  1. The drama is delicious.
  2. You can hit SHIFT+ scroll with mouse wheel to quickly add materials to a construction site. Of course, this is assuming you have the latest version of Gilbertus' client plus the update patch from Pacho. These can be found under the Critique and Ideas section of H&H forums. Download the 64-bit ZIP from Pacho's thread (stickied under IRC capable client), then go to Gilbertus' thread and click his link to download a haven.jar file. Then extract the files from Pacho's ZIP file to a folder on your desktop or whatever and then replace his haven.jar file with the haven.jar from Gilbertus. This should give you the modified client that has x-ray vision, mapping capabilities, multiple hotbars, and other game breaking [cabbage] that the major clans used to have uniquely to them until Gilbertus made his client public. This is if you want the custom client where you can make the screen bigger, etc. The custom client also has night vision (so you can easily see in the dark as if it were day time). It's your choice, though. Personally, I use the custom client.
  3. If you find a nearby village, I might be able to warp you some stuff over there, if my AGI level permits.
  4. Here's a list of tips: -Make stone axes until 200 LP, then buy lumberjacking -Buy Carpentry, Will to Power, Hearth magic, Plant Lore, and Farming next. -Save up the 4k LP and buy Yeomanry (crucial if you wanna prevent your stuff being robbed) -Build a log cabin and surround it with a moderate sized fence (to keep animals out) -Buy Foraging and try to up perception and exploration (Perception is raised through eating carrots and plaice) and then look for wild windsown weeds and hang them on a drying rack to get seeds for farming -DO NOT BUY SWIMMING. You WILL die in a matter of seconds from drowning. I wouldn't buy swimming, and I have 400 CON. -Build that brick wall when you can. -Use Yeomanry to stake a personal claim (needs LP to expand) -Get Lawspeaking and then save up 30k LP and make a village claim* That's all I can think of for now. Don't let this seem like it's overly complicated because it really isn't, and you'll get the hang of things really quickly. If you get Knocked Out, just quickly spam the "Teleport to Hearth" button so you can teleport to safety before getting killed. *If I know where you are living or whatever, I can set up a village claim for you. With that said, are there any villages close to you, and what are their names?
  5. If you made a tip.it village, try to build it on a mudflat or grassland so you don't have to plow land before paving with stone. Likewise, try to get the Masonry skill and use the mudflat to bake clay into bricks and then make a brick wall. This is one of the things you need to do first since there are a lot of people that can break wooden walls (palisades) with their own hands, without a ram. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the forums because there are lots of cool people that can give you advice. You can also ask me for advice once you guys get organized. I'm a 'veteran' player and know quite a bit about the game. However, I am afraid that I can't join the village because I have obligations to serve at one of my friend's camp that we made. Also, you can spawn at hearth fires by making a hearth secret (try to make it hard to guess) and then sharing it with anyone that is interesting in joining the tip.it village. Just get that wall up FAST but keep the village a reasonable size so that you can have plenty of room to grow. Also try to get a village idol up ASAP (requires Lawspeaking skill) because I know a glitch that allows me to get inside a place (even with a brick wall) without using a ram to break part of the wall down. Hell, if plenty of people are interested, I might set up a village idol at a certain location that's really nice and let you guys take care of it. It doesn't have a brick wall, though. Just a palisade.
  6. "Holy [cabbage]...it's a bear!" Haven and Hearth is an online MMORPG that lacks rules and intervention (on the most part) from the devs. You spawn in the wilderness and must survive. You can hook up with other players and form small settlements that may eventually become villages and then thriving empires. Death is tragic because you will lose your character forever (but you can easily create another one with the same account after you log in). There is unlimited PvP and no "safe zones", so there is always danger and you can never fully trust that nice stranger you may meet from time to time. The learning curve isn't too hard, and leveling is relatively easy once you get the hang of it. However, don't let the unlimited PvP scare you into not playing. Due to the nature of death, game politics have taken a more interesting form compared to other games. People form alliances and protect each other, and justice is almost always served. So if someone robs you or kills your friend, someone (like a higher level) is usually willing to kill the criminal for fun. Likewise, there is an interesting in-game market, where trades can be arranged on the forums or on IRC. Trades usually take place in Constantinople or Buyan, both of which are in-game cities (completely player built!) There are several skills to choose from, and specialization is encouraged for communities of players so that one person has a certain job, etc. There are no skill caps (which is in the form of 'item quality'), so the game never truly ends. One word of advice, though. If you see a player wearing a golden helmet and purple robe, run like hell. http://www.havenandhearth.com/ EDIT: Oh yeah, did I mention that the world was HUGE? I mean, it's really huge. It takes about 10 hours to travel from one end to the other.
