When I killed him , I necer moved from the first spot I appeared on. As soon as I appeared I let fly with ranged. As I hit him first he never closer.

You can range him from the spot you first appear at. I never moved and shot him to death.

It's hard to melee the gorilla with protect melee on. before [garden tool] dies he gets upset and beats his chest and regains health. I was able to range 1 of the gorillas in the south of the temple by a ladder.

The kalphite cave is due west from the shantey pass. Once you get out the pass you can run to the cave without wearing desert robes, so you can wear normal armor. You can make it without taking 1 hit of thirst but bring 1 waterskin for safety. You also need 1 rope to enter cave.

You could always mine iron in the goblin caves from Lost tribe and sell to goblins or run to bank-chest from RFD and bank.
