  1. The popularity of gaming in South Korea is insane. There are professional Starcraft teams that have their own coaches and uniforms, some teams expect ten hours a day of training from their members. There's even a tv station devoted entirely to professional gaming. If there's any country where a guy is going to game himself to death, you can bet it's South Korea.
  2. No, I didn't get the idea from Pixelfreak, allthough I did read their tutorial  Anyway, the entire thing has been done with GraphicsGale, which means I can probably animate it later, but for now I'll just focus on finishing the image.

I have no idea, but my friend Google might know... Anyway, I could think of a few ways I'd rather spend the extra money, the TI-83 I got four years ago still works fine for me...
  4. It's a WIP of my first large isometric pixel image, a replica of Escher's Waterfall. I'll add tiles to the water tract, bricks to the outside walls, detail to the water and a proper background. I'll also eventually turn the walls into a proper penrose staircase, allthough I'm saving that for last. C/c is appreciated.
  5. Hehe, pretty funny stuff, and there's even some basic truth in there :P
  6. I recently bought an NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX 4000 (Don't laugh, I'm poor :( ), and I noticed it has an S-video 7-pin TV-out port. I'd like to know if it is possible to link my computer to a TV with only a SCART entrance. Also, if I also have a normal monitor plugged in, will I get a screen image on both the tv and the monitor or is it an either/or system? And since I also have a Gamecube, I'd like to know if I can pull out the link cable on the tv end and then plug it back in without having to reboot my pc to get an image on the tv.
  7. As far as I know, this is the first time someone has produced a collectible card game (think Magic: the Gathering or Yu-Gi-Oh) based on a webcomic. It's nice that the art of the cards is produced by the illustrator of the comic, but somehow I doubt if it'll be a real succes, because outside of fans of the comic it really doesn't seem to appeal to a larger market. Still, it'll be a nice thing to have for the real fans I suppose.
  8. I never 'prepare' to cheat, I just learn for tests the same way as always, but if the occasion somehow comes along I don't see why I shouldn't take it. The last time I did it was a few months ago, when I had to do a Greek translation I missed because I was ill. I was placed in an empty office and left alone with a dictionary in my bag. It didn't even help me that much because the test was mostly focused on testing knowledge of grammar.

We get something similar to that over here, allthough there isn't really a specific dress code except that most of them wear army boots. Luckily, during the summer they all migrate north to campings on the island of Terschelling, where they spend their vacations drinking away the money they earned with their minimum-wage job at the local supermarket.
  10. Google is your friend, as is http://www.google.com.
  11. This is my first attempt at isometric pixel art. The letters, cars, jumping person and background were drawn individually in mspaint and slapped together and layered in photoshop. Constructive criticism and advice is welcome.
  12. Heh, loads of grease was probably two-thirds of the record, allthough he'd probably still need an insane amount of training...
  13. Actually, the first time I saw one was long before those movies :P Anyway, those movies can be great inspiriation if you decide to do that.
  14. An old favourite is the shilouette play, allthough seven people may be a bit too much for that. The basic idea is to set up a large white screen at the front of the stage and put a strong lamp behind it. By standing between the lamp and the screen you'll create shadows on the screen. With a few simple props you can easily create a hilarious bit of cartoon-like humor.
  15. That huge thing at the end of Chrono Trigger, I think Lavos was his name. I once spent an entire day trying to solo him with just a level 76 Chrono (you can warp directly to him after Marle dissapears into the teleportation device at the fair).
  16. I've resized the sig to TIF standards, and the bird skulls have been brightened a tad to bring them out more.
  17. I made this sig out of boredom. I decided to let winamp select a random song from my playlist and make a sig for whatever it picked. It ended up picking the song Angina by Tristania.
  18. So lovely. Entire countries are constantly teetering on the brink of famine, millions don't even have acces to clean drinking water, and here we are with stuffing your face as an actual competition. I'm so damn proud to be a human being right now.
  19. If they are going to remake it, they shouldn't just give the graphics a quick spit and polish and throw it out there. A good example of how it should be done is the remake of the original Resident Evil for the Gamecube. They've rebuilt the graphics from the ground up, they've added an entirely new subplot, some deadly new enemies (remember kids, always burn those corpses if your shotgun blast didn't decapitate them ;) ) and many new paths and puzzles making it a virtually new game even if you played the original version.
  20. The status of American society today is a complete perversion of the free state the founding fathers had in mind. You live in a nation where a judge can ban you from teaching a child your religion. You live in a nation where showing up at demonstrations or rallys can result in ending up on a secret service blacklist without even knowing it, which could result in the loss of your job, denial of financial services, or worse. You're in a nation where you can be arrested and held for weeks on end without even seeing a lawyer. America is like a hippy that grew up to become a ruthless CEO.
  21. Asrai - Touch In The Dark would be my suggestion, or Vinland Saga by Leaves' Eyes
  22. One of the clearest supports of a theory of evolution are the Darwin finches. When Charles Darwin first arived at the Galapagos islands, he noticed that there was a finch population on many islands, and that they were virtually identical, except for the shape and size of their beaks. This was because each of the different islands had different kinds of food available. The finches arived as a large flock and then got sepperated among the different islands. Over a time of many years the finches with beaks that were most adapted to gather the food common to their island passed on their genes, until each of the island had it's own distinct species of finches. They all came from the same genus, the Geospiza (ground finches) or the Camarhynchus (tree finches), but genetic research has proven that they've evolved into entirely different species, so different that if you put a male from one island and a female from another together, you'd never get fertile offspring, which is the main condition for two individuals being of the same species.
  23. Dude an E is not a good grade in england dammit! It does not stand for excellent! It does in Harry Potter, and Hogwarts is in the UK :P Anyway, I used to get presents up to the first year of high school or something, but since I passed the year with a passing grade in every single subject this time my parents decided to buy me plane tickets, and I'm not about to complain about that :P
  24. Well, if we are sticking to only one song... Sonata Arctica - The Power Of One
  25. Before Azvareth can come in here :P Nightwish - Oceanborn Epica - Consign To Oblivion Ayreon - The Universal Migrator, Part II: Flight Of The Migrator
