Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States
It was bothering me for a few days as well, but then the gov't started giving Obama highly classified information and Bush is going to begin meeting with Obama to make sure the transition between the two of them is a smooth one (and Bush has publicly ordered that everyone do what they can to be sure it is). I want you to pretend all these political threads are full of anthrax and you'll die if you even open them. Your views are horribly biased and probably come directly from your parents. Until you're old enough to think for yourself, there's no need to post in these threads.

Print or Cursive?
I write everything in print besides my signature (which is actually print connected in ways that make it look like cursive). It's been so long since I've had to write in cursive that I can't anymore. Thinking about it, I can barely read it.

I agree with this completely considering how miserably our current zero-tolerance policy is failing.

Works the other way around with the Electoral College; States with very small populations are over represented. Right, but at least these people are not forgotten about. They have to campaign everywhere now. True. We would need some sort of a balance should we ever decide to change our voting system.

Back when they were deciding how they were going to elect our president they couldn't agree on the an electoral college of sorts to choose or the people to choose. So they compromised and let us vote, then left the rest up to the electoral college. I'm pretty sure if everybody knew how the electoral college works they would be all for getting rid of it. But I think it might be written into the Constitution :-k

Education - How would you modify it?
I 100% agree. I think instead of simple copy-out-of-book work, we should research a topic then write maybe an essay. That would improve our language arts skills at the same time. I agree as well. I'd far rather write an essay than do 50 problems from a book that are designed simply to pound information into my head. The essay gives me a chance to think, the problems most likely do not. That's one of my biggest issues with mathmatics particurarly. If I can do the first problem with no problem, what makes you think that the next 49 problems that are exactly the same but with different numbers are going to help me at all. That's where we start getting into the subject of "busy work." You obviously know what you're doing and have the information you need, but to pass the class you must do this meaningless homework.

Obama won by a landslide. Rigging or not, it wouldn't have made any difference. It was not a landslide, no were near it. Take a look at the 1984 election to see what a real landslide looks like. That was taking landslide to an extreme. This election was still a landslide. Saying it's not is like saying a muslim who follows his religions rules and never speaks out isn't a muslim because he's not out there on a suicide bombing like a select few from his religion.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Oh god, don't kid yourself. Everybody lies, there's no nicer way of putting it. I treat my gf like a queen but there are things she doesn't need to know. Imo it's easier for a guy to lie then to try to explain some things. It's probably the same way for girls but don't trick yourself into thinking he's 100% honest. If you really think he is, you're not as mature as you think and you're very naive. Hell, you're 15 years old. My gf just turned 16 (I'm 18) and she's fairly immature compared to the girls I'm used to dating. And I like your little list in the last paragraph. It seems to me any girl in a good relationship thinks exactly the same thing of the bf. Interesting concept :-k For God's sake, if you can't spell it don't say it. It's "pedophile" in case you're wondering.

I would like to see: -Less out-of-school group projects. I've had a decent number of these projects and I understand the idea behind them (socialization) but I think they're unfair to students with more time on their hands. I currently have very little free time so my group gets to pick up my share of the work since I don't have time to do it. That's unfair to them but if they don't do it we all lose points. I'd rather see the projects be done in school or individually. -Less homework consisting of merely copying answers from a book. For my American government class we have a section of reading and discussion questions to do every night. I don't mind it one bit because we can't completely copy the answers from the book since our questions often ask for opinions and such. -More teachers who actually care about their jobs. Most of my teachers will go over the material in a normal/boring manner, give us homework, and leave it at that. But, in one class I have a student teacher and he's made the class amazing so far. He's always enthusiastic about the days topic, encourages us to throw out our opinions whenever we feel like it, and just makes the class fun (again, it's my government class which would normally be incredibly boring).

It's good to respect their opinions too, though their views may be slightly different than ours.

Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States
In a sense, I want to applaud Bush for what he did. I have high expectations from Obama and without a [cabbage]hole of a country, I couldn't really hold him to those standards. It will be an interesting 4 years, that's for sure. You need to avoid political threads at all costs until you actually do your research or possibly stop restating exactly what your parents say (if that's the case your parents need to be taken out back and shot many times over). As I said in another thread, "the uneducated are a nuisance." You are both uneducated and a nuisance and are therefore proving me right.

Please answer the following questions: 1. Age? 2. What grade are you in? 3. Do your parents agree with what you said? 4. Did you hear what you said from your parents? 5. Did your parents bother going to school or did they just drop out and take minimum wage jobs that require minimum brain usage? As far as getting more votes, he did a great job picking a running mate. As far as someone you'd want in the white house, terrible choice.

