Parental control's
I've never been troubled by parental controls. By the time I was 15 my dad didn't even bother to tell me to stop looking at porn. Before that he only told me not to because I was foolish and managed to get plenty of spyware/viruses on my computer.

Twilight.
Wow. So I got dragged to go see this tonight. Quite possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. In the very end I thought the movie was going to essentially start over again with the chick so I cuddled up to my gf and told her I was going to sleep and to wake me up when it was over. Thank god it ended because I just didn't want to be there any longer. Terrible.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Alright, I just need to vent quick: [hide=]To start off, I'm a very insecure and jealous guy thanks to my first gf cheating on me. I can't get over the thought that nobody is ever going to be loyal to me. Also note that I often talk to my current gf via text, phone, or online because we live nearly a half hour apart so it's not always possible to see each other. So today started out bad. I had essentially a lucid dream to the point that I controlled what I did, but didn't realize I was dreaming. In the dream my gf broke up with me and as the dream continued it led up me to laying down in my bed, feeling terrible, and closing my eyes. This transitioned into me waking up in the exact position I dreamed I was in with everything around me exactly the same all the way up to me honestly thinking my gf had broken up with me. In the dream she had done it via text but I didn't think of checking my texts until I was about to hit the emotional crutches and drown out the pain for a while. Luckily I checked my texts and the last one i had gotten from her was her saying goodnight and that she loved me. Thank god she hadn't actually broke up with me but the feeling has stuck around all day. Then she got online and she didn't have a lot to say (which is really odd) and she told me she didn't want to hang out tonight (we had plans from nearly a week ago). So I felt like [cabbage] and it just got a little worse. But I wasn't going to be an [wagon] about it so I just told her it was fine and went on. Eventually she decided she wanted to hang out with her friends and told me we were going to go ahead with the plans because she wanted to hang out with her friends. The underlined completely pissed me off. She's only going to hang out with me because she wants to hang out wit her friends and knows I'll find out that she's off with her friends? (<- My best friend is going, with or without me, and he tells me basically everything). I mean I'm glad we're hanging out but I don't want her to feel obligated to hang out with me, I'm just not like that. ------------------------------ And then there's a friend of hers that I absolutely cannot stand. He reminds me of myself in my sophomore year, although he's a freshman in college. He's incredibly immature (more so than myself, and I think I'm fairly immature) and likes to flirt with my gf in a very sexual manner. One day my gf invited me to a chat room with the both of them and I don't think he noticed I was there because he started in with saying some really sexual things. I guess she usually goes along with it and kinda makes fun of him for it but she mentioned to him it probably wasn't a good idea to be saying those kinds of things. I took the chance to chime in, insure that he knew I was there, and I didn't really hear anything out of him for the rest of the night. I haven't been in a chat room with them since, but I'm sure he continues to do it and it pisses me off. ---------------------------- Then there's another guy friend of hers. I'm pretty sure he asked her out after I was already dating her and when she said no and mentioned she was dating me he started complaining that he knew her first, as if that gives him dibs. I think he's also the guy who always mentions how he misses her, yet they go to the same school and see each other daily while I may only see her two or three times in a week. --------------------------- A few nights ago she pretended to break up with me. She didn't let it go on for more than a few minutes but it killed me a little inside and I'm sure this accounts for the dream I had. Also included with dying a little inside.. One night I told her I was getting offline to go to bed (it was 2AM, I was tired, and I didn't want to fall asleep in school) and she didn't want me to. I explained I was tired and she finally just said fine and said she was going to talk to some other guy all night (who apparently likes to show me up by staying awake until her and her sister get offline). As I said, I'm very insecure and that really hurt.. -------------------------- I guess her last bf was pretty emotionally abusive. He hated when she would try to talk about anything that was bothering her or on her mind. So she began just bottling them up and closing everyone out. Well I'm the opposite. If she has something on her mind I want to hear about it. If she has a problem, I want to help her solve it. I guess I feel like I should be there more for her since I'm older and I've been through some of the [cabbage] she's going through.[/hide] Now I feel kind of bad that I can write that much about the negatives of her/dating her. But I could probably write 10x as much positive.

I agree with what he said. I could care less if people wanted to smoke as long as innocent bystanders didn't have to get so much second hand smoke. Ok, the second hand smoke argument really bothers me. I've explained before how well filter secondhand smoke is and how very little you inhale. Now, please explain to me how bad this second smoke is for you while you and someone smoking are outside in a well ventilated area and the smoke is not being blown directly into your lungs.

