Locke_Superbus
because its ancient...but that doesnt explain its tremendous defence. even if you drop it on a body of grass itll still shatter. even a cup is tougher. thats amazing... ive seen barrows armor on the ground without it being broken... and it wasnt that day it was released it was 8 months after it was released. and it may not explain its defense capabilities but it hints to things that are brittle such as concrete. when you pour concrete on the ground you can drive over it with 50 ton tanks for 20years or more on a regular basis and it will do nothing but maybe cause minor cracks that even the simplest of brick layers could patch with mortar and a trowel. how does that relate? well when use properly like i described above it is resilient and strong durable and considerably superior to alot of things in more ways then 1. now if you took a sold concrete block and started pounding on it with a hammer, you do a 10,000th of the pressure of a tank? and ull break it? or if you hoisted it on top of 2 pillars 1 end of the block each being held up by different pillars. the center of it could not hold much weight... maybe a ton? Exactly... there was some construction being done the other day in my neighborhood. There was a large piece of tarmac, and a backhoe, which must weigh 2-3 tons, was pushing on it trying to break it, and the 2-3 ton machine was lifted into the air, and the tarmac didn't break. Then a guy took a sledgehammer and bashed it to pieces. Yes, the world's weird. :| pressure decreases exponentially over increased surface area. hence why a needle cuts through your skin, whereas a punch doesnt put a hole through you. the punch has more force, but it effects a larger area so doesnt cut as well
Kaioke
I believe if you drop it at 100% it stays together. So, if you have a pair of headphones at one hundred percent, brand new, you drop them, just a scratch, whatever. Those same headphones, a year later, with electrical tape on them and an earpiece hanging off, if you drop those, what happens? Saru Inc
Well, I have no idea, why. Maybe Jagex just wanted to tweak with us. :x Maybe they don't want them to be dropped at drop parties. Why don't we ask Jagex that in a letter? I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. Those same headphones, a year later, with electrical tape on them and an earpiece hanging off, if you drop those, what happens? There can't be any number next to the name else it'll destroy in ground. Oh, and also, I'll be sure to take earmuffs next time i train combat :P Jagex though that if barrows they were tradeable prices would vary too much and because the buyer wouldn't know if that guthan spear 25 is actually 25% or 1%, so they made them tradeable only when they are complety repaired or broken. Barrows items break when they drop because when they just came out PKers would drop their half-used equipment so the people killing them wouldn't get it. Done with topic, mmkay? If you're looking for a less tecnical explanation it's because i made jagex give me 1m when a barrow item was complety broken. I wasn't getting enough profit so i haxed jagex and now they broke when they touch the floor 8-)

OMG, it makes perfect sense now! But still, if you are dropping it, that person should be grateful that they just got a free item. I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. darkstar4441
I love how jagex makes everything make sense. Like how a chain of sausages triumphs over a huge [bleep]ed meat tenderizer. And how red armor is stronger than brown. But the ultimate question remains: Why don't I have fingers? And if you have no fingers, how do you enter your bank pin? :D. If you have a full inventory at barrows, and get an item it appears on the ground unharmed. To my knowledge, that is the only way to get it on the ground without breaking. Pan_Nx
Or why you plant snapdragon (which is a flower) in a herb patch and rosemary (which a herb) in a flower patch. Heh, yeah basiclly no logic at all,
Aresgodowar
or we could just stop wondering why jagex dont want us to drop trade barrows... or it could be because the magic leprichans are jealous and when the armor hits the ground they bash them with their magic sledge hammers. but because they have camo on we cant see them. WingedFish
what doesn't seem logical to me is how I can shrug off a greataxe hit to the skull, but getting hit by a lady with a baguette knocks me out cold, and transports me great distances :D The line between reality and runescape is a very thick one. sprocketme2
I feel like a huge noob... I had no idea it would break if dropped. You think jagex might have implamented that as a pker deterent? If a pker knows they wont get the barrows you are wearing, they may be less apt to attack you.
