"Legal Highs" and the anti-drugs legislation

Don't believe the hype...little druggies have been peddling this crap for a long time...."it's just weed, it doesn't hurt you"...."legalize weed and drug related crime will stop".."it's cool"...etc etc....garbage, get out of the bubble you live in and get out into the street and learn about the real world.

The pot heads think it doesn't hurt them...really? go back 5 years later and talk to Mr "cool" again...it's like talking to a zombie. I have and it is an enlightening experience.

Druggies have a hard time holding down a job for very long....they live from high to high, and unfortunately it is a endless journey because the body never gets the same sensation from the same amount of drugs...it takes more and more as it gets used to it, then eventually mary jane isn't doing the trick, and you crossover to "real" drugs.....ahh now the high is good...uhoh, need more, and higher concentrations...Meth, Crack, Cocaine, heroin.... oh the joy continues until they find you dead. Good riddance, and we wouldnt care if along the way you didn't lose your job, and start doing petty crime to get some quick cash. Then a little something "harder" until you end up strongarm robbing folks. There's a cute little video running rampant on the news right now in america, it is of a man knocking a 101 yo lady unconscious for $33 and they caught it on video. I guarantee you he is unemployed and needed a quick fix.

We had 57 murders in Jax Fl within a short time last year, all but 5 were drug related....two were innocent children INSIDE their homes. One was two drug dealers starting shooting at each other in the parking lot, and the bullets went through the wall and killed the little 10 yo girl...on another occasion a drug deal gone bad erupted in gunfire, a single bullet went through a wall and killed a 12 yo girl who was studying her homework...... that could be you...or you sister....think about it.

Legalizing it would not make the world a better place or reduce crime, it would only affect how many drug arrests are done on a daily basis. Drug related CRIME would still exist.

As a Criminal Justice major and a police officer in Florida, I have seen it first hand. I have arrested a 7 month old pregnant woman on her 17th felony arrest, who was high as a kite on Meth, who was laughably trying to rob a store for money to keep her high going. I have gotten 35 felony counts on a 32 yo man who lost his job due to drug use and job performance, he sold his house by the beach, and put his wife and 2 children in a hotel, and went on a $200 a day drug binge for 4 months. UNfortunately for him, he was driving without his headlights on at night, on his way to his dealers house when i pulled him over.

Drugs = loser

drugs = crime

crime = victims

that victim could be your mom or your sister, who someone snuffs trying to get $20 for a quick fix...drugs have no place in our society. You can pollute your little minds with the fantasy that drugs don't hurt people all you want...I know otherwise.

The day drugs are legalised is the same day the world ends. I'm thinking along the lines of teenagers here, they already think it's cool to smoke. Just imagine what would happen if a cigarette was replaced with a sniff of cocaine. The NHS would be fall to pieces as there would be so many overdoses, just like alcohol how many children at the age of around 15/16 go get drunk at the weekend, alot is all I can say. With drugs it could turn out fatal.

You are obviously very very naive.

Haha, oh the irony.

It's an expression, I don't genuinely believe the world will fall apart if drugs were ever legalised. I was just illustrating my belief of the improbability of what he said ever happening. Aren't you a mod? I thought you weren't meant to spam.

...Then accuse another of being naive.

When it is, in fact, you that is naive because there are already legal recreational drugs. Alcohol. Tobacco. In other countries, like the Netherlands, drugs like Cannabis are legal - yet their society is hardly crumbling.

And in fact according to a recent survey the Dutch are the happiest people in Europe

Please be aware that we are talking about cocaine, heroine, hard drugs not soft. These are the types that would really make a difference.

I see, so the fact that 26% of male deaths and 9% of female deaths can be attributed to smoking (according to the WHO) is insignificant? The prevention of that wouldn't make a difference?

fractalsignature2lq4.jpg

You're saying that smoking is worse than cocaine?

If you read my post you'll notice I said nothing of the sort, nor did I imply it - stop twisting my words.

fractalsignature2lq4.jpg

I don't think he's explicitly saying that but smoking represents a significantly high amount of deaths and people should bear that in mind when saying things like weed is damaging.

The government wouldn't be able to tax marijuana, it's too easy to cultivate. Meaning no one will buy it, when they can grow it in their back yard.
Its extremely hard to grow weed if you dont know what you are doing. You can grow tobacco much easier but do people do it? no.

In places like Amsterdam it is $60 for 60 grams, an eight of weed in the US is roughly $25, and an eight is 3.5 grams.

The world would be a whole lot better if little green men in UFO's came down to earth to abduct rednecks.

1. In this day and age, anyone can find out how to grow weed, not necessarily good weed, but they can do it.

Not only that, people have been so successful in cultivating pot, that it has outsold corn and wheat in the US. (Source

2.Im moving to amsterdam, jk. $25 for an eighth of weed ( probably mids) isn't to bad considering its ILLEGAL and a black market item.

Those people are the dealers, not the consumers. They have huge fields of it like in the middle of a forest in like Oregon. Most consumers are teenagers who have absolutely no knowledge of plant growing, I can guarantee you most teens have tried growing it and it didnt work

Most weed is grown indoors with artificial sun up here. Using artificial sun light make the weed better. I believe weed does not have a good chance of living outside if it's not at a stand still temperature (correct me if I'm wrong).

Thats how it is up here in Massachusetts, I don't know about other places though.

Massachusetts is also very cold and rainy

You can say the same about alcoholics and people with gambling problems.

You can say the same about anyone who has an addiction that can only be sustained with money they no longer have.

