    Whoa :|
  2. Let me get your opinion straight first. So words are just words, right? No word should be censored? Now you're just being an [wagon]. You're the one who started the whole thing.
  3. You just said 'it's the parent's responsibility' I agree with that a lot. But parents still need help to keep their children away from things like that. Like I said, since songs do not have ratings where parents can see whether the song is right for their children. IMO, the main thing that children need to understand is that swearing is a taboo. In their young mind, as long as they think that 'that word is bad, it will get me in trouble', it would help keep the children from growing up as profane, racist, or sexist. But if the parents, or anyone, do not bother to do something against these words in the children's heads, they will think swearing is normal and not use it in discretion.
  4. Yeah and? I don't think you understand what kind of Western society I meant. Brazil is a 3rd world country. Uncomparable to the US, Canada, Australia, or Britain. How is the US not just or free? And since when did the US claim to be the spreader of liberty? Wrong again. I told you to stop talking about things that you do not know. Thinking that the internet is the only way to receive information is ignorant. Of all the years I lived in the Philippines, I'm up to date with every current events, and not once did I use the computer for news. It does not work like that in the Philippines. US is more stricter, sure, but again, still leagues away from being an actual theocracy. Once again, you do not talk about things you do not know. Do you know how Christian schools work? No. I go to a Catholic school myself and I'm not 'alienated' Lol, is that what you really think about Christian schools? Want me to explain how this works? You're trying to prove that the US is a fascist theocracy like you called it. By saying that "the US is on laxing sex on TV", you're only disproving your point. Oh jeez, why can't you just give a name? Seriously though, stop bashing the US everytime you can. A huge number of people here are Americans and it's disgusting to see bull [cabbage] like that.
  5. No, I ask if you're telling me that they have no reason to censor, and you said nope. I took it as 'nope, I'm not telling you that they have no reason to censor.' Why should children be 'protected' for those 'nasty' words? Because they're children. Values that are taught at a young age helps shape what s/he will become in the future. Kids are easily influenced at their age. If they think it's alright to use profanity, it would be hard to shake that off when they get older. Once they get used to that kind of language and think it's the norm, then what are they? Nothing less than profane, racist, and sexist.
  6. There's no need to. You agree that they have a reason to censor those words and why? Because kids frequent these forums. The same logic applies to censorship on anything.
  7. I'm guessing majority of these are US-based unis? I don't have much of choices really. I don't want to go too far from here :) Though University of Waterloo is supposedly really good for engineering :|
  8. So tell me again how exactly America has become a fascist theocracy? No western country would want their government to have that kind of reputation. Compare countries on the same level? Alright, go compare China and the US. So what if some countries make the US more conservative? It's still leagues away from being a fascist theocracy. One thing people shouldn't do is argue with me about the Philippines  And you do not talk about it when you have zero knowledge on how the country works. One thing you do not say is that Philippines has no culture. Of the past invasions and connections, the Philippines culture is RICH compared to most countries. A combination of Chinese-Spanish-American history, not to mention the hundreds of native tribes that exist there. Just how rich is Philippine's culture? 170 different languages exist in the Philippines. Brazil has how many? Not to mention that of the South-East Asian countries, the Philippines is so unlike the other Oriental countries such as China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, etc. You want history? How about the fact that the Philippines was invaded by the Spanish, Japanese and the Americans and has been independent for over a century now. Even though Philippines is a third world country, it's not exactly opressed. Information is everywhere there. "He was so right, though. America has really became a fascist theocracy. " ??? What? We're not arguing how late the US became lax on sex. We're discussing how the US really did become a fascist theocracy. You're really not proving your point. By telling me the US did become lax on sex as the years passed by, you're only disproving your statement that the US really did become a fascist theocracy. I don't think I remember watching a male version of Desperate Housewives or Sex and the City. Care to remind me? Dude, it's just a debate.
  9. I don't get the schedule til school starts :|
  10. Seems like the Tip.It admins censored these 'nasty' words as well. Are you telling me that what they have no reason to do so?
