Gamecube Games

Recommended Posts

A couple of years ago I brought a gamecube but it has never seen much use. I played pikmen a few times and found it fun but never brought a memory stick so could never save the games.

Now I decided it is about time I dust it off and purchase a few more games. They should be nice and cheap now.

So I am after suggestions on what would be a few good games to buy. I prefer adventure, RPG and FPS if they have a good plot. Never really played any sport games but find racing games fun on the rare occasions I play them. I have read this thread here but would like more suggestions.

Has there been any decent Starfox games for the cube. I loved it on the N64.

RPG: Can't go wrong with Tales of Symphonia. You'll easily clock 50 hours on your first playthrough, and due to a massive amount of side quests and the replay options you'll need at least 150 hours to complete it 100%. The combat system is fully realtime and 3D, and supports up to four players at once.

Adventure: The remake of the original Resident Evil would be a good choice. It's been given a complete graphic overhaul, most of the puzzles were redone, and an entire side storyline including two boss fights has been added in. A must-have if you haven't played the original, but even if you have there's still enough new stuff in it to keep you entertained.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem: One of the first cube games. Lovecraft themes, mostly adventure, but plenty of (realtime) combat moments.

Beyond Good and Evil: Very colourful, very entertaining. The only downside is that it eats up a huge chunk of memory card space.

FPS: Timesplitters: Future Perfect. Probably the best console FPS out there (sorry, Halo fanboys). Story mode that can be played through alone or in co-op, challenges, and bucketload of multiplayer options for up to four players.

But you need to get Super Smash Bros. Melee :P

I second that.

Soul Caliber2 and Super Mario Sunshine are a pretty good games as well.

I'm going to be a loner in this camp  -.- but buying smash bros melee was a total waste of my money. I was very disapointed, crappy graphics, confusing gameplay, and basically nothing to do unless you have some friends to play with. It is way overrated if you ask me.

At the most, waste 5$ on a rent.

The game is awesome when you have 4 people playing. The rest for me is just to unlock some good characters.

F-Zero GX was an awesome racer with some of, what I think, are the nicest looking graphics on the Cube.

Paper Mario and The Thousand Year Door was also a great game. RPG + Mario = Win.

Killer7. This may be a bit hard to track down, but if you love a good story and aren't phased by some pretty graphic violence and themes, it should provide a few hours of fun.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. Unlike the traditional FF games, it still gave me well over 60 hours of play time, and that's before I had alot of the best weapons/armour and maxed out stats.

1080 Avalanche or SSX Tricky were my favourite sports games and I had a fair few hours enjoyment from the both of them, but I must say, SSX was, and still is the best game in the series.

And as the others have said, Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Zelda: Wind Waker, Metroid 1 and 2.

So many games I would have to try. Glad I waited so long before considering playing them, could of been costly. Many are still quite expensive for second hand games.

So far I have found the following games.

Starfox Adventures

Zelda: The Wind Waker

Killer 7

Metroid Prime

Tales of Symphonia: Amazing game, very addictive. I've probably spent at least 300 hours on it with 7 playthroughs.

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker: One of the best Zelda games ever

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance: Typical game from the Fire Emblem series. Nice storyline, fun, and insanely addictive.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes: Not really a fan of FPS-ish games, but I like this one alot.

Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean: Epic, and is comparable to TOS in many aspects. Not surprising though, since I think they were made by the same crew.

Well I have a few games for GCN, but I only really like a few.

Pikmin2. It is SO much better then the first. Better controll and everything.

Super Smash Bros Melee. If you don't get this, I pity you.

Well its been said but Super Smash Bros is a definate, especially if you have three friends you want to own (kirby pwns). Likewise Mariokart doubledash. Windwaker, its been said great adventure game. Starfox I think you already have, certainly worth it in my opinion and Metroid and you're away.
