CPU, GPU, mobo are good but as for the hard drive i would go for 2 160GB's and a nice 76GB 10,000RPM SCSI for fast boot and commonly used files :D woo woo.. as for mouse i would go for a G5 a bit more expensive but nice and for a screen make sure you get one with a fast response time and high refresh rate (12ms response time and 80HZ refresh at least) Hope this helps if u have any other questions pm me..

160GB drives cost more per GB than 320GB drives.

Plus getting a 10k RPM SCSI drive would add a huge amount to the price, costing double what a single 320GB SATA2 drive costs.

The 640MB Gainward 8800GTS Bliss is ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã257.31. Its a lot of money tho and i'm not sure if its worth it or to get the 320MB Gainward for ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã189.03 (̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã68.28 saving).

My new PC wont look as cool as my current one on the outside but its gonna be a beast on the inside. Watercooling does look pretty sweet but air cooling and heatsinks are a lot more efficient these days and a lot less hassle. when i spend 99.9999% of my time looking at the monitor rather than the actual computer I think id rather save money on making it look good and instead spend more money on making it actually good inside.

Since you're getting an 8800GTS you're probably wanting to play some games and games these days are using larger and larger textures, so that extra video memory will be most useful.

Personally I would drop the X2 and go with a Core 2 Duo as you will get better performance for less money if you OC it.

I would be weary of the LiteOn DVD is they have a bad rep for being noising and bad performers.

Same with the HDD I would go with anyone apart from Seagate or Western Digital as they are generally better performers and have better customer care.

Everything else looks great.

Good luck.

Ps you may want to wait for Intel price drops in April and the new 8xxx cards.

I don't plan on Overclocking so the AMD will be better than the Intel chip.

The DVD drive is only a minor thing and I think im gonna do for an IDE one now instead of using up a SATA header.

The HDD has been reccomended to me by a trusted member of this forum too.

As for waiting... as you may have seen by my two current posts of PC problems that's not really an option. lol

I've got one and it's absolutely fine. No abnormal noises and it performs perfectly.

everything looks good to me, although I would go with a core 2 duo, even if you dont overclock it the performance is a little better. i personally prefer intel as well, they seem to be more reliable.

Performance depends on the CPU.

5200 will own the lower end Core 2 Duo's.

Seem to be more reliable, not really AMD and Intel have always been on a par in terms of reliability.

More reliable in what way? How have you experienced AMD being unreliable?

I'm not arguing either way, I'm just looking for substantiation.

My brother Had 2 computers that had AMD processors, one a desktop and one a laptop, and both of them failed after about a year and a half when it was determined that the processor failed, when the computer running a P4 right next to the desktop (another desktop) and bought at the same time still runs fine to this day. This might be an isolated case, but after the stories my brother has told me and articles that say the core 2 duo's are faster on the higher end then anything AMD has.

Interesting since my CPU (3500+) is the only part of my system that i had had to replace / fix. And I know plenty of people who their Intel chips have thrown in the towel fairly quick because the stock heat sink was a piece of crap and died pretty quick. Although I believe that was only across one model.

I personally like intel but My guess would be that a product with no moving parts standard, reliability would be somewhat similar. I personally like intel, but I suppose AMD would work fine. I remember seeing performance tests comparing Intel with AMD with Intel winning. On the highest end the kentsfield processors are defanintely faster, but my personal prefrence would be intel.

A heat sink cant fail, their solid chunks of metal. yes, on some earlier pentium 4's, the fans were bad though.

I assumed that Rick meant the processor failed because the heatsink was pants.
