Blogscape used to be a place to track your progress through your runescape journey and to showcase your achievements to the community. Now it is made up of cliques of friends who spam each others blogs. I admit I have partaken in this but I now look at it as a problem. I really wish we could improve blogscape to the point that it could return to somewhat of its former glory. It just needs more structure and moderating considering forumers have resorted to posting inappropriate things and discussing things that would never fly in a moderated zone. As for Rate This!, the main problem I see is someone getting harassed for a sub-par achievement that isn't up to the community's standard. It all starts with someone posting a very low rating with no substance which is then responded to by someone who picks that persons rating apart and starts a flame war. I don't have a solve all to this problem but I do have a few suggestions that need to be discussed with the community to form a better system that could prevent some of these problems and improve those sub-forums. Remove blogscape and incorporate it with the new community blogs to increase moderating since two separate blog spaces are harder to moderate than one. Assign more moderaters to the community blogs now that it is repackaged as one blog area. Add a poll system for rate this to give a clearer picture of the ratings a user receives. Add a rule requiring constructive criticism of some sort to every rating, mainly no 1/10's without stating why or how the user could improve. I would like to hear more idea's as to how to improve these boards and give them a nice overhaul that they rightfully deserve. My changes that I brainstormed are focused on fixing the rule breaking whilst pulling the community together closer to make for a better blog and rate this environment.

Ouch. I accidentally got that trophy when I played through. Work out what's important and go nuts. I know Assassin missions aren't needed. Yeah i got the game like over a year ago and I wasn't as much of an achievement [bleep] back then lol. I never read the achievement list and noticed that I shouldn't run around and go to strip clubs and kill people rather than do the main missions in 30 hours lol. I ended up getting the assassins missions achievement last night. I found those and the Exotic Exports one more fun that most of the main storyline missions sadly.

I just beat borderlands 1000/1000 only to find out that the other DLC achievements count towards 100% meh. I guess i'll continue working on 100% on GTA IV which turns out to be difficult. I beat the main storyline in 31 hours when I needed to do it in 30 to get the achievement so fml. I also bought New Vegas and I'm like half way done with the achievements. I love the game but I hate having to do multiple playthroughs for the achievements.

No microsoft bashing please. If you want to do that just make a thread comparing Ps3 Move sales to Kinect sales throw the Wii in there and you'll probably get all 3 sets of fan boys in there and start Armageddon of the Video Games board. I own a Wii, and 360 but no Ps3. I don't really hate on any console considering I think they all have their strong points. I'm also quite certain all are making decent returns this late in the gen.

Yeah i'm with skull, I haven't played much since I dungeoneered myself out of playing. I'll probably come on to see if those updates suck me back in.

Not sure anyone else would listen but I know I seen you commenting on blogscape and rate this and how it needs change. I think if you proposed it people would be more apt to back it. I honestly think rate this should have a system implemented such as a poll on every thread with 1-10. Give the person a rate and tell them why you rated them that way and be required to give constructive criticism rather than just 5/10 not up to my expectations even though I only have 70 runecrafting but you just achieved 91... I find it hypocritical people give bad ratings when they personally have never obtained a goal someone else takes the time to post here. I found it nice a couple years ago to just look at achievements and see stuff that I could look forward to obtaining. I understand some achievements the majority don't have but some such as this one (91 Thieving) is fast but some people just simply hate training it. (such as myself) Having a rule that requires constructive criticism would cut some of the trolling/rating a friend 10/10 with nothing to say. As for blogscape that place has turned into a place where people spam each other's blogs and criticize staff without worrying about being punished considering it's never moderated.. I think eliminating the current blogscape all together and forcing people to use the community blogs that the forum upgraded to might improve the community forcing everyone to be in one area of the boards. Assigning people to moderate those blogs would also be a step in the right direction. These solutions sure aren't perfect but I think if added upon and discussed by the staff they might improve the forums and community.

