Plus, for me, the time I am spending inside the port is fun. The time I spend making gp in game is not as fun.

100% failure is a bug. The percentage is correct, but it *is* random. Probability doesn't work out evenly with only a few missions. Probability only works out to the expected value if you have thousands of missions to spread the difference over. If you averaged all the attempts at 95% voyages, I'm sure it would come out to about 95% by now. But you are such a small sample, and it is random.

Tip.It Times - 16th December 2012
The article about the ports, I think doesn't do it justice. The eastern lands have 6 areas, which is quite a lot. The content takes a long time to obtain and is highly exclusive, which is nice. The money sink isn't really there at all, I think it was just adding cost to some things to balance them out a little.

I was not referring to the auto calculate. Just the sorting. It is really dumb that we can't sort or crew by type, level or stats. It is a huge huge pain to keep track of crew because we cannot sort things.

Now if only the game window had this feature like it really should have... Jagex needs to hire better interns ;)

I assumed that the workshop only boosted the special skilling and not all bank skilling.

I think the deck upgrades are more powerful than the eastern overseers (300 gunpowder each!!) and the deck items are 300 gunpowder but give a 500 increase in the ship's stat in a single skill compared to the bamboo upgrades. While overseer is great, I don't think it's worth putting the deck upgrades off. Now they are probably better than the other ship upgrades..

They don't because they don't really calculate this. I wouldn't trust a single figure Jagex has listed as an XP/hr when compared to the data that Gemeos uses.

Yea, my friend had her ship repaired by bamboo without realizing it as well..

I lost a crew member last night, but at least it was a crappy one.. Failure can result in 0) No reward 1) No XP 2) Damage Ship 3) Dead Crewman 4) Dead Captain

I believe personal bonus can be gained from voyages, and might not be directly tied to the trait they have.. That or the trait applies more value to higher level crew...

I don't think it will have much short term impact though. It may take a while to see. The main issue is that the gp created by alching takes much longer to exit the game.

Alcing got faster? No. Alching is the same but other rates are faster and cheap (combat) so now a lot of people who would have alched are not. While there have always been better methods for both xp/hr and gp/hr alching was popular because it was easy. This might impact the value of gp if enough gp starts filtering out of the game. I doubt it will have that big of an impact...

Disregarding the lower count members works only as long as they are lower in every aspect that matters for that voyage. There are some shortcuts, and right now running all the options wouldn't take "too" long on modern computers, so it is solvable by brute force at least. The real issue is figuring out how all the specials work. I might take a crack at it sometime when I'm bored, assuming the guy who did the javascript adds all the other requested features. EDIT: Pro Tip about hovering over stats is cool, I like seeing where bonuses come from. I think it might be possible that they gain personal bonus from some missions, but I wasn't careful enough to record the original count of my crews to be sure.

I'm not saying the app would be difficult, but solving the problem would basically need to bruteforce all possible crew/captain/ship combos

Barmaid gossip I believe is every week on thursday GMT And I believe it's best to get it after the voyages are done so you gain a voyage instead of it replacing one. (or do it first before the voyage page has been refreshed.. not sure)

The human approach will often find acceptable solutions though difficult to prove they're the optimal one. However it is much much simpler than editing a database/spreadsheet with each crew and maintaining that value for upgrades and crew level ups. I think finding good but maybe not perfect solutions is good, and it is a great way to stretch your skills.

I'm saying even if you knew all the values the actual problem you are trying to solve (mathematically speaking) is difficult. You have 20 some odd crew, up to 5 captains, several upgrades. I don't think the effort involved is really worth it...

That's actually not a trivial problem. I'm fairly sure it would take a really complex excel formula to figure it out.

Slate is the next region as far as I know, meaning that no one will get it for at least a few days (because as you noticed each day only gets us a little bit into the region)

I've never failed a 100% success mission. I've failed a 89% mission, and I've heard a fail at 98% but no one I know has evidence of a failed mission at 100%. Plus we have Mod confirmation that you cannot fail at 100% (meaning that if you do it is a bug) I think the other stats might help if you are below 100% in the required ones, then higher seafaring or morale might make it less likely to die etc. But that would be very difficult to prove.

We may not have much choice over what scrolls we go for. I know that we can have them focus efforts but we really don't know what that means.

Point of interest, the 800k/hr figure is not true per-say anymore. With the recent changes to the SoF, you actually get fewer lamps and more pendants. Pendants don't impact your XP/hr as much. The *total* xp/package of the highest spins (just counting lamps) is around 800k-1m maybe a bit more. However that includes lamps for all skills not just the lamps you can assign to skill of your choice. I wasn't able to spin all of the spins in 1hour. and the cost is ridiculous anyways. I believe the actual spin rate is maybe 400k/hr in the skill of your choice + xp in random skills + prismatic pendants you can use but won't as drastically change your xp rate.

muggi, bruno mentioned both gwd and nex gear :) -- In my opinion being limited to missions is alright, because it slows possible progress down. I like that it will take time. It seems the voyage lengths will also increase making it more difficult to do all 12 voyages in 1 day. I got about 3 hours of time from one day. I feel like that is more than plenty for PoP, and yet still enables keeping the items and gear rare enough so that we won't see them for a while. It is nice to have fun content that is almost like a skill in length (that you can't just have 99 instantly) I do understand complains about being done.. I wish there were some minigames or other activities one could do in the ports to spice this up.
