For me I have met many such new players but obviously they are getting less and less in terms of ratio..

2 years ago I once had this player who came up to me for help in melzar's maze regarding getting through the doors and months later he comes up to me at moss giants and reminds me that he was that guy that I had helped! (only 10 levels below me then though.. #-o )

Unfortunately as we move on in Runescape it is like progress in society, our apparent lack fo time to slow down has caused us to miss out of many such new players.

I particularly agree that many such players always quit very soon after they start, but maybe they leave not mainly because of the treatment they get but because they actually do not spend as much time as most runescape players do or they move on to another game to keep up their interest :notalk:

Have you ever met that sort of new player? Y'know, the nice ones, who regardless of their low level are courteous and polite and don't beg? Sometimes I'm lucky enough to meet one. Its great, we talk, I give them items that aren't worth a whole lot to me, but help them out. Its cool  But they usually stop playing after a while... There seem too be less and less of them lately. Have you ever had the pleasure of meeting a low level like that?
When i first started i was that person, i remember going to the wiz tower and teaming up with another guy, we get other players to attack the lvl 40 mage and split his stuff, that was fun.
That makes you and your friend tools, not nice players.

So being nice to someone is the same as being the same as being used? I beg to differ. Oh no, the level 3 is using me to give him full iron out of charity! What ever will I do without that crucial armour? :roll: Come on, helping a newbie begin his journey in RS is the same as being manipulated? =;
If your talking to me im reffering to the guy i qouted, who says he met a nice newb who helped him kill players in the wizard tower and take their stuff.

Oh sorry m8, didn't mean to misinterpret that.

Perhaps what life_mage12 meant was that the new player was actually willing to help him work together in cooperation to kill the level 40 wizard, for the sake of fun and not for any ulterior motives. That could have been his interpretation of a nice newbie.

Personally back when I was a newb I used to love asking people to go on giant ranging trips at edgeville dungeon in rsc to kill steal other players' kills for the sake of fun! Though this is not really related to the 'good newbie' topic but I feel this is probably what life_mage12 meant by fun, that was not making use of players as tools.

Was giving out iron/steel stuff i had smithed to new players in f2p lumb.. i was getting kinda angry that they just took it and went..

Then this one guy, the only one that said 'Thank you so much' and i could tell that he was being genuine, he even asked me if there was anything he could do for me in return.. i said yeah, carried him to bank, gave him 40k and full mith. lol.

we became friends.. but he quit some months ago (didnt say why)

It's always great to meet people like that.. they just kinda make the game better for u =S

I've met people like that and i always give them money, armour, maybe some arrows or weapons to start them off.

Makes you feel good about yourself seeing their reaction. I could just imagine what i'd have been like if the situation was the other way around.

P2P offers more and better ways of making money than f2p. That's one of the cons you just have to play with if you don't feel like having 1 bigmac meal less per month.

Yeah they usually quit a little while after seeing how pathetic most of the people in the game are though.

ditto

they are very rare though, an endangered species

Triple..

I have met some of these new players ;) I had several who I am still friends with. I once had a guy selling me BÃÆÃâÃâówstrings. So hey.. no problem.. We kept contact and at 1 moment, he asked if I had an addy axe for sale. Well.. sure.. Looked through my bank.. no addy axe. I'd told him to meet in Seers my world ;) I gave him a rune axe. He refused to take it, which is great. He even wanted to pay 40k for it! I refused ;) He could have it.. (I still have 9 axes left.. <.< ) So if you ever meet a really nice new player. Tell him to come to me \' Oh.. and he is still a friend of me! He got 41 woodcutting and is now using the rune axe :-$
