April 9, 200719 yr I know this might belong inn Varrock Library, but I'm not 100% sure. I am doing an English project (Junior in Highschool) that involves writing 10 poems using various literary techniques. I have been working on this project for quite some time, but I have only been able to write 2 poems. :| I don't have any problems actually writing the poems, I just can't think of any decent topic to write about. This project counts for one fifth of my grade this marking period, and I need to do well on it. I am open to anyone with any suggestions on what to write about. Help? ~~Let The Dragon ride again, on the winds of time~~I've always felt as if I'm the only person who can understand the concept of sarcasm on the internet.
April 9, 200719 yr Love, wars, marriage, religion, 21st century, internet, global warming, space, planets, afterlife, music, the rich, the poor.., LEDC's MEDC's countries. Some topics I can think off right now.. A friend to all is a friend to none.
April 9, 200719 yr Ten poems seems like an awful lot to write. I only come up with something I want to keep about once a fortnight. La lune ne garde aucune rancune.
April 9, 200719 yr Author Its not that the writing is actually hard. I consider myslef a fairly good writer, I just can't get any inspiration. StrOwes, thanks for the tips. Anyone else have more? Lateralus, great song! ~~Let The Dragon ride again, on the winds of time~~I've always felt as if I'm the only person who can understand the concept of sarcasm on the internet.
April 9, 200719 yr Author Anyone? I've written two more, one about Dreams, and another about Footprints. 6 more to go. Working on another one about the War in Iraq. ~~Let The Dragon ride again, on the winds of time~~I've always felt as if I'm the only person who can understand the concept of sarcasm on the internet.
April 9, 200719 yr I generally find my inspiration when I am looking at something or thinking about something and a phrase comes into my head that seems poetic, and so I expand whatever concept I was thinking about, usualy in a representative manner - The God Delusion (R. Dawkins) made me write a poem about the flaws in the Catholic doctrine, a conversation made me write one on "paper people". So, if you having a hard time trying to find inspiration, pick up a book, read the introduction, or watch title clips from a film, or listen to quick snaps of music, or go for a walk and keep a pen and note pad in your pocket. I find myself always thinking odd thoughts as I walk, and they are hard to retain unless you quickly jot them down.
April 9, 200719 yr Some ideas that may or may not help: Choose a theme for several poems and write them together. Use a thesaurus to find new words. Google image search and use pictures as a basis for poems. Change font color and style. Good luck.

April 10, 200719 yr Author Jaerkd00d, I already wrote a poem about how I can't think of anything. LP, it is techniques. Anaphora, Ceasura (sp?), Alliteration, that type of stuff. Also, everyone who said Haiku, I already ran it by my teacher, she said she wants 10 lines to a poem. Not 3. :-s ~~Let The Dragon ride again, on the winds of time~~I've always felt as if I'm the only person who can understand the concept of sarcasm on the internet.
