Formula for EXP needed

I found this topic on the RS fourms. No one there seems to understand it but I thought you people here might appriciate it. Lord knows how long it took him to get these numbers...

To reach level L requires a certain amount of experience X(L). An approximation for X(L) not having a error of more than 200 is

X(L) = (720.7520157)*(1.10408694388)^L - (801.4569046)*(0.991437844023)^L.

Oh well, not very useful I know. I was hoping that I would come up with an exact formula of this kind. Oh well.

I think its fairly accurate, and I can explain if nessasary (except where he got the numbers).

Note: This is written in y=mx+b (slope intercept form), one way of writting an eqation for a line.

Meh, pretty easy to find the formula if you use the preset regression algorithms on a Ti-83 calculator

My first thought exactly as soon as I saw that equation.

i got a c in geometry, so you lost me. #-o

This isn't geometry :mrgreen: (well kind of isn't.)

Here's the quadratic regression equation (it fits better than linear) of the experience for RS levels. If I can find a better line/curve to fit the statistics I'll post it here.

y=ax^2+bx+c

a=2191.198458

b=-151740.1499

c=1715561.651

It's algebra, and it's incorrect.

The correct formula is, for level L:

experience is floor[ sum of i from 1 to L-1 of floor (i + 300 * 2 ^ (i/7)) divided by 4 ]

Or, in mathematical terms,

That is actually not a Slope Intercept formula. A Slope Formula lakcs exponents, by saying L is an exponent you're voiding it. What you've posted is a Quadratic Formula. It is not a straight formula, it is a hyperpoles.
