Volture
The guide is now finished, If theres any information missing please either pm me or reply this post. thanks. *Yet not explained items* *Explanations* *castlewars manual titles* 13th December 2004 - Castle Wars The Castle Wars arena has opened south of Ardougne! Saradomin and Zamorak have taken an interest and are urging their chosen teams towards victory. Who will you choose to fight for? Or will you follow the way of Guthix and help keep the balance? Castle Wars is a combat based team game. A single game lasts 20 minutes. The Zamorakians and the Saradominists try to infiltrate each others castles, capture each others standards and take them back through enemy lines to their own base and claim a victory point for their chosen deity. Speak to Lanthus in the Castle Wars waiting area for more information on how to play. Buy a manual off him for more information about the features and tactics you can use whilst playing. There are no requirements to join in (apart from being a RuneScape Member), just turn up and join a side! Additionally, the Ring of Duelling now has a new teleport option so players have to do less walking to get to the Castle Wars area. [/quotejagex] Right then! Castlewars, the thing we were all been waiting for, personally I think its great, and I have really enjoyed playing it with friends etc. The Castlewars Manual. *Quotes from Castlewars Manual* Objective: "The aim is to get into your opponents castle and take their team standard. Then bring that back and capture it on your team standard." Explanation: You must take the other team's flag and get it back into your base without getting killed, which will be tough though not impossible. you then must capture it on your standard but your flag must be inside your castle on the top tower on the standard. you cannot capture the enemys flag without having your flag. Toolbox/Toolkit: "This useful item allows you to repair broken doors and catapults. Simply use it on the item to be repaired, or have one in your inventory when you select the option, and you'll rebuild it!" Explanation: The toolkit is a free item you can take from a table down a ladder after you exit the door on the start of the game, you can use the toolkit to fix your catapult after your enemy used an Explosive potion which burned your catapult. you can also use it to fix the main door that leads inside your castle, after the enemy broke it. Bandages/Health packs: "These can be used to heal some health and restore some of your running energy. You can also use them to heal fellow players." Explanation: Bandages are taken from tables and are free, you can take as many as you want from a table, some of the unknown facts of the bandages are the ability to use it on a fellow player. for example, if a fellow player of yours has the flag andby alot of people you can use health packs on him and help him stay alive. A Bandage heals 1 hp for each 10 hp you have. Note: You can use lobsters and sharks etc... but since bandages are free they are recommanded. Explosive potions: Destroyed Barricade. Clearing Tunnel Exploding Catapult "A simple but effective item, use it to blow up your opponents catapult and barricades! It can also be used to clear the tunnels under the arena for a sneak attack into your opponents castle. Don't forget to collapse the tunnels into your own castle though!" Explanation: Explosive option is a free item you can get by picking it from a table. an explosive potion can be used to clear collapsed tunnels and destroy catapults, it can also be used to destroy barricades which are in your way. If you drop an explosive potion you will lose 15 hp so be careful with it! Barricades: A set barricade. "Use these constructs to block your opponents movement and prevent them accessing your castle. Each team can only have 10 built at any one time." Explanation: Barricades can be gotten for free by taking it from a table. Each team can only set 10 barricades at one time but throughout the game you can set as many as you want, there cannot be 11 barricades scattered in your castle. Barricades can be attacked and they give exp for hitting them. you can use these to block ladders, stairs, doors and players. Barricades have 50 hp Buckets: The Tap "Fill a bucket with water and you can use it to put out a burning catapult or barricade, but be quick or it'll be destroyed." Explanation: A bucket can be gotten by picking it from the floor near some crates where all the tables are, use the bucket on the tap which is about 5 squares from it on the wall. You can use a bucket to put out burning catapults and barricades and by so, saving them from being burned to ashes. Tinderbox: Catapult on fire Barricade on fire "Logs aren't all that's flammable, use a tinderbox to set light to your opponents catapult and barricade" Explanation: Tinderboxes respawn at the corner of the room with the tables, Use a tinderbox on your opponents catapult to set it on fire and burn it, you can also use a tinderbox to set barricades on fire, but beware some people might have buckets of water so youll be in trouble! Pickaxe: Clearing Rocks Collapsing Tunnel "Use a pickaxe to mine your way through the tunnels under the arena for a sneak attack into your opponents castle. Don't forget to collapse the tunnels into your own castle though!" Explanation: Pickaxes are achieved by picking them from a table or you can bring one, rune is the best for the job. You use pickaxes to collapse a cave or to carve your way through rocks. Rocks: "Used as ammo for the catapult, and not much else. Brings new meaning to the phrase 'flies like a rock'. Explanation: Rocks can be gotten by picking them from a table. Rocks are used on a catapult to lunch it on other enemys, there are co-ordinates