xevanx
MY question is what if there was a sort of Monarchy/Government in RS. I am talking, like what might happen if: -Asgarnia was a Communist Country(impossible bein as communism is only 200ish years old) -Miscellenia is a Capitalist Country(which it is w/ "build your kingdom") -Kandarin is an autocracy -Misthaltin is a Democracy ----- at the end of every month you had to vote for a leader, etc. and you have to have a job and pay taxes or something. The thing I am coming to is, if RS had a government would you still play, would you vote, quit etc? The main answer i am looking for is if, RS was ruled by something and you HAD to do something would you do it? like cut 500 yews this month or you will lose wc'ing privelages. jemathonical
Yeh I'd do it. It would be like a blog, I have to cut 500 yews this month. Good motivation. It would make it more interesting too if I had to vote on a leader ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it!
KCHughes
If I refused to do what the government told me to, could I become an outlaw? I wan to be an outlaw! But this seems like a pretty cool idea. I would do it...just to become an outlaw. the russians are the best! Hands down! xevanx
keep in mind that government owns prisons/jails. what if there was a bounty on your head? also, lets say if you farm, 10% of your crops is given to gv't because they own the land. Giordano
Most kingdoms are Monarchies actually. Just that our character doesn't give a [cabbage] and does what ever he/she wants. :P "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." Karmastocracy
And if you were an outlaw guards auto attack you? Or maybe prices in shops go up depending on how infamous you are? That is acually a pretty neat idea! :) Guide to Everything Fletching XBL: Karmastocracy[stumbleupon]* Sits on a mossy rock with a notebook in hand, observing the behavior of the specimens dubbed "Fanboys"~"Even when the odds are against you, even when the chance of victory is bleak and your situation looks hopeless, take a look at the horizon, and think back to what you have learned. KCHughes
It WOULD be pretty sweet to be wanted...my bounty could go up with each player I kill. :-w the russians are the best! Hands down!
sparticus348
Interesting Idea - it would totally change the way the game is played... For example - what do we do if a leader suddenly goes bad? What powers does a leader have? Break
Giordano
- what do we do if a leader suddenly goes bad? We make the Catherby P-Pot Party! Nubs won't know what hit 'em. unkn0wnwarrior
I think Jem said it best: Yeh I'd do it. It would be like a blog, I have to cut 500 yews this month. Good motivation. n64jive
Runescape would not work in anything but a capitalist government...If jagex was to implement this...it would only work in a new game...which i heard they are developing. Also, Runescape has kings, their for the correct government would be feudalism
flyboymike22
I think that this would be an awesome idea. For example: as to not upset and to help the newer players, lumbridge would be controled by jagex, but would have everything that newer players needed, but the downside would be that they could not leave the kingdom (or duchy, if you want to be literal) without pledging allegience to a king, which comes with advantages and disadvantages. some of the advantages would be like you would be able to use the resources of that kingdom without threat from guards, but the dissadvantage would be that all kingdoms lack some resources, opening trade between kingdoms, or if you did not want to trade, you could make your way into hostile territory and "steal" it for free, but having to watch out for NPC's of that kingdom who could range from guards who would auto attack to tax collectors who would take a portion of what you took. Im sure that this could be expanded alot, just what I thought of in a few minutes
Bubsa
This is exactly why RS really needs better guild features. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
xevanx
thanks for all the posts. but at this point in time, Runescape has kings/queens(monarchy), and religions. What if they made it that these things had power over you. I like how this turned into a very interesting discussion :)
Solidus_77
You can get my taxes over my dead body It would be cool to vote a leader however. 76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007 Finally the secrets of goal achieving are revealed! xevanx
100+ views. thank you to all who posted/read ---- by voting, would you like to see an NPC or a PC being voted upon.
Randox
That would be neat (for the players who can understand government), but i'd just as well not pay taxes, and I don't want to have to run every where because im being chased by the tax man. *pictures charecter running by followed by a large number of white knights, gaurds, and people resembling niles (the tax man)*
