New F2P units

Ok this is just something that I know a lot of people both agree with and disagree with

I will not spend a lot of time making this post appealing with big coloured text - it is the content that matters

Firstly I would like to congratulate Jagex for adding some ranged units to the few that F2P has already - I am not being sarcastic

We now have barbarian archers, guard archers, and mabye some more I havent seen

However if we look at magic units we have: dark wizards (level 7), wizards (i think) (level 9) and a few others, the strongest of which being the witch (is that magical) (level 25)

There are many strong monsters on F2P that will melee fight you, but these can become tiresome. I am just suggesting that a few mid-strong level magic and ranger NPCs are added, so we can use range and magical protect to better use

One suggestion may be a variation of a lesser demon on Karamja - mabye one or two are ranged (have javalins) and magic (throw spells, have a staff, something along those lines)

Maybe throw some skele mages in here?

lol they would have to be about level 40-50 to be any fun
Since there are already level 45 skeletons, that would be a good level for them. They would just need to be in more remote locations, like the level 45 melee skeletons are.

Put simply, I agree that there should be some more magic-users (NPCs, of course) in the free game, and a few better range users.

I support this idea. There are not enough strong Mage-using NPCs to attack!

champion scrolls?

Yeah you know, downstairs Champion's Guild? It could work out, check the minigames guide on tip.it for more information the Champions Scrolls.

Maybe give some demons the ability to use fire bolt? Or is that too high damage?

They are member's only.

I'll bump this with a reminder note that I do support and there are other supporters. The one thing that is critical with threads like these is patience. Without it, a good idea will come crumbling down too easily.

D_V_Devnull, how does this count as a great suggestion? It's noting more than asking for more monsters in f2p, not some great new thing nobody has ever thought of..

Sorry, I don't support. I don't see a need.

Well, no duh. But they could work for this suggestion if they were make F2P. My friend tells me no one really plays that minigame anyway.

mini games will never become a f2p addition

im not objecting to that

Sorry, I don't support. I don't see a need.

lol i worked so hard to get magic protect, and im level 37 pray

are u saying that i will have to go to pvp somebody to go use it?

its not a big suggestion i know, but i think that free members would love jagex if they introduced a few strong level monsters that are not melee to f2p

an extra addition could be in the karamja dungeon where the lessers are - a cave behind the fire runes that leads to a place with lesser demon rangers and melee

or a skelleton crew of rangers and mages

something along those lines

Aye good idea, would be more fun to kill a bigger variety kind of monsters. Yet the whole point of F2p is that it's a trial and different and more varied monsters should be in P2p. Still maybe 1 or 2 different kinds wouldnt hurt ;)

I have to disagree. The reason it is a great suggestion is that it suggests adding to the monster class that has the least representation in all of F2P.

Just so you get the idea (and might finally support), by adding a few more monsters to the mage group, which would be stronger than what exists right now, it would give players who are looking to go P2P (and some who are not, but might have their minds changed by an update like this) a better idea of what might await for them by going P2P. If they want a big challenge, or have a taste for destruction, or just simply want more options, this would make them want to go get P2P even sooner than before. Instead of thinking, "... :( Oh man, forget it, there can't be much better for me!" ... they'd be thinking, "... I'm missing out on the potential of THAT?!?!?" ... because new players still have the ability of foresight that some of us veterans apparently lack these days.

Now do you get the point and reason to something like this? Do you finally see the need? It wouldn't be just another F2P thing. In fact, if you've noticed, all things for F2P these days that are being asked for and suggested would ALSO help P2P rather greatly.

I've said more than enough. If you don't get it at this point, about the only people you'd understand it through would be The Gower Brothers @ Jagex Towers... -.-

I support this idea. Not only would it give f2p a little more depth, but they could give some decent drops for p2p (if their level was high enough).

I agree with D_V_Devnull here. It's not just to give the "trial version" more stuff per say, but to give them a challenge that the rangers and mages lack. I think that would help more people want to train range and magic, and thus join members to get even MORE. Once there is no more challenge to these monsters, then p2p for some more challenging monsters, and better drops.