There are deeper issues than just not having a job. Working 40 hrs/week at minimum wage ($7.25) you would make $1160 before taxes, social security, etc. Not too bad if you're living alone or with one other person. But my mother's medications alone cost over $1000/month not to mention 4 of us need to eat, we need a vehicle to get anywhere (we live in a semi-suburban area), and countless other expenses. Even without taxes, my family could not live off of my father working a minimum wage job. Hell, we couldn't make it if I got a job and worked the hours I could along with him. But right now the gov't is helping us out while my dad tries to find a job that we can actually live off of. Food stamps keep our stomaches full and gov't insurance makes sure my mom can get the help she needs without worrying about money in that aspect. What I'm trying to say is that it's not just a matter of finding a job. It's not worth it to give up gov't insurance and food stamps to work a job that won't bring in enough money for us to survive.

It's not the people having sex you need to worry about, it's the parents of the minor. If they don't like the guy and they find out that he's had sex with their daughter, he's done for.

I also think McCain's level of respect, integrity and honor went through the roof with that speech, shame on the childish supporters that started booing at him when he stated his support for the next president of the United States, he had every right to say "stop booing". I couldn't find any note of sarcasm or bitterness in his speech, he genuinely accepted the result and commended Obama for it. No matter what his policies or opinions, that shows he's a true man. How could forget to mention the booing? McCain gives one of the best speeches I've heard and all his supporters do is boo when Obama's name comes up. That was a shame in my opinion. They could have showed some respect considering McCain was congratulating Obama on his victory and being being a man about it. I think I may have even seen a few tears from McCain and that gave him a much more "human" appearance than I've seen from him before.

Obama's Grandmother Died.
You don't really have any idea of how your own democratic system works, do you? The popular vote means nothing. Even if it did, Obama won it by a good 5% (which sounds small, but is actually massive in a two-party election), so it's not like he needed more while the national polls were putting him 7%, 8%, and even some double figures ahead. This isn't particularly aimed at evil_mumm_ra but it's funny how republicans are talking about the popular vote now. They seem to be forgetting that when Bush had 500,000 less votes than Gore in 2000 it wasn't a problem for them. The electoral college voted Bush in after Gore had won the general election. That was the 4th time it happened in US history. You never know for sure how it's going to turn out, but I'd say having over twice as many democrats representing in the electoral college this year, I don't see McCain getting so lucky. @Evil_mumm_ra: How can you not care who is elected? The things they choose to do with the country are going to effect you. I feel it's a shame to see people do this. Exercise your rights, man.

Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States
I've been thinking about the election most of today and here's a bit of what's been on my mind (as an Obama supporter): I hope you all tuned in to hear his concession speech after he realized Obama had won the general election. By God I have to say that was a great speech and by far the best concession speech I've had the honor of hearing. Unlike many concession speeches before his, he didn't promise to run again and get into office. Instead he spoke nothing but good about his opponent and said he would do what he could to help Obama through these hard times. After hearing him speak, I began thinking about why I hated him so much. And I came to the conclusion that it was because of his supporters acted/spoke about things (though I'm sure it was the same on the opposing end) and that I didn't agree with his policies. I felt neither of which were good reasons to hate a person so instead I offer him my apologies (although I know he'll never hear them). He's a great man and I applaud him for his efforts.

In the US, the age difference makes him doing anything sexual with you illegal until you turn 18 (because he's so much older). You don't need to worry about doing "it" for quite some time.

What I wouldn't do to smack the [cabbage] out of you for being such an idiot. We're NOT a socialist country nor will we become one. There's no way Obama is going to be able to turn us into a socialist country and you're a complete idiot for even thinking so. I could keep calling you an idiot but you're going to continue thinking you're right and only having biased information on this SINGLE subject. Wow. I hope you're: 1. Joking 2.Uneducated 3. A younger TIF'er still agreeing with parents' biased views I watched the news for a few hours (and made my totally uninterested gf watch it with me) and was delighted to watch as the polls closed up and the counts came in. I had a feeling Obama was going it win it and I'm proud to have have voted for him. I doubt the electoral college is going to vote McCain in seeing as how many Democratic representatives there will be in comparison to Republican representatives. I'm expecting good things out of Obama and I hope he's ready to take on this train wreck of a country.

Obama's Grandmother Died.
I think you're just a complete idiot after reading this post. Right now my family is considered poor. My father has had no luck getting a job up to this point and my mother's business is barely bringing in anything due to the nature of the products combined with the state of the economy. We depend on said "help". Without it, we would be out on the street (quite literally). I've noticed a lot of my friends who joined the military became adapted a superior point of view on everything and you're showing this right now. You think that just because your job is secure that everyone elses' jobs must be as well, or that a job is just oh so easy to find. To be honest, I feel sorry for people who join the military. You're in for a hard life if you continue with your current views.

A Football
Don't degrade yourself to breaking the law in order to get your ball back. You'll end up being the one in trouble. Ask him politely one or two more times, and threaten to contact the authorities if he's not willing to give you your ball back. If he really won't give it back, then call the police. It may seem out of line or like a waste of resources, but some people need to be put in their place.
