I think strength is overated. I have 99 str and still have hits of "1". Like you said, I think hitting more often is better than having the occasional high hit.

I got top and bottom:

Tombstones stay the same until you change it. I tested it myself thinking the same thing.

You have to talk to specific villagers: Fanellaman: West of the village, by the boat. Gabooty: Inside the fences. He's the shopkeeper, but trading sticks are the currency - coins are no good to him. Jagbakoba: South of the village, near the 2 fires and the lonely hut. He's the hunter. Kareday: In between the hut of Trufitus and the western one, north of the opening in the fence. Layleen: Follow directions to Sharimika, then continue west across another bridge. Mama Buffeta: Follow directions to Sharimika, then go down the ladder in Sharimika's hut. She also tells you about cooking the spiders. Murcaily: Minigame starting point, east of Trufitus. Guards the gate to the exotic woods area. Rionasta: North of Timfraku's hut. Charges 10 trading sticks to bank items for you. Safta Doc: The most northern hut with the anvil is his house. He can also make fancy machetes, but at ruinous prices (Gabooty sells them cheaper).

I agree, it used to be a good thing when you found something you liked in the general store, but now it is worthless! Example: maple logs in the general store can be bought for 72 ea! 72 ea! But you can buy them from GE for around 55 ea ! WTF ! I used to love to check every gen store I passed, but now why bother. I think when Warhammer Age of Reckoning comes out, Goodbye RS !

Try to get the Bones to Peaches Tablet instead, saves space. If no altar available, you could ask online for one.

Mage Training I actually finally unlocked it last weekend. I am lvl 118 combat. It took about 2 days and the biggest cost was the natures runes. I used it for my next slayer assignment, which was 150 bloodvelds. I LOVED it !

Another good place is abberant spectres, just go into the bloodveld section for bones.

Since the recent update, Ali's rune shop is USELESS. The only way to get cheaper runes from a shop is the chaos guy that tellys you to abyss, but you risk pk'rs. The CHEAPEST way to buy runes is from other players on forums , NOT the GE.

I'm pretty sure you have to do the fishing things first. Also you must have completed Tai Bwo Wannai Trio. Lemme check a few other website guides.
