Right. I've had 3D Studio Max 6 for about a week now. I've been messing around with it a few hours everyday basically (been sick), reading tutorials and thelike; thus I consider myself decent enough to post a few. I basically just messed around - and since I have no clue how to add textures in 'Max, I decided to make the best of it, in Photoshop. My first real trend-'hore render. I know that the brushing is terrible, the render itself is rather plain... and it hasn't got that "KA-POW" look most good 'Max renders have. Teh 'SHROOOMS are here!! Yeah... mhm... sickness -> illusions -> craxy pict-oh-rs. Made it today. It probably had over 30 layers in the end - I had my fun with the almighty layer masks. And before you ask, yes the 'SHROOOMS was made using a tutorial. So if there are any experienced 'Max users here, please give me some input and feedback of what I did good, and what/the many things I could've done better. One other thing; are there any presetted textures?! Because each one I make are lame-lame. Yes. Help? Oh yeah, please do not post comments such as "cool 7/10". 1. Has the quality declined? Yes and no. Yes because I see users here who joined "Media Board" and started doing graphics the same time Wyrm and Keiph did. But as I look on their sigs and whatnots now, they aren't any better than the people posting "R8 my f1r5t s1g!1!". And no because I've seen many users here going from terrible to utterly brilliant artists. 2. Is the pixel trend positive? Hm, I guess it is. The positive part outweighs the negative, anyway. It contributes to peoples' more creative sides... - nothing more I can say about it really... 3. What keeps people coming back? To get ego-boosts from 10-year olds; who thinks texture- and render filters makes good art, and who aren't capable of making a comprehendable sentence to save their life. 4. How many rate my whatever posts are too many? As I hardly ever look at them, they don't really bother me. But when a whole page is solely filled with "reight my fitrst...", I immediately go somewhere else. 5 What kind of posts do you REALLY ENJOY. Discussion threads like this one. Even though I don't participate in them most of the times, I enjoy reading them. 6. For those who have left , cut back activity or are considering it, why? I have cut back on my activity here yes, and I often consider to leave. Basically because I have no motivation whatsoever to continue doing graphic. Heck, I can honestly say that the quality of my images has decreased majorly the past 6 months. The only thing I am remotely decent at doing now, is photomanips - but I use stockphotos! Congratulations, you achieved to make a decent image - just 75% not by you... I need to find another hobby... // Azvi.

Yes, I would. JAGeX however, gave us permission to use their characters. No, I did not make the "persons" in my sig. But the artists in the band, as well as the owner of their official website has given us permission to use them. Also, just to be sure, I even messaged the photographer and he/she also gave permission. // Azvi.

Keiph, I couldn't agree with you more. I quite frankly have grown quite sick of this board; as 99% of the posts all has something to do with, as you said, "Rate me frist pixi!!1". And no, it's not even remotely funny anymore. In fact, it's come to a point where I actually hardly ever look at any posts, other than the ones I am 100% sure will be worthwhile to click on. Is that how it's supposed to be? [bleep] no. But it's also kind of wrong to telling people off, and saying they should stop "posting their crappy art" - this ain't no naz'i board, people are entitled to post their so-called "art" and get enlightening replies. There ain't really nothing we can do about it. But I totally agree with what someone said, the mods should make a sticky, where all the "rate my first yadda-yadda-sig" posts could be. I also think the mods should create a competition thread or something once a month, and the winner would get a custom rank or something. That's right. I have this idea for a sig, but since I can't even remotely draw, I'm asking you guys to make it for me. Details: basically, what I want, is a horror-themed sig. With the band Lordi (saw them live at the Nightwish concert - they were their supportband) I made an example here: It's really horrid, I know. But it was to help to give you a bit of help. If you want better images of them, check out their website: http://www.lordi.org Also, to give a good clue as to how they are as a band, do download their video to "Blood Red Sandman" here. Only 12 mb. Back to the sig, I want the band to spread death and destruction as they stroll through this medievil village. Please exaggerate!! :) And I want Lordi, the leadsinger's alias, to shoot out this ray of light (horrific example in sig) at me/the person who looks at the sig, sort of ... ugh, I'm really sick atm, so I can't really explain better. I also want the whole atmoshpere to be horror-influenced. When you look at the sig, it should be really freaky and chaos-ish! By vector-type sigs, I will accept pixel-sig submissions. But unless you are really talented (i.e Shaw and Jeppoz) please make it in Photoshop rather than paint. Because I want no shark edges whatsoever, I want everything to look smooth and flow together nicely! Everything related to drawing and vector will be accepted. As for the text, I am yet to figure out what I want. Because it needs sometype of a quote - possibly from one of their songs. Anyway, I will get back to you on that. ... oh yeah, I forgot to mention the dimensions, it must be 150x300! Payment: I am somewhat low on cash atm in RS, and I need to pay the winner of the VoltageLive banner too (still under the discussion-stage) but I can pay you at least 400k for it, which is basically nothing compared to the standards nowadays... but... uhm... if you want, I could throw in a Halloween mask or something. Piece - Icy Hatred Concept - 10/10 - To me, this piece evokes a feeling of loneliness, or that a person is lost, and he or she isn't sure how to get back on track. Colours - 9,5/10 - The icy texture and colour is just... executed scarily perfect. However, if I should be super picky, I think the blood could use a darker colour. >.< Effects - 10/10 - Seriously, they're just perfect. Nothing more to add. :) Text - 8/10 - Eventhough what you did to the text was brilliant, I think you should incorporate it more, like someone said. Make it looke carved into the ice. Cuts - The iceicle is a big turnoff, IMO. It really disturbs me. :( Reehmouve plix+?!11 Anyway, other than that, this is probably one of your best one thus far. I rarely take a post seriously, when the author is making up own words; what exactly is an "amature"? Some kind of mamal? Also, I couldn't help but to laugh when I read a line in your post: Who elected you as the president, judge and hammer of what is good pixel art? You have no right, what so ever, to call you a better pixeler than anyone else (which you obviously are). You are entitled to your own opinion, but asking people to stop "posting poo art" is uncalled for. - As far as I'm concerned, you fit very well under that label yourself. So shut up. // Azvi.

Hahaha, okay. Major misunderstanding here. First image, with Tuomas Holopainen, is completely brushed - however, I did not brush him, I used a stock photo, whereafter I added some effects to make him look more ÃÆÃâÃâüber. Second image, with Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen, is one I used a stockphoto in the background, it's a water- and island scene, which I later blurred beyond recognition, whereafter I added several layers of brushing ontop. Used stockphoto of him also, which I also altered quite a bit. Third image, with Marco Hietala, is one I used not one, but two stockphotos, flipped them, blended, and brushed. I used a stockphoto of him of course. (I have edited it a bit now, as you can see in my signature, made him darker, and altered the text) Fourth image, with Jukka Nevalainen, brushed the background, and used a stockphoto of him. Fifth, used stockphoto of her of course, I also used a stockphoto for the background, blurred it, and added several layers of brushing ontop. Is that clear enough? :) // Azvi.

Tttia, the forth and first ones are 100% brushed - and I brushed a good +50% on the others as well, thus I said mostly - if any of you think that's wrong, then sue me. However, you can't call me a lier, because it's true. Anyway, thanks for the honest input. // Azvi.
