  9. ^ Yeah he was a genius. I wish I could get myself to buy the collection. Has anyone read A Modest Destiny? I used to read it a while back until the creator got pissed off at something then turned it off a few years back. I just looked it up today again and was surprised to actually see it up. http://www.squidi.net/comic/amd/guide_amd.php Some comics I saved on my HD:

  13. we're not talking about these forms of technology being efficient anytime soon. but to grovel and panic for lack of resources makes no "logical" sense.
  14. is this a joke? what are you babbling about? look at Dubai. they made a city within a span of a decade and they had no problem with the resources. there's still a lot of resources available, not to mention the amount of untapped reserves. we don't have to cover earth either. *other* planets do exist.

  16. religion is a tool. it's up to the person how to use it. so to answer the title - yes, people have used religion to benefit mankind.
  17. and that's pretty much when i didn't care anymore. if we get nanobots that repair wear and tear on our bodies and keep us perpetually young, we'll flood the planet with people, not be able to survive because of lack of food/fresh water/shelter/space/jobs etc. not to mention i'm sure that would end up causing more wars over the resources people will have. the day we get nanobots to keep us young, is the day humans begin their decline because we'll wipe ourself out. although i'm sure we'll wipe ourselves out some other way too. not really. i used to think this way too, but realize these: * by the time we have that technology our space programs would be capable of colonizing other planets * there is a lot of unused space in earth. i don't know what people are saying about overpopulation when there's a lot of land we can use. e.g. Canada, United States, Russia, Africa, etc. - these countries/continent are larger in size compared to India/China and none have even crossed the billion pop. threshold * at least 71% of earth is unused space. why? because this is covered by the ocean. the ocean is basically untapped space considering we can build cities in it and over it. for example, look at Dubai's man-made islands. another example is this:
  18. What the hell is this trainwreck? I don't recall reading this thread at all
  19. I put away A Case of Need. Not my type of book. I finished reading Timeline though. Has to be the longest Crichton book I've read by far. Deciding between Binary or Andromeda Strain.
  20. I don't get it. Why didn't they just make the already released versions of Vista faster instead of wasting their time making something else? Because Win7 isn't just faster than Vista. They changed the UI, power efficiency, touch support, etc.
  21. when i knocked her up im like oh yeah. i was hoping our child would be like half zombie half human. but no, it's a worthless little girl. maybe i should've had a boy instead oh and i felt so bad for the guy who put her together. he was begging when i wouldn't leave. poor guy lol
  22. Read Rising Sun by Crichton too. Not that good. I'm on A Case of Need now. I really need to get a hold of Next.
  23. I married Lady Gray. Was hoping I'd get some special kid. But no. She lives in Giles' farm now.
