Ranging Mini - Game Guide - More Pictures Added!

Featured Replies

Hey, I'm Tomato72, and this is my guide to the Ranging Guild's Mini - Game.

Most people know that it is rewarding in money, but few use it for experience. The Xp from it is very high, and I think it is the cheapest and best way to a high range level. It requires no combat, just shooting at a target continuously. I get about 43k Xp per hour at 72 Range. Also, the mini game gives no HP Experience.

Basic Rules

You pay 200gp for 10 bronze arrows. You must equip these and fire all the arrows at the target, until you are finished. You get points for hitting different parts of the target:

Black- 10

Blue- 20

Red- 30

Yellow- 50

Bulls-eye- 100

Also, you get 50% of your score added onto your range Xp :

Black- 5

Blue- 10

Red- 15

Yellow- 25

Bulls-eye- 50

Your score is divided by 10, and that is the amount of tokens you recieve.

There is a shop where you can cash in rewards. Here are prices of items and a picture:

Studded Body- 150 Tickets

50 Rune Arrows- 2,000 Tickets - Reccomended buy ( Sell at 20k+)

Coif- 100 Tickets

Green Dragonhide Body- 2,400 Tickets

20 Adamant Javelin- 2,000 Tickets

The Rewards

The mini - game is very rewarding. I earn about 19k, with getting up to 2000 tickets and buying rune arrows. Also, the experience is extremely fast, you can fire the arrows at a very fast method, stated later on. Roughly, I've found that the number of tickets you recieve (with a good armour + bow range bonus) is your level. I'm 72 and I average out around 72ish.

What to do for Speed Training

To save time, do the following things:

Wield 1k Bronze arrows to start, so that you don't have to wield the ones he gives you

Have a high armour bonus for ranging

Ranger Set is Best , but Archer helm and Snakeskin or Frog - Leather boots are strong.

  • Archer ring gives a +4 Boost

Any magic bow, or yew at 40 - 49

Karil's or Dragonhide Top + Bottoms

Barrows gloves, then the best dragonhide at your level (Or Dragon + Rune gloves)

Fury or Glory in the amulet slot

Fire cape for the attack bonuses

Once out of arrows, click the target again, instead of talking to him. He gives you the tickets automatically this way.

Look at this Picture:

I right click the target just before the arrow hits, so that when the arrow does hit I can fire without closing the window. Try it!

Hope you enjoyed my guide, please post any extras and thoughts below!

Thanks to everyone who posted below, I've added your points.

Maybe you should add some pictures. And the picture isn't very good. Make it full size, so people can see it without clicking it. Not much info to put down, but no one else made one.

I tried that a while ago, I was actually surprised at the exp.

I never stayed long enough to see how much exp I could get in an hour. Maybe I'll go see what I can get with 96 range there.

and you can make a good sum of cash if you are good if you buy rune arrows. i think if you put your range style on longrange it might help im not sure

thats how 90% of all 1 def pure without money get there exp :)

Just a little side note: It gives no hitpoints xp.

nice guide, i always had trouble training range before. il try this out soon.

barrowsmjester,doogy5150.gif

only problem is you dont get hp XP... :-k

i like having high hitpoints so i dont use pest control, cannons, or this i guess...

but still interesting, i never even knew you got XP from that minigame. ::'

but 43k an hour being good XP for range is kinda depressing. -.-

nudist hippy vegan elves who inexplicably wear leather.

awesome guide. as soon as i read this i went out and tried it. ive been doing this for the past 3 days \'

ive leveled from 64-67 range so far(going to get 70). ive also received over 30k tickets, which is ~800 rune arrows. i made over 300k selling the rune arrows from the tickets, which is awesome. good exp and money!

silvercrap.png

Amazing. I always thought it was a crappy minigame, but it seems pretty good.

Nice guide. :)