I'm all up for the full legalisation of drugs as long as everyone knows the full reprocussions (sp?) of taking drugs and that drug eductation is given at an early age. I guess that if drugs were made legal, a lot of people would try smoking cannabis and then never touch it again. Most people's attitudes to hard drugs wouldn't change that much. People know that they will almost guarenteedly (I don't even think thats a word) ruin your life and they would stay well clear of them.

Education is important so that kids don't get hold of drugs and get seriously messed up. That said, I know a few people who have taken hard drugs once and not bothered taking it again. They were chavs but they knew the risks - all they wanted was to experience it once and not again - taking it again might drag them down a road they didn't want to go down.

So yeah, I want drugs to be made legal for the reasons in the opening post but I also think that education on the effects of drugs should be better and that minors should never be exposed to drugs. Once you are an adult, it's your body and your choice, as a teenager drugs have much more potential to mess with your head.

people should have to sign a discalimer at the "drug shop" saying that they understood the risks. I think people should do that for [bleep]s too, in a way.

Alot of people will say this is stupid, but it's actually an idea I agree with. You only live once, and certain things are worth experiencing.

That "selective presentation" as you call it is FACTUAL.....no, you can not say the same about other addicts.....the study of criminal statistics show that over 80% of all violent crime in the US is drug related ....does that number sink into your brain? over 80%...you don't see gamblers going on violent killing sprees in Las Vegas, the gambling capital of the world....you don't see winos beating 101 yo ladies for $33 so they can get another bottle of red....you dont see a beer gutted fat guy shooting someone over a beer sale gone bad....*backhands* wake up and smell the coffee princess....drug addiction will make you do ANYTHING, they will steal their sick grandma's last $10 for a rock.....I have seen it time and again, I have arrested many, I have walked the halls of a crackhouse, I have stared into the uncomprehending eyes of stupid people who live for one thing...their next high, and they don't care how they get it, or who they hurt to get it...and it all starts with that first "innocent" experimentation with drugs. My first arrest was a 19 yo black woman who tried to sell her 18 month old baby girl for $50 so she could get high...you don't see gamblers and drunks doing that..ONLY stupid druggies.

Does that mean all who try it become zombie murderers? of course not, but look at the statistics, you can't argue with facts.

Thats an unfair comparison and Ill try to explain why. The illegal narcotics trade is a multi-billion dollar industry that is effectively monopolised by organised crime groups, since the industry is such a huge earner for criminals there is going to be side effects such as gang violence & robbery. Now if this trade was made legal (I'm not advocating that it should be but I'm playing Devils Advocate here) it would be under strict legislation that would essentially take the money away from the criminals much in the same way as when prohibition being repealed took the alcohol trade away from criminals.

The gangs who are killing each other over the drugs trade do so because of the money thats involved, the fact that the money comes from drugs is incidental - they used to kill each other over booze during prohibition.

Gambling on the other hand is legal in certain areas of USA and is under strict legislation. This means large corporations can control the industry which keeps the money away from criminals and it creates a safe and controlled enviroment for gamblers. Gambling, in states where it is banned is controlled by criminals.

What I'm saying is that any industry that has a sufficient demand & is made illegal will inevitably be controlled by organised crime. Basically all they're doing is filling a demand however, it does have its consequenses.

Legalizing it will not fix the problem. Do you think the multi billion dollar illegal drug trade "industry" will just pack up their bags and go home....relax in retirement? Nope, the drug trade will still flow, the only thing would change is the price would drop, they would undercut the "government taxed drug"...and the broke druggies would flock to the lowest supplier...crime would continue...nothing would change. Along with that, the druggies would still perpetrate crime as they still can not hold a job, and must do what they got to do to fill an ever rising need.

Columbian drug lords (country whose main export is drugs) would not stop producing, and there is no way the US government would enter into trade agreement with them as a supplier of the "legalized taxed drug" trade as they are murderous thugs who have terrorized families in columbia for generations.

Sounds like a great idea to the potheads to legalize it, and in fact they have gotten somewhat of a victory in California by having "pot stores" for "medical purposes"...where the latest gimmick is you pay a doctor $50-$150 for a prescription for your "headaches" and off you go to the store to purchase your legal pot......got to love that crap....but then again, that is california where most of the population is made up of secular progressives who are bound and determined to take the country down with them. Be interesting to see how far that goes.

Reminds me of a Bill Hicks bit.

Not only do I think pot should be legalized; I think it should be mandatory. (mocks driver honking horn in traffic) "Shut up and smoke that, its the law." "I'm sorry officer, I was actually taking life seriously for a second. Who's hungry"

A good idea in my opinion to sort out the drug problem is to have it regulated. What I mean is that you make drugs legal but every individual who signs up to the database can only get a specified amount of a pharmecutical grade drug. Supposedly, this would cut down the illegal drug trade immensely (by making prices at these pharmacies cheaper than street price) as long as you add in tougher scentences for drug dealers and anyone dealing to under 18's. This would make the risk factor for illegal trade significantly higher and therefore raise prices in the illegal trade.

No. Here is one point I disagree with.

You see, you said that many people will go to great lengths to get these drugs. While this is true, it still stops many from actually doing it. If it were legalized and easy to get, many people would not have to worry about the penalties and the hassles that go into buying them. Thus, causing MORE addicts. This decreases the health of the nation (I doubt you would argue that drugs are not harmful).

So the question is would you rather give some of the economic gain (to the black market) and save numerous live, or would you rather have these in the economy and endanger many lives?

Yes, some drugs are harmful but, some really aren't that harmful. Here is a huge debate on marijuana that I started a while back, it gives pro's and con's on website sources. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=606283

This isn't a MJ specific thread. I am talking about in general.