for hit and it makes alot of damage to alot of people, try not to hit your team though! Climbing Rope: No quote on manual. Explanation: The climbing rope is pretty much a grabbling hook. Use it with some battlements (top of the walls of castles) and you'll throw it up the battlements. A rope will appear draped over the wall. Move your mosue over its very bottom until you get the option to 'climb rope'. Choose to do that, and you're up to where you threw the rope. Saves the trouble of running in the castle and climbing up a staircase. I guess im done with the manual so here comes the next part: Learning how to play You start off by getting to the castle wars arena, The castle wars arena is located south of Ardougne. you can either walk there or teleport there with the ring of dueling. Ring of dueling now has a new option of teleporting to the castle wars arena. After you've got to the castle wars arena, speak to Lanthus and trade with him, buy a castle wars manual if you'd like or you can use my guide which is better. Note: Manual costs 5 gp. Game's length: 20 minutes. After you have all the information you need about castle wars you can pick a side you wish to play with. Saradomin - Blue Portal/Carpet. Zamorak - Red portal/Carpet. Guthix - Green portal/Carpet. Note: If you choose the Guthix portal you will be teleported to either Saradomin or Zamorak since Guthix's portal evens the teams, so if there are more zamorkians you will be teleported to Saradomin etc... After your teleported to any side, theres a waiting room and from time to time a message will be shown telling you how much time is left for the game to start. Each side has Recognition signs, such as a hooded cape and a hooded helm. you cannot enter the arena with your own helms and capes therefore theres a bank chest outside the arena, same like the dueling arena. When the game starts you are spawned in a small room along with 100 more players and theres an energy barrier which you need to press on to leave the room. after your out theres a ladder on your west, if youll go down to it you will come into a room with lots of tables. the tables will hold stuff such as: Bandages, Toolkits, Barricades, Ropes, Rocks, Pickaxes and Explosive potions, On the floor there will be Buckets and Tinderbox. For full use of the items above return to the manual section at the start of the guide. If you range or mage inside the arena you will lose runes and arrows but you will also gain exp. Note: If it's your first time playing Castle Wars I suggest you go explore the castles alittle bit and look around so youll know the terrain. Note: If you die you will not lose any of your equipment, not even the free stuff you can get from the tables. After you looked around and you know the terrain, you can either defend the flag or attack your enemys castle and try to breach it in order to get their flag. The flag can be found at the top tower being guarded by people. The Standard: If you get the standard, which is not an easy task ;) run to your castle, youll probablly going to be chased by people so get the prayer and food ready. if you get to your base alive and you want to capture the enemy's sstandard you must climb to the highest tower in your castle. Left click the stand when you have The ENEMYS standard and you will score. Using the catapult is abit tough though you'll master it quite easily, burning your opponents catapults and barricades is always efficent but dont forget, catapults are easy enough to repair so youll might just stand there all the game burning the teams catapult. Now moving on from playing the game. Castle Wars Tickets You can gain Castle Wars Tickets by either: Winning - 2 tickets Draw - 1 ticket Lose - 0 tickets After you've got a few tickets you can talk to Lanthus again and trade with him. Each item costs a different amount of tickets, i've also heard they are going to put in more items for future updates. Im going to need help with this, give me stats for the items if you have them. Lets start out with the items list: Decorative Helm Stats: N/A Tickets - 4 Decorative Plate Stats: N/A Tickets - 8 Decorative Legs Stats: N/A Tickets - 6 Decorative Shield Stats: Attack bonus Defense bonus +0 Stab +18 Stab +0 Slash +22 Slash +0 Crush +20 Crush -8 Magic -1 Magic -2 Range +20 Range Tickets - 6 Decorative Sword Stats: Attack Bonus Defense Bonus +15 Stab +0 Stab +20 Slash +3 Slash -2 Crush +3 Crush +0 magic +0 magic +0 range +0 range +22 strength +0 prayer Tickets - 5 Last but not least. ANIMALS There are several animals you can become to when you go to a portal, you can be either a sheep an imp or a bunny. You'll be a bunny if you enter using the Saradomin portal while wearing a Guthix/Zamorak prayer book, their blessed symbols or their armor. You'll be a sheep if you enter using the Guthix portal while wearing Zamorak/Saradomin blessed symbols, prayer books or their armor. You'll be an imp if you enter using the Zamorak portal while wearing Guthix/Saradomin prayer books, blessed symbols or their armor. Animals have no special features except for the bunny which hops instead of walking. The Art of Catapolting By Smavey Catapolting is one element in the game. Catapolts are powerful ways to kill enemies, and are fun for high levels, and good for the lower levels who are too weak to go out into the battlefield. Catapolting takes some skill and requires quick acting, planning ahead, and with practise, you can get some kills and help out your team to take out groups of people! Is there a catch? No! Its easy! There are three easy steps! 1. Go to the storage room and fill up as full as possible inventory with rocks, but leave one room for a toolbox, and the other for a bucket of water! These are very handy, especially when an enemy breaches through. 