K I'm going to compare it to my own stats and give you a 10.. Turnpikes I think you're a good contributive poster but being an ass on rate this is what fuels that whole thread in general discussion about where the community is heading.. I honestly think this sub forum needs a revamp lol

I thought it would be nice to have a thread for people to post deals and bargains that they find throughout the internet and retail stores that other tipiters would find useful. The purpose is to save each other some money on good games. I think it's best to leave it open to all platforms so if you see a great deal go ahead and post it and its source. Discussing if the game is worth buying and if it's a good game, ect is encouraged. I just picked up Bioshock 2 for that price considering I never got to enjoy it since I played a friends copy when it was released. Hopefully this thread can help everyone save some money and find some good games that they wouldn't think about playing before. EDIT: All sales such as preorders are welcome. Why do people hate efficiency so much? I like to have fun myself but I also don't like spending unnecessary time on a task in any game. Can we just drop the efficiency debate, its not hurting the community that people are efficient. If anything it's helping it, I would rather read logical posts by certain forum members detailing accurate data such as DPS on weapons and how they correlate to being worth using in a dungeon or on a boss. That information actually has meaning and insight. :mellow:

Yeah I refuse to pay for the apple brand name. Especially when the most stressing thing for my computers is running runescape or streaming movies.. Are apple computers really that much better to warrant the price jump in comparison to other brands?

I've got a Toshiba Laptop, the hard drive went out after like 8 months. I have to say I got wonderful support from them though and received my computer back with a new hard drive in less than a week.. It's a cheap laptop so I really wasn't surprised. I just bought a Compaq desktop computer like a month ago for school work and stuff and haven't had any problems yet out of it. Lastly I purchased a 32" Emerson LCD Hdtv on black friday for $198.00. Anyone had experiences with these tv's? So far its worked great and no problems other than 1 dead pixel but I can only tell it's dead when I'm on a white screen on my xbox 360 so I'm really not bothered considering the tv is dirt cheap lol. Interested to hear feedback about these brands. I know I haven't had any major problems as of yet, knock on wood.

I actually make a crucial save whenever there's a choice like that, then rename it and never save over it. This way from one starting character I can take all the possible paths :smile: Yeah I made the mistake of not doing it soon enough. Now i'm at like 35 hours with quite a few achievements that I can't do until I do playthrough 2 all over again. One being hardcore mode that I didn't enable on my first playthrough. Currently my objective is to just get all the achievements i can possibly milk from playthrough 1 then focus on finishing them up on the hardcore playthrough. Main mistake was taking a random person in front of Boone and getting him mad at me. Now i can't get all companions and I have the NCR mad at me aswell. On playthrough 2 I'll have to appease the NCR and Caesar instead of Mr House. :angry:

The solution to the 4chan part if implemented could be the best forums upgrade of all time. :razz:

Multiple playthrough's are required to get all the achievements and find out what each route does. I took the House Always Wins path and failed quite a few quests but I can take the NCR path on my next playthrough aswell as the Caesars path if I save at the correct points. Thats the best thing to do imo.

Great idea, do not see it happening though. Take a page out of all the popular dg clans books and improve upon their formula's of success. As you know becoming massively popular didn't help their cases so keeping your clan underground essentially would be a great point to start. But as you said, running such things takes a lot of time out of your day which few people want to deal with.

The game is growing older and people want to become "good" by being more efficient than players were several years ago. Rate this is just friends giving friends good rates for the fact that they are friends and if you aren't popular you'll have people trolling and giving harsh posts because an achievement isn't good in their eyes. Blogscape is spam and rarely moderated like Tripsis stated. Off-topic is the only place I frequent now, it's not any better than the rest of tip.it but it isn't any worse. I never really seen meme's and such on these boards a few years prior so I assume that has become more popular in recent times. No place is perfect so I guess i'll continue to read the great advice that the "efficient nerds" give out. I really do not see why people blame those people to be the demise of tip.it when they actually try to create logical arguments which is healthy for a discussion board. It's normally people like xpx was referring to who intervene in the discussion and troll/incite flaming on both ends of the spectrum. Thats what I see in this community. :unsure:

So far i'm nearly 8 hours in and loving it. I see myself having to start all over though because right now I'm not going to befriend the legion, next playthough i'll go that route i suppose.

I liked fallout 3 a lot and was going for complete game status which takes multiple play through's but i ended up selling the game after only beating it 1.5 times :(. I'm playing New Vegas and Black Ops now so i might buy fallout 3 back when i get a chance.