Blah, blah, blah... "I'm F2p, and I want more stuff. I'm playing the old argument that claims new stuff for f2p will make more members, when in reality I don't want to pay 5 bucks a month while getting more stuff for free."

You claim more mage NPCs for f2p will make people "with a taste for destruction" more likely to join members. You claim it'll make them want to get members sooner.

How?

If you have a "taste for destruction" and it isn't getting satisified in the demo verson of RuneScape, guess what you do? <.< Pretty obvious, IMO. Getting more fun stuff in a demo isn't the way to get customers, boredom is. If you're tired of the same old, same old, guess what? Splurge and spend that whopping 17 cents a day for members.

Giving more new stuff to f2p doesn't aid a thing, it doesn't make people more likely to get members. Actually, it accomplishes just about nothing. There are plenty of things that f2ps can see that generate interest in getting members, from thieving, to the members gates, to the weekly updates, to the locked skills, ad infinitum. What generates interest is not new stuff available to you, it's the new stuff unavailable to you. The stuff out of reach, not within an arms' length.

Want an example? I don't know of one single new p2p member that joined because f2p got the Stronghold of Security. Why? At first, when someone checks out the new thing for f2p, they're excited. They spend a lot of time on it. They're satisified. Then, after it becomes mundane, they just go back to whatever they were doing before. If they were planning on getting members, they've waited until they finished with the new thing, if they weren't, they just kept going on f2p. IT DOESN'T CHANGE A SINGLE THING.

Now, before you start going "Aw, you're just a stuck up high level member", I was a f2p for a long time (judging by your stats, probably about twice as long as you have been) before I got smart and got members. I didn't get members because of the new stuff we got, like the Stronghold of Security, I got it because of the stuff I didn't have, like ancient magic and whips and barrows armor and quests. That's why.

How do I lack forsight? Personally, if somebody here lacks that quality, it's the person too cheap to spend 5 bucks on the game he claims to like. And a funny thing I've noticed? Every person supporting either you or this suggestions seems to be a non-member. (*chough* perhaps they want something new without paying. After all, who doesn't like free stuff? *cough*) Who knew?

Now, I'm not entirely sure what suggestions you're talking about, but how do new robes for f2p mages aid p2p? How do new mage monsters for f2p help members out? How do snare and higher magic and better armor for f2p help members?

It doesn't. So don't start spinning stuff just because you won't get members and are jealous of the ability of paying players in this game.

And one last thing. Mages aren't the least represented class in f2p. Range is. And we don't even have that many mage or range npcs here in in the paying version of the game.

all im asking is for just one or two new units... a mage and a ranger

this would in no way hurt p2p players - in fact new monsters are being introduced to p2pers all the time and you dont complain. This is basically the same with the added benefit of giving f2pers a chance to experiance fighting some challenging range and mage monsters, and mabye finding a better source of runes/arrows from their drops

this could incite some good players to go check it out, and u never no they might like what they taste

oh and not all of us can pay the money you no, we dont all have credit cards - this is a computer game, designed mainly for children. I never complain that adults use and misuse the game by scamming and swearing. However some parents may not let their children be members

so dont go on about OH only 17 cents!

Huta, I'm forgetting the quote button and shooting this straight at you.

I want to know, what is your internal reaction when you have to come to F2P to pk or team up with buddies who can't be P2P? Do you encounter some kind of "I wish I could use this P2P item here" feeling when you try to launch into battle and you can't use that nice P2P stuff? Do you wish your F2P buddies could have better? Or do you have fun dying, losing your stuff, and laughing at your own friends because they can't come to P2P with you?

Now, do you wish you had better stuff to support your levels when you're ranging or maging on F2P?

(Something tells me you do. ... I'd be very appalled if you didn't, in fact I would have to think you're anything but human if you didn't. :( ...)
