I was wondering how long it takes to get Mining and Smithing to level 50? I want to make mithril stuff.

Welcome to the boards! Questions belong in the Help and Advice board, so I'll just move this over there for you - please bare this in mind in the future.

Oops, didn't see that board. My bad.

Mining is relatively fast if you power mine iron.

That means you mine and then drop the ore and repeat.

The SE & SW Varrock mines are popular.

Also, try the Al-Kharid scorpion mine.

Look here for mining spots.

Smithing is a lot harder to raise.

If you do the Knight's Sword quest then you can jump right to level 29 or so.

After that, you earn exp by smelting and/or smithing.

You can smelt silver, gold, iron, steel, etc.

You can smith iron, steel, etc.

Steel needs 2 coal for every 1 iron ore.

As a result, smithing is a lot slower to raise.

Look here for Tip It's guide.

Hope this helps

it's only difficult until lvl 30 or so (for both) after that all you need is 2k coal to mine and 1k iron. and then you smelt the bars and sell them and then restock on ore. once you get smithing mining is really easy to get up :S.

this way you also make a bit of money remember steel bars are sold for 600+ ea.

Trust me, smithing NEVER is easy to level up as f2p. It's slow but well worth it.

proftorcolgy here,

As a miner and smith in my own mind, let me tell you: The first levels you want to mine everything yourself, I recomend steel as soon as you can. You will probably level up once maybe twice per 100 bars or so. But that runs out fast, so relish it. For the lower levels, up to about 50 you may want to join one of those smelting companies, or do what the above person said about selling bars.

Smithing will be the slow difficult one, mining is cake.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, give a man the internet and you will never see him again.

First of all, mithril is 55 mining/55 smithing.

In addition, it would be best if you did the quest, as said before. The fastest way to the lvl would be to powermine iron. At around lvl 41, you can get a rune pick, and iron is very easy to mine. You can bank/drop. The best place to powermine would be alkarid, because there are three rocks very close to each other. If your banking, use the Varrok East bank, because that is closest to the bank.

This is for F2P only.

Hope this helped :XD:

I would say mine iron to get mining up and bank or drop eather

But if you get rune pick and about 40 mining you should be able to one hit iron

But if you bank just take it to Al Kahrid and smelt into bars then go to varrock and make items

Not according to the smithing guide

Smithing steel gives great XP though

OF course that mother is badly crazy,

but I dont understand why the 22 year old girl wants to live with and have sex with the 13 year boy, just because he is lvl 126 or something?

I think steel is a f2p best bet. power mine/mine iron and coal for mining level, and smith steel and make steel umm stuff for smithing level

Rofl. My chair has a fridge, a cooler, a toilet, a shower, and a barbecue bulit in.

Hey, I may have quite Runescape, but I just bought an XBOX 360 and play way to much COD4 with the Gamertag Lava Mage

Steel -- 13,169 Smelt and Smith for lvl 70

Bronze -- 38,731 Smelt and smith

Lets assume you are lvl 30 because you did some smithing and knights sword quest. So now the question is, what is the easiest way to get smithing up? I would say bronze...

26,338 Coal and 13,169 Iron

or

38,731 Tin and 38,731 Copper

Which would be faster?

Copper and Tin is really fast to mine, plus there isn't much competition for it! Until you get into the mining guild coal is going to be an issue. Also, lots of competition for Iron south of varrock...

So personally, I say go for bronze!

You can do it, just use Tip.its Quest guide and you should be fine. If you need someone to help you fend off the warriors, just pm me ingame, I'd be glad to help. :)