Twilight.
I've got some friends who want to go see the movie tonight. My gf and I don't really want to see it so I think we're going to just bail on them and find something else to do. The movie looks boring, the books look long, and reading what those people (in whiteguy's post) said makes me not want to read the book nor watch the movie.

Major Surgeries
Ugh, I'm having that done soon. None of them have made their way out but I've got an appointment with the oral surgeon next month for a consultation..

Marijuana, why isn't it legalized?
I think the number of times you can get caught is 3 before serious charges are brought against you. And I think your friend who had to check into rehab is an idiot for moving to such a hard drug and not having any self control (there are people who do use drugs like that responsibly and I commend them for it). I'll admit, marijuana is somewhat of a gateway drug but this is why I think it is: In school we're taught how bad all drugs are (including alcohol and tobacco since they are drugs) and how we should never ever try them and risk dire consequences or something to that effect. Well many of us choose to give weed a shot since it's so widely used. What do we find out? The schools and gov't lied to us about how terrible it is. So they must be lying about the other drugs too. From there on out you don't feel like you're doing anything wrong by taking different drugs because you're rejecting the information (though usually propaganda) given to you in school. I 100% disagree with anyone who will say that marijuana makes you want to try other drugs. The first drug I tried was alcohol. Moving then from weed, to a period of time using tobacco, nitrous oxide, dexamethosone, diphenhydramine, and various other pills. I ended up taking these things because I found out marijuana wasn't this terrible drug it was made out to be in school and that's why I stand behind my theory. I wouldn't consider alcohol to be a gateway drug because I grew up with my parents going out to bars most weekends and coming home pretty tipsy so I knew it wasn't as bad as the schools made it out to be.

Marijuana, why isn't it legalized?
Cigarette companies come under fire all the time, though they force nobody to use their products. And cigarettes will never be banned. The industry is just too big to do away with it all together. It would have a devastating effect on any economy who's country was dumb enough to ban them.

You either smoke, have never known a chain smoker, or are constantly around chain smokers if you think that intrusive stale smoke smell is only a tiny irritation. And thank you, I love my ego too; I recently got it a hat. Considering the majority of people are not spending most of their time with chain smokers, I do have to agree with Shin. And I'll bring up my argument from before. If we ban cigarettes based on smell I want cars that smell bad and factories banned as well because I hate driving behind someone who's car smells like it's going to kill me or driving past a factory and wondering what they're killing inside. In the same sense, I only have to deal with these smells in short periods of time as most people have to deal with smokers who smell to the point of it being irritating. Also, what size of hat does your ego wear? I'm thinking of getting it a hat for Christmas :-k

Good o'l Texas. Death penalties, pro-guns, and drinking in public :P I can't say much, my state is just known for growing corn lol

Marijuana, why isn't it legalized?
In the sense of using it possibly. But if you wander out into public while you're drunk, the police are going to have every right to take you to jail. If you wander out into public while you're high (leave your weed and paraphinailia at home) the police can't do anything about you being high unless you tell them you're high (then you're legally intoxicated in public). They both have their downsides in terms of laws.

They only make you feel better while the effects are happening. The pain is still there afterwards. And you might become dependent on these things to get you through hard times (like me) or even to get you through just a day (like my brother who seems to have a bit of a drug problem).

Here in Iowa you legally have to be 30 feet away from the entrance of a building to smoke in public. And if the smell continues to reach people at the entrance you're required to move farther away or be fined if police become involved. I don't think this is very well enforced though because where I work there are "No smoking on campus" signs posted all around and I see people smoke on campus with police watching them and doing nothing about it. Hell, an officer was actually talking to some guy once while the guy was smoking in the no smoking area and the office didn't even ask him to put his cigarette out. I do know however that the smoking inside restaurants/bars law is very strictly enforced and there is a bar near where I live that will possibly lose it's liquor license since they never stopped anyone from smoking inside their bar.

Marijuana, why isn't it legalized?
What makes you think this? Right now many teens find it as easy (if not easier) to acquire weed than it is to acquire alcohol or cigarettes (two very legal drugs). What's sad is how true that is. If it wasn't for my ex being a cashier at a local grocery store, I would have had a hard time getting cigarettes before I turned 18 (I seem to look young). If it wasn't for my friend being good at shop lifting, I would have rarely drank over this past summer. But getting some bud is as easy as calling up my dealer, seeing if he's selling today, and making a stop by his house/agreed apon location (I've made deals in some bad places..). For most teenagers, they don't have friends who will risk their job to get them cigarettes or legal penalties to steal alcohol. But weed is so much easier to get.

