Metallica recording album right now...

Featured Replies

It seems that Metallica started recording an album and started recording in March 12 2007. However it will be released in Mid or Late 2007, or Early 2008. It has no title right now neither any songs are in the album.

Thoughts?

I think it would suck. Their '80s album were awesome and their '90s one were alright but now their albums suck.

Whether or not it'll be any good, I'm unsure. I will be looking forward to it however. I loved Load and ReLoad, and can even get into some tracks on St. Anger.

La lune ne garde aucune rancune.

Just like many other fans I hate recent Metallica albums so this one will probably be crap also. Oldies are real gold. I will never stop listening One...

I honestly dont think they will or can bring back the Metallica from the 80's. They are most likely going to bring a sound that will match very well with MTV's standards. I could be wrong, who knows. We will see.

Good day sir, how may I help you?

Id like to access my bank account please.

Certainly sir.

St. Anger is the worst album ever. I'd say Kill 'em All is the best one since it has all the good songs.

thank god...i've been waiting for them to come out with a new album since the last one.

I like everything up to and including the Black Album. I heard somewhere that this album was going to be a return to the Thrashy sound of the 80's but I'm afraid I don't have a source. If its true then it might be good.

Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!

Metallica died after the Black album. Everything before that was great, the other albums were...meh. One or two good songs per album, but altogether not that great. Although the addition of Rob Trujillo was good, he's a very talented bass player. Their best album was Ride the Lightning, in my opinion. Going back to playing like that (like an actual thrash metal band) would be simply awesome.

I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.

I'd say Kill 'em All is the best since it was hardcorely loud and heavy and after the Black Album, they all sucked. This one would totally suck.

Can't really say which one out of their first albums is the best, they all are masterpieces and the ranking of them depends about my current day.

I don't have too big hopes for this album. Yea Trujillo is a great bassist, but so was Jason. The best thing they could do was a Carage Inc vol 2 or at least include some cover songs to their newest album. They got the talent to play their instruments in a way which only really few can, but they haven't been able to make any good albums for over 10 years. A good song or 2 per album don't really help when the rest are total junk.

I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.

But Burton is the best. He's a better bassist than Trujilo and Newsted.

Metallica used to be my favourite band but I only listened to their old stuff and got bored of them....hopefully their new album will turn them into my favourite band again. :)

Amen to that, except he has been dead for over 10 years now :P

I doubt it will be very good. I'm going to see them on Rock Werchter 1ste of July here in Belgium, maybe they'll give us a little sneak preview.

99 Slayer since August 2007.

They have already played some new and unnamed songs live, one was for sure played like a year ago in Berlin. Heard a bad qualify version of it and at least it didn't impress me.

Only thing you can really do is expect the worst, hope for the best :?

It's going to be bad.

Metallica's more of a name than a real band, they change members so much. :?

Too much? Heck Iron Maiden has changed more. Just because they're bass player has been changed twice (and ok, Mustaine fired after first album) it doesn't mean they'd change a lot. 2 chances and one of them being because of the death of that dude isn't much when you look how long they've been around.

Well I won't surely get my hopes up. St. Anger introduced a whole new sucky version of Metallica. I just hope this album will be a pleasent surprise to all of us and especially the fans of Metallica.

interesting, I've never been much of a metallica fan. Most of there stuff was just a little too basic and boring for me. But thats also coming from me, the person who seems to dislike most popular oldies bands (Led Zepplin, The Beetles, etc).