  11. Is that a trick question?
  12. Yeah? How? America has gotten more lax as time passed by, not stricter. So I don't understand how it has come closer to a fascist theocracy. You're not supporting your statement at all. You just mentioned 'sexual liberty.' Do you think that's one sign of being closer to a fascist theocracy? And what the heck are you talking about? I'm not talking about what people do, I'm talking about the things allowed on television. Two decades ago, there would be no such thing as Sex and the City or Desperate Housewives on the television. Now, they exist because the society is getting lax in terms of sex in the media (Is that another sign of fascist theocracy?) . And yes, those shows are about women being whored out. And au contraire, I have never seen a television show that has the same plot for men. Want to give an example? If you don't want to argue, stop spouting off stupid anti-anything comments without backing it up. No, there's a difference to what audience can get to them. No such thing as a PG-13 warning clear for parents to see whether the music is alright for their 8 yr old child. There's no such thing as a Rated-R that would restrict the kid from being able to hear the music. Parents have less power to restrict their children with music, so censorship (or a different effective way to keep children from being able to hear explicit lyrics or watch explicit videos) that would come from a group set up by the music industry would be helpful.
  13. I'm sorry to break this to you, but every war has its casualties. IMO, this war is even more reasonable than the First World War.
  14. Why should it be censored then? And Api wasn't judging America from a video two decades ago. He was judging America on something that was said in that video two decades ago. And the thing said was that America was HEADING towards a fascist theocracy, so I can't see anything wrong in what Api said. Other than being a little bit off topic, but we can handle that. Oy, you could use a different word in real life as well, shen you spill coffee. Tarantino uses the swearing also for stylish reasons, just like his excessive use of violence. Not that I'm having problems with it, I'm against censorship. But I honestly can't see why a cussing word in a rap song is any worse than when it's used in a movie. Um, he said this, So yes, he is judging what America 'has become' from a video two decades old. Sure, it said it was heading to a fascist theocracy, but did it really happen? If it did, rap songs would've been banned left and right. Sex wouldn't exist on tv right now. But what happened? You have cartoon sitcoms that involve sex and cursing, shows like Desperate Housewives or Sex in the City that is nothing more than a bunch of women being whored out. And when was the last time the American government banned a song for its lyrics? Cursing in a rap song is different from cursing in a movie because AFAIK, there is no such thing as a song rating system.
  15. There is nothing democratic about forcing it on people. Yea, Saddam killed some people, but have we not killed MORE? No. Next question? We haven't? My mistake. I thought 30,000 more civilian deaths was indeed more deaths. But somehow, in your alternate reality, it is indeed NOT more. =; Next. Did American soldiers actually kill those 30,000 people? No. Maybe I'm wrong, but as far as I know, those numbers include civilians killed by the insurgents as well. You do know that in one Shia uprising, Saddam Hussein's army killed 30,000 people there and then, right? Here's a quote from Andrew Sullivan:
  16. there's a repost of this topic every month...
  17. I agree with censorship in music. But like always, it depends on the situation. Api, try not to judge what America is now from a video two decades old.
  18. No, but you see. If the technologies are combined, they can create the apocalypse! Say sand-tech's ability to launch missiles via camel is used with the city-tech's (as pronounced by Tuong Lu Kim) nuclear capability, that would be one hell of a force to reckon with. Not even the combined forces of special ops from NATO can stop that.
  19. Exactly the same with me... except I'm still loving my break :( Gratz man :)
  20. Nothing. NATO would infiltrate that information using the NSA and plan a counter-attack. On August the 21st, JTF2, IDF, FSB, FAST, and SAS would destroy each and every camel in every Islamic country. Hence, no more sand-tech to use WMDs. It will be called Operation H.A.P.P.Y. or S.A.N.E. Take your pick. don't bomb me :(
  21. Not true. I don't think Amazing Race is cheap to produce :|
  22. Wow, I came here ready to type 'Only in America' Only in the United Kingdom this time I guess.

Right. It was when they questioned the Chinese guy about the Four Father thing. I'll have to think of better ideas now

I forgot their names, but there was something like balloon war where you go on balloon and pop the other people's ballooon's. There was also the tank thing where you just keep on defending the base from the enemies.Oh, and of course Mario. I'm gonna admit that the only person who can beat that game is my mom and my dad. My mom is the best one, but she cheats and uses the hundred lives trick. SHe probably knows more classics than anyone else here as she was playing games before most people here were born  I was like 5 or something when I had my NES (called it family computer back then) and I sucked at most games  Ooh, and there was also the SNES my friend had. I remember coming over to his place and we'll play mostly adventure games. There was this one where it was a co-op and samurai people just come out of every corner. There was also this Mickey and Minnie mouse adventure  Ooh, and SFII too. Those days were fun. I can't remember the names cause that was almost a decade ago :P
  25. Yes. Maybe they're not as advanced as us, but that doesn't make them any less of being aliens. Or there's always the conspiracy where aliens took us from different planets and put us all in this Earth for a reality show.
