Vulxai
Macroers have a program that is designed to do a certain skill for them until they have a high level (or 99). Usually I see them with woodcutting and fishing, skills like those have macroers. So put it simply, it's a program that levels a skill for you without YOU actually doing it, the computer does it. ~ Proud Father ~ Proud (Currently Deployed) Army National Guardsmen ~ Proud Lakota ~ Retired Tip.It Crew ~

Thats is true. But, most Macros are ran by businesses which then sell the gold online to other players. The characters fish/cut/kill or w/e and then bank the items, before selling them on for gold, which is then sold. In theory, it is actually quite hard for JAGeX to catch the companies who are trading the gold, but it is easy for them to detect the macros in game. That is why when they make a certain amount of money, (say 1m), then tend to give it to a larger account which stores it as a bank.
Fools_Taco
One thing i will never understand is why these tools stay at lvl 3 combat, its like wearing a huge sign saying I AM THE MACRO REPORT ME. it would only take them 2 days to level to 60 combat, then they would almost never get reported. Anyways its cheating and thoes guys suck. Dont be that guy. And its easy for jagex to catch them once they have the account name, so when you see one REPORT THEM. D. V. Devnull
who_ryan, I support all of the above statements. BTW, read the stuff at the following URL: http://kbase.runescape.com/viewarticle.ws?article_id=2077 Keep it in mind and take it to heart. Oh, and one more thing... DOWN WITH MACROING!!! ~Mr. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)
nashy14
Jagex should make randoms, with 'random names' becuase they detect if a random is near them by there name. The same as the detect if there is a tree near them. Shutting doors on them is also usefull. Click the image to pat my pet!

Colour clickers don't just look for "mysterious old man" -They check if you are in combat and run -They look for "yourname643, can you help me/talk to me" or whatever message comes up. The macroer just saves their username as a constant. -They also look for colours you don't see elseware.
