Tim
i like my stats atm (besides mining and smithing  ) and my total isnt to bad either, though id admit for a lv 90 i am quite poor. 1m? but still i dont let the dosh get the better of me. so what do i do? i do skills to take my mind of it. ie: thiefing and agility. bloodkilla87
Whats worse is when someone else puts you down because you have a 'low' level. This happens to me all the time. Im level 90 and i like to have str and attack nearly the same, and defense only a couple levels below them. I'll be training and somebody will say: Guy: Str level? Me: 75 Guy: Wow thats really low for your level Me: :-s But ya i agree with your point. Whenever im cooking with someone whos like level 30 and i say my cooking is 87, theres is always around 40 or so. And they say, oh well mine is really low. Really low in comparison to what? Viv
most people want to either impress the high level or see what the high level will say. they don't want the high level to be arrogant so they just agree that they are noob and move on..or maybe it is just a habit.. Star_Fox
this happens to me alot when im woodcutting at catherbys. some stranger would always envy my 99 woodcutting and suddenly feel down to compare his levels with mine. its typical if you have an achievement cape and training the maxed skill, especially in f2p. HellsBells
Well, I'm a pessimist. My motto is-If you're not the best, you're nothing. My F2P Moneymaking Guide!Always gargle before a takeoff. Wakka Wakka!
Deiophobus
I've gotten that too sometimes, thats why I don't wear my 99 capes alot. I mean, people do it in real life too. Its a self defense mechanism really. Like if you have low standarns for yourself, then you won't be easily dissapointed. I'm not saying this is a good system, just explaining it. But I really don't know whats going on in their minds there, its different with everyone really. If I'm talking to a friend of mine whos way higher levels in a certain skill, maybe I'll jokingly say "<--noob =P", but not seriously. Why not ask one of them why he degrades himself so? st_shir
Good point. I'll ask the next one who does that and report here. Would be great if you guys asked them too. Maybe we can figure out why exactly do they do this and then come up with the best possible solution to the problem. Some of the guys are happy when you say something like "nah, you're not bad, your level is quite good". But for those who keep going no matter what you say, I'd like to know why. And I'd like to know if I can help them even a little bit and if so then how. Or if not then how not to be the target of this kind of behavior. I have courtesy hard-coded in me, so I definately won't say anything bad to them or leave or whatever. Being silent is unpolite enough hehe. Mom raised me wrong? :P Something else I was thinking about: am I really the only one out there who doesn't care a least bit about other peoples levels? I mean, I almost never look them up. I sometimes look my friends up to see what they've been up to and how they are doing but strangers.. that has to be a very interesting looking stranger for me to look him/her up. Anyway, I'm going back to thieving, hoping not to get another one of these guys. Or those who try to convince me with all costs that I really have to go to plunder lol. I do understand they want to help me. At least some of them do. Some just like to think I'm stupid. But yeah, 20 guys with the same suggestion in a day is a tad too much :)
Tim
i know how to slove this! lets play the "give Dark_Aura 100 million gp!" ...eh eh?.....didnt think so... OT: some poeple who belive they have low standards (I myself even feel that) lack confidence. (soz its just slowly rambling from my head i cant quite put into words) and others also like myself can be jelouse that they dont have that kind of respect compaired to a 99 strength player with skill cape, despite that some people only give respect just for the cape; but also due to lack of money, i myself have always wanted to look rich and feel powerful. but all i can realy afford that does damage is a measly set of torag hammers.... oh well..not every1 can have their way... Echofish
I've got this nasty habit of constantly checking other people's total levels especially if they are around lvl 80+ It's an obsession in a way. I got this need to prove myself somewhat "better" than the higher levels. And then, seeing all those lvl 3 skillers makes me think "Meh, what have I been doing lazying around all this time. If a lvl 3 can, so can I" and sulk for the rest of the day :? Ultra Unholy,Hearted Machine...
Michael
While woodcutting I get quite alot of "wc lvl" requests, I like saying it because i'm proud of my lvls, as they all take work and no matter what someone tells you, every 99 is special. To the people who say 99 cooking or fletching is nothing are usually the ones who have no 99's at all, or any stats close.
TheWilch
:shame: great now runescape characters are going to start feeling depressed and start commiting suicide because their characters self esteem is being lowered by their stats not being high enuf. :wall: move away from the keyboard pl0z? no_way2go
I've got some "noob" skills to, like ranged, but I don't mind. Atleast I can make my own rune axes 8-) - Back to casual f2p scaping due to limited time (university and girlfriend ) -
Voldmort0
Long or not long, a well made point. I don't have bad lvls and happens quite often sometimes when I'm talking to my friends. Truthfully I hate it when they put themselves down and I don't know what to do, I just usually say it isn't bad and that with time it'll rise if he intends to do so. I do believe its not bad, like you, but I think it's dumb that people keep doing that, I understand it as a call for attention. To be honest, happens to me sometimes when I watch my Friend's on highscores :P yet I don't go about complaining or getting all "emo" about it. I get a little disappointed, yet now I can say I'm very proud of Vold, and the lvls I've achieved on him. Just have fun and you'll see you'll feel the same! ;) Runescaper since June 2005Blog
