  1. Well at least i wasnt far off, my guess was third. I thought about crackers but then i thought that there may be alot because of the whole duping incident, guessed they must have been popped though. Half wine never came into my head to be honest. I think Santas would be more common than both pumpkins and easters Also i think 1/3 pies got changed to half pies... lol so everyone with 1/3 pies got more pie  A long time ago, one of the Jagex mods answered a query about this on the official runescape forum. Something to the effect that 1/3 pies still exist, but the accounts that have them have not been logged in since then. I believe he said that there were less than 10 of them left. Unless Jagex changed the 1/3 pies, as of a year ago, they were still around. Assuming Jagex is telling the truth.
  2. Okay, fair enough, I didn't really bother to check. I suppose finding a MUD isn't too hard, but how many people even know about them? Perhaps I may not be right on this, but if i mentioned MUD to everyone I met, I'd be lucky to find 1 person who might have a clue as to what I'm saying. However, if I go around asking about MMORPGs, though there are still few people, it certainly beats out 1. I just see it as with the boom of the MMORPG, the accessibility increased, the transparency increased. It is more well known. There was once a time on the internet where the only conversation was intelligent conversation, there was no spam, no viruses. The internet used to be an easy way for top scientists to transfer informatoin to each other. Even when the world wide web went mainstream, viruses and spam still lagged a bit behind. How many people play MUDs? How long have these people been playing MUDs for? I would bet that there are less people playing MUDs than runescape and most of them have been playing for years. Solutions? Unfortunately, I can think of little to none. Raising membership fees would work, but we have to keep in mind, graphically, customer support, gameplay: this all pales in comparison to most other MMORPGs. Although I'd be against it, no longer offering free version would in fact solve a lot of problems. But I am a free player myself. It would be possible to hire more people for customer support who will spend their entire time finding rule breakers. But silly immature people will always be here, whether we like it or not.
  3. I believe I am the one which said that larger communities become worse. However, I may not have been specific enough. I agree, the MUD community, has been extraordinary in their ability to remain a good commnunity in nearly all games. But keep in mind, MUDs are not nearly as easily accessible of a medium as Runescape is. People must find MUDs in order to play them. Runescape can be found on miniclip even. MUDs have escaped this by remaining as a relatively exclusive community. By forcing people to work to find good games they will wnjoy, it keeps those who hate to work, i.e. those who scam and cheat, away from the game. Okay, rereading, that may be a bit extreme, but it conveys the point.
  4. Uh, grain has never stacked.... And high alcing costs nats....
  5. This might work out, but it would inevitably spawn those seeking additional prayer exp to pay players to die repeatedly in order to bury the bones for exp. Wouldn't you love to get paid 2k just to die?
  6. Interesting ideas, what I will reply will nowhere match what you have. Originally, Runescape had less people, and therefore these people felt a strong connection with each other. As time went one, more people came, and inevitably the community broke down. While originally only those few who were strong fans of MMORPG played runescape, they all had a bit of respect. The MMORPG realm has increased rapidly since then and with it, tons of people jumping on the bandwagon. With all the people jumping on the bandwagon, things just have to break down. I personally find the downfall of Runescape to be in its increased player base. By making it easier for people to play, it allows more players, which is better for Jagex, but, for the most part, worse for the people playing it. Forgive me for sounding elitist, but small communities tend to work out better than larger ones.
  7. I would say by selling EVERYTHING, they didn't have a bank back then after all, and when the bank first came out, it could only store money. Or maybe there was always a gold bank? I'm not really sure, I came in when it could only store money.
  8. Uh, even with my experiences in RSC, I don't think that what your talking about was in this game. The only thing with alcohol before was you could drink until you could train attack on the dummies with pures or you used to be able to drink and get a crazy amount of strength but that was a long time ago as well.
  9. The runescape community has always been full of scammers. I'd be about a week and a half into the game there were plenty of scammers. I got scammed the first day I was here (iron full helm :( it was a lot back then).
  10. Isn't there a house thing where you can get some of the types of custom beer?
  11. Only members mine pure essence and its where essence always is. I think? Try Help and Advice next time.
  12. This would have to wait until clan integration and formal pking team integration happens. After they make it so that you can form real teams in the wilderness such as with ur clan mates, the idea will spread to the duel arena.
  13. F2p was made as a standalone many years ago. Members was added in order to help supplement the funds and offset costs. I don't believe that f2p really needs any updates, don't get me wrong there. But you are certainly insulting f2p by making it anything less than a full game. I would perhaps compare this to google. It's similar, but not quite the same. Google first started a free service but it didn't make them much money. They then created an entire ad system that has now made google millionaires. Starting with a basic product, then creating add-ons to make money. Once again, f2p is in fact a full game. But updates are by no means necessary.
  14. F2p is no trial. Members is simply an expansion pack.
  15. Personally, I find that the belief of strength pures results from the availability of only strength potions in f2p and originally in RSC. In this way someone with 1 atk, 99 str, 1 def would get the bonus of the str potion as 9 str levels (it is 10% right?), effectively about 3 combat levels higher. 99 atk, 1 str, 1 def and 1 atk, 1 str, 99 def would both get no bonus (yes, extreme, but it makes the point). Additionally this was initially created in the 3 hit system. The best way to kill anyone was to kill them in 3 hits. Thus high damage was essential. Now, I believe as you do that a more balanced pker will do better. But old values die hard. edited for a typo.
  16. Personally, clan integration would be great. Clans are an intricate part of many other games, why not this one? Sides, can you think of a better money sink? make clans have upkeep costs, defend costs, etc.
  17. Hammer for smithing? That never gets upgraded either, still 1 gp... Knife for Fletching? Still 1gp... Needle Thread for Crafting? Water filled vial for Herblore? Sides, I like burning things.
  18. Yes thank you for that Tomato  . Unfortunatly, Construction will definatly be p2p only. This has been something people have been looking forward to for a long time, so they wanna make the best of it. Yes, long long time...since the days of varrock park...well, PoH at least... Mahogany and Teak being members really give it away.
  19. Uh, shouldn't that be the other way around? More Supply with the same demand has a lowered price? The prices have stayed steady, they arent going anywhere fast. Rune has been about 14k-15k a bar for a long time. Seeing a few people selling full rune at 175k isn't a big deal. But if everyone started selling at 175k....And are you sure that included kite?
  20. Without High Alc, people would use the bandit's general store in the wilderness.
  21. Would anyone happen to know what the melee damage formula is? Or even how to calculate the max hit? I know there is a calculator but does anyone know the formula that it uses or does it just reference a table?
  22. by then chains will be bout 500k ea, so, more like, selling blue p hat 2.1 billion d chains...i think a new kind of currency would be adept to the market, ie ppl will start trading everything in rune, rune would have a set price of 50k ea, and so someone with way more then 2.1b would instead have 42k rune plates, which would be equal to one price cap! You know, thats an interesting concept. Personally it sounds a lot like in Diablo II how Stones of Jordan were a standard for a while. This actually might work out...
  23. Of course houses area a good idea, people have been waiting for them since the locked area in Falador.
  24. Well, actually, Jagex has full and total control of our accounts. First, they can easily look up your password, hence why real Jagex staff will never ask you for your password. I'm not sure where you got the idea that jagex doesn't know what we are doing. Truthfully, Runescape has a built in keylogger as well as click logger to slightly help with autoing as far as it seems to me.
