hkscaper
My definition of a noob: A person who does things just to annoy others, and has no respect for other players and the rules.
Guest ShadowClawe
Wow, you're good at this, RayOxide. Everything you said in your list only happens on RS, and never will happen in real life. And, there's a word for "People thinking they're better than others" That, I pointed out is Arrogance/Arrogant/Arrogancy/Cockiness/Cocky, Not noob. What I also mean is, if someone in real life, said to you... "You're lame at this, I'll win, beat you all" Etc etc, You wouldn't call them a noob? WOULD YOU? :notalk: EXACTLY. Of course it happens only in rs. If someone started annoying you, say, your little brother, you wouldn't call them a noob. ---------------------------------- Even so, people who are arrogant are considered noobs! Noob is a very general word. ------------------------------------------ First of all, we are talking about runescape, not real life. We are talking about what a noob means on runescape. My list says what I think noobs are in runescape, so don't apply them to real life. Whatever, lets not argue, the topic might get locked.... Like one time on this WWE forum, there was like 5 pages of people arguing of these two people that AREN'T brothers..... Btw, Shadow, Whats with the Old Red Goblin Mail in your Avatar? Sorry Ray for arguing with you :( Won't happen again Btw, the point of having the red goblin main in my avatar is TO SHOW OFF! :D :D :D JK It becomes sort of a 'rare picture' after its discontinued, nobody has it in their banks, and most fansites drop the old and put the new one in. Its sort of an "antique" picture :P
Artificial_Doom_Flavor
And, as for this: One who asks what a noob is.That would fall under Newbie if anything. And in this case, it doesn't fall under Newbie because the question is about opinion. I was kidding X_X Still enjoying RuneScape?

BBC3
Noob just came from newb. Newb or Newbie was the name given to new players, it gradually turned into noob, and used to insult new players. Then it was used to insult people in general. Years later, it has branched into names such as choob, and froob, and now has no real meaning, people just use it when they want to insult someone. Nowadays it is so loosely used that if someone wants to insult someone, they pick something that they are insulting them about, and add the word noob to the end. Such as def noob, scammer noob, str noob, high lv noob. The idiots guide to debating in Runescape: Step 1: Pick a random word. Step 2: Add the word noob at the end, call the other person this. Step 3: Repeat, after 5-10 minutes switch to a new word. Anybody who wants to be an idiot/immature/ignorant should have this guide handy. pretty much the best definition so far.. two main definitions in my eyes 1: a high lvl/mid lvl player who think he is supierior to another player in all forms. 2: a person who cheats hacks etc to become rich in the hope of being respected. PS. i try to avoid saying the word noob as whn i was called it i felt bad and i do not wish to make somone else feel the same as i felt : 1. that would be a choob in rs terms, or in my terms, arrogant high levels. 2. that would be scammers and hackers 4000000657th to 99 cookin555555406th to 99 flethcin
photographyplox
""Newbie" can be used as an endearing term to identify newcomers to a game, place, or organization. The variant spellings of "newbie" are also used, especially in online games, as a catch-all insult regardless of the recipient's actual skill or experience. Even a person who has spent hours and hours perfecting an activity, achieving the maximum possible level, and clearing every stage on the hardest difficulty setting will often be called a "newbie" despite these accomplishments. The variant "noob" has become common in spoken English in parts of New York City and New Jersey as a substitute for the word dude." (wikipedia numerous authors) i like the "noob is being used as dude" :D Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
tippyc
I say that if you call anyone a noob, then you are one. i disagree with that one... this topic has been blown off by a lot of the responders who think that pkfr0mafar is a noob because he is asking our OPINIONS on a subjec that has become increasingly unclear recently. unfortunately, the word "noob" has meen misused and abused in today's gaming world to the point where a discussion of what it really means is not only important, but relevant to anyone who wants to use it (or not use it) properly, and thereby appear to be a mature person. "noob" is only meant to be an insult what makes me think someone is a noob: -trying to beg for anything. (you want me to do something? how much are you going to pay me?) -asking for free favors when i've never seen or talked to you before -asking for stuff/money. (especially anyone about lvl 30 or above who's too lazy to work and get money the way everyone else does: fishing, mining, etc...) -anyone who brags about their accomplishments (no matter what level they are) -anyone who calls someone else a noob for no apparent reason ---in general, any player who acts immaturely in any way these people are specifically NOT noobs: -new (inexperienced) players who dont yet know what this (or any) game is all about, who are asking what you're doing, or asks how to do something (this might be very annoying, but they really dont know yet what's going on, so don't insult them for something they have no control over.) **** unfortunately, the word "noob" has changed from what it was in the beginning (a perversion of the word "newb", which is itself a truncation of the word "newbie", a term, in no way meant to insult, meaning a new or inexperienced player/person) to an insult that immature people misuse on anyone that they get pissed off at. on the other hand, there will always be people who dont give a f&@# what other people think about them, who, even if they read this thread, will still insist on calling me and others noobs because we're trying to tell them thet they shouldnt use the word. :wall: whatever. i cant win 'em all, so i might as well go f&@# myself... i've never written that much in any forum before in my life Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.
baalboy5
a newb is anything and I mean anything a person doesn't like about you. high scores newb main newb rich newb quiet newb it's anything ANYTHING! Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob. People in OT eat glass when they are bored.