Why exactly would you hold your breath if they weren't smoking? I would assume he's talking about the bad smell of some smokers, particulary heavy smokers. That stale smoke smell is very unpleasant. But if he was walking past he would probably only take one or possibly two breaths where he was able to smell the person. The first would be unavoidable and holding your breath after that is just meaningless. But I suppose I don't mind the smell of cigarettes nor the smell that sticks with smokers throughout the day.

Adding on to that, for a while you'll think she was the best you could ever do. But eventually you'll find someone else that catches your eye and your ex won't seem quite as amazing as she used to. You may even grow to dislike her for the pain she just caused you, but try to remain friends if you can and be mature about it. On top of all that, this is a stressful period of time. Find a good way to release that stress/anger. Avoid causing harm to yourself over this, I know from personal experience that it's not usually worth it.

blink-182 Guys Are Talking Again.
I would like to see them get back together but I'm afraid they'll do the same thing as what Simple Plan did. I was so excited to hear Simple Plan had a new album coming out and it was terrible. I know Blink-182 is a great band but I'm afraid they'll end up trying to make "popular" music rather than continuing with their old style in order to obtain good sales.

You would rather have a single person let billions of dollars rot in their bank account doing nothing than to spread the wealth? You understand that the less money is spent, the worse off our economy is, correct? And If they're losing huge sums of money to taxes and want to complain about it, how about they go live a normal lifestyle? They don't have to outrageously wealthy. They are lucky enough to live such lavish lives, spend more money on a car than I will probably ever be able to spend on a house, and pay cash for a house I can only dream of ever even seeing? Yeah, that's really unfair to take away their hard earned money with those multi million dollar bonuses their work gives them at the end of each year. Or let's take this another direction. Who's to say they didn't come about their money through family. They're merely heirs. Tell me all about their struggle to earn enough to feed their families and afford enough gas to get to work. [/sarcasm] I assume you've never been in the position where finding work is next to impossible or you physically can't work at all. Suppose some day you have a bad accident and any money you had put away goes to paying your medical bills. You're so severely injured that you are never able to work again. Would you like some of those tax dollars coming your way or are you happy being physically handicapped and begging for money on the streets?

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Doc, I think you need to sit back and relax. You can't force her to love you. The best you can do is show her what a great guy you are and she might come around one day. If she still likes you as more than a friend, you've got firm ground to stand on. You say you went back with her. By that do you mean you're dating again or you've just chosen her to be the one you aim for? If you've started dating she probably shouldn't be telling you there's another guy she would be dating should the conditions be right. You might want to talk to her about that (if you are dating). If she doesn't want to be anything more than good friends with him, don't let it worry you too much. I understand jealousy. I'm a very jealous person, you just have to keep it under control and only bring up situations that seem quite serious in your mind (be sure to apologize should your fears be nothing more than your mind playing with you). She said she doesn't love you yet. I would personally take that as a sign that she may be willing give you the chance to prove yourself worthy of her love. Also, "I love you" can be a frightening phrase to some people. Maybe she sees that as something to be said in a more committing relationship than you two currently have. Best of luck to you :)

That's not how it works at all. Please vacate this topic until you've had some experience or have enough common sense to know how people work. I'm going to get a petition going to have this guy banned until his 10th birthday :-k

This is why you and your parents' biased views need to stay out of political threads. You don't have a clue what you're talking about. There is absolutely no way the U.S. will ever become a communist country. We have a worse stigma attached to that than socialism and part of our reasons for going into some wars was to spread democracy and stop communism. You're an idiot for thinking the U.S. even has a slim chance of becoming communist. *Note: I do know what communism is and I think it will never work like it's intended. Please don't view me as some commy hating redneck.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Americans are scared of things like socialism and communism because they've only really seen them in play in situations like the USSR and have attached a negative stigma to them. I would like to see capitalism done away with and instead have socialism used in America. But I'm afraid it's just not going to happen any time soon for said reason.

Upcoming tattoo
Remember this, any respectable (tattoo) artist will make the piece look 100% before they begin the tattoo. What the OP has posted is a drawing by a friend. The tattoo artist will make sure it looks perfect and he/she will know what colors will work best with OP's skin tone and will probably make the "peeling" areas look like the skin is ripping away.

You'd think so, but I won't think twice. I have friends who are smokers, family members who are smokers, and I've had members of my family die from side effects of smoking. It's a shame, but if all those people lived we would have additional problems. That's just the way I see it. Yes, it sucks that those people have to die but they chose to smoke. They knew the risks and they took the chance. With their death comes space for other people to make something of themselves.