  7. Be careful. I've had some friends that went to this "haunted highway" in Arkansas where there were pentagrams drawn on the road, and they ended up having a car wreck. Those poltergeists aren't very safe drivers.
  8. I think France is trying to preserve their unique way of life rather than becoming a melting pot (i.e. cesspool) in which the French culture dies. Also, it's probably due to what someone mentioned earlier. The French people like to kiss each other on the cheek as a greeting, and having a covered face probably is offensive to them because of their culture.
  9. Nearly, the point of terrorism is to use fear to achieve a goal. If the pressure has no direction, it has no effect. The goal is most likely the same as the goal of every other recent terrorist attack. Terrorism actually is a pretty effective tactic for revolutionary groups to use in order to achieve their desired means. It's especially useful for those who lack the necessary numbers in order to fight their enemies head-on. Take the Irish Republican Army for instance... Do you honestly think that (from their point of view) that it would be better to sacrifice their lives on the battlefield against the British military and then failing to achieve the means (union of all of Ireland) that they devoted their lives to? I mean, it would be rather silly to do so since they know that they would fail in a "fair" fight anyway. It's much easier to cause mayhem, bomb the [cabbage] out of people, and be a thorn in the UK government's ass.
  10. I wholeheartedly support this move because I'm a racist bigot.
  11. So, who here is a fascist?
  12. Certainly, but most of the time it is rather innocent, IMHO. It's certainly strange from an outsider's point-of-view (as in all the over-exaggerated cuteness and such), but then again most of modern Japanese culture is strange [to Westerners] anyway. I'm pretty neutral as far as the more 'hentai' aspect goes, but it's not something I would be interested in, though I don't really believe that it should be punishable. Typically child pornography is bad because you're taking advantage of children, but this is not the case with a drawing that is subjective and may only appear to depict a child when it really doesn't (as in the way it's drawn). However, one could argue that it encourages child molesters when they see the drawing and want to sexually abuse real children. In that case, it could be a major problem.
  13. I believe that communism is a perfect ideology that promotes individual freedom and equal opportunity for all. Why abolish it?
  14. The Dark Lord posted a topic in Off-Topic
I remember there being a discussion about the UK placing certain restrictions on anime and manga because there was a fear that the characters were drawn in a way that would encourage paedophilia (due to the female characters looking younger than what they were). This was an interesting topic, so I wanted to share it with you. Are similar bans justified, and should people view anime as something that encourages child pornography, or should it be viewed separately? Should people be arrested/fined for possessing 'lolicon' anime, or do you believe that legislators are distorting the anime subculture and viewing it in the wrong way? Anyway, if you're not too familiar with anime, here is a good example of what I'm talking about: I would like to hear your opinions, as I feel like this would make a stellar moral debate. Just a tip, make sure you keep this discussion mature and thoughtful, it is after all a very touchy subject. Also, as you may know, no explicit pictures, etc. -Mrshinyredplanet.
  15. Protip: Use a proxy next time...
  16. Well said! I think there are only a few people I give a rat's ass about in this forum (well, specifically this board) and that's: -Paul -Ross -Mather -Icu -Archi -Dusty The others I just don't know really well, or I just hate their guts. Seriously, most of the people in here are useless and juvenile. That was pretty evident when we played Haven and Hearth (although you were all pretty useless to me in that game, no offense). Anyway, have fun, Iconic/Hex/Edel. I would have done a more explosive exit if I were you, though.
  17. Holy [cabbage], he admitted he was Iconic on Hextriplet? I didn't know he was Hex because of that. Hell, I only read the last page and pretended to know what we were talking about. I knew he was Hex because he left some clues when he first created Edelweiss/Iconic because of the brain slug avatar and a picture that he posted on Hextriplet that showed the same brain slug. I also knew he was Hex because of his [removed], but that's just a whole different story. To be honest, I hate roccodog more than Hex, and I don't even really hate Hex anymore, if at all.
  18. Bye, Hex. :(

  21. What you have against that freestylin motha lovah? @skuly
  22. I don't care either way. I'm pretty much pre-occupied with H&H and college.
  23. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q74lCN-Gv7o Ayh [cabbage]. Dis [racist term] be awesome. Such an interesting culture.
  24. There's a better texture pack with more Haven and Hearth style graphics somewhere, but I don't know much about that kind of stuff. Ask Paul if you are wanting something better.