2. Go to the Catapolt and click on it! The catapolt is in the corner facing the center of the field, upstairs on the castle wall. There is only one, and can be used by many people at a time. 3.When operating the catapolt, quickly decide, in order, what shot you are going to take. There are three different shots that are possible. (These names are just made up, and you dont have to press any button on the runescape window to do them, just your brain!) A low shot, a snipe shot, and a long distance shot! I will talk about these three shots next! Always check for these shots in this order! After you fire, click on the catapolt to shoot again. Now for the types of shots you can make. There are three different types, and all serve different purpases. The first shot is a Low Shot. Low Shot These are the easiest and quickest shots that can be used. But unfortunatly, they are rarely used. Even though they are easy shots to make, they still do good dammage.) Use a low shot if there are people standing right outside. Because they are effective, always check first of all if people are in the area right below the catapolt (0,0) To do a low shot, simply click on the fire shot without aiming at all! After shooting, they do good dammage! If there is nobody there, check for a snipe shot. Snipe Shot These are the hardest shots to make, but if they are done, you can get kills!. These shots require actually aiming for your opponent, and even timing your catapolt to land on the bad guy! But how can you know where the guys are? The key is using the little area above the catapolt screen, and using the arrow keys to move to see your surroundings. Also, check your minimap for hordes running! As you can see in the picture, there is a guy there! Easy kill! Now another strategy is to camp at the bridge. Aim here: Keep the arrow here, and you can see clearly the bridge! If someone comes and starts to run across the bridge, shoot right away! Another easy kill! Now the next shot should only be used if there is nobody nearby at all. Long Distance Shot Like the Low shot, it is incredibly easy to do, and sometimes you can hit characters. But here, you are simply aiming at the center of the map, and hoping that it will randomly hit people battling in the center island! Aim here: (26,27) is aproximatly the center of the island. Good luck! Note: The catapolt's maximum distance is (30,30). Other Tips Watch out for bad guys blowing up your catapolt! To fix it, left click on the demolished catapolt to fix it if you have a toolkit. If it is on fire, use your bucket on it! Have fun! Ive made some amazing snipe shots and they add to the fun of the game, especially if your not strong enough to do much else! Newest update 15th December 2004 - Changes to Castle Wars We have made a few improvements to Castle Wars today: You no longer need your own flag to score a point for your team, just bring the enemies flag back to your flag point! This should lead to more exciting higher scoring games. The yellow arrow will now point to where your opponents flag is if it's been dropped or being carried by someone. There is now a timer displayed in the game window while in the waiting areas showing you when the next game will start - no more trying to spot time messages in your chat window! Your own team will now appear green on the minimap and your opponents will appear white. This replaces the normal friends list effects in the castlewars area. "Attack" is now the left-click option on all your opponents, and right-click on all of your own team. The doors out of the respawn rooms are now "Energy Barriers", so the whole team can pass through at once. A few minor fixes Credits: Volture Smavey - for the fantastic catapult guide. Personcowcow otinn Unstickied by mpm. Give me a holler if it needs back up.

Y2g2003
maybe u should put tips on how to win My guide basically explains almost every method you could use as far as defense and offense goes. It also includes some of the stuff he has mentioned, didn't really get into as much detail as he did with the catapult... but I did send in an e-mail to tip.it linking them to mine in hopes that maybe they would use it. I would've posted it on these forums but I broke the sections down into separate posts because I was exceeding my 10 KB per post limit in some of the areas. :-D R.I.P Shiva
Volture
Thanks for Sticky, and if you'd read credits that Catapult section is Smavey's There are no methods of wining yet because the game is not advanced enough, right now its all about who gets the flag the fastest, and if you can keep your team flag for long enough if you pick it off the floor. Makoto_the_Phoenix
One more thing you forgot to mention. Someone can kill their enemy with their respective banner and heal rapidly at bandage table or hide out away from the castles. This can lead to a certain team victory, as it is difficult to kill those closer to healing stations. Also, the catapult's maximum damage is believed to be around 15. Something to keep in mind. Not exactly true about the Med Table... You have to have real good defense and armor in order to get out of there. People notice you there and do tend to dog pile. If you were to have one round where you really got nailed... you could die at the Med Table. I've seen it happen enough times to know. And yes... the most I ever got hit with a rock is like 14 or 15. Also another nice little tid bit about the med packs is... they cure poison. So poisoned daggers have little to no effect when you have a full load of meds. Uller
Just some points. meds give 20% energy, so if you have a full load of meds u can keep running for ages. You no longer need to have your own teams flag in the stand in order to score.
