Player Made Quests/Events?!?!

Recently, I've been seeing ALOT of player made quests appearing, or player made events becoming alot more popular...Some Even Very Sucessful. These events are being made by normal Runescape players who sacrifice thier Time, Money, Effort to give enjoyment to other players.

I myself quite like the idea of player made quests, they are enjoyable and give me more chances to get to know some more of the tip-it community. I have seen various events/player made quests being a big hit such as:

- Spoils of War http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=628928

- Getting 10m Cabbages http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=656483

- Player Made Quests http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=634111

- Quests From Official RS Forums http://[Please Use QuickFind Code].com/lang/en/aff/runescape/[Please Use QuickFind Code]?24,25,730,40317083

And Various others which can be found on the Tip.Iters Runescape Events Forum.

As it is becoming a quite popular thing to do, I'd like to ask you:

What do you think of the idea of Player Made Quests/Events?

Do You Think They Are A Good Idea? Enjoyable?

And also, to get some more ideas/views, If you were to make a Player Made Quest/Event, What Would you do, How would you Run it? How would you make it effective and sucessful?

Thanks,

Whatpulse!

Making a event is hard, making a successful event even harder. Personally, I believe making a player-quest would be the hardest player-event to do, however, the trend for the budding tipit creativity simply means that player-quests will doubtlessly rise up and eventually dominate the player-event scene.

From my experience from the Spoils of War, player-quests are a extremely high-risk venture. Not only do you need to have a good idea, you need to get many dedicated people (Spoils employee 20 staffs minimum), large amount of cash (Spoils #1 costs 5m gp), and enormous effort in planning, practicing, and advertisement. Unless people is willing to risk all these, player-quests will remain silent in the player-event community.

However, it seems like everyone we met found the idea to be fascinating, and with fascination someone bound to take such risk. The question is --

I personally love em, think their excellent. They're really hard to pull off, and to do one effectively takes loads of planning. I think in the end, its worth the trouble to pull it off.

Player-made quests are as enjoyable as TET events, if pulled off correctly. The reward of making one is after the event is over, and everyone had a good time.

They are definitely a good idea.

Personally, if I made an event, I'd make a clockwork toy invaison

I think it's great that people use their time to plan and lead quests/events, and I find it a nice supplement to TET, TETAU and CTET events. TET leaders also look through those ideas to find possible nominees or guest events - the guest events have their own sticky.

Laikrob.

You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now?

It was quite a challenging expreince but I still think those were the best moments in my RS career(thu i still miss my 2 ranger boots :( )

Once i'll get my pockets full again, i am gonna conduct another one and make it kind of tradition (yearly event thing).

Even though the make a quest competition was poorly planned, it was still fun to judge,

If it was planned better it could have been amazing.

On topic: Player made events are awesome, they test everybodys creativity and ways to act for different things..

Player made quests are the very nature of emergant gameplay, taking known elements of a game and recombining them in new fresh ways to form something new. At the moment runescape is rather limited in what can be done outside of the preset activities, player made quests force their creators to use every ounce of their imagination and organisation skills to make something fresh. Truely they are the McGuyver's of runescape and for that i applaud them.

I made a player made quest a few months back, it was really fun... it took me so long to organize people and to stop things from turning into a mess. 150 people took part with actually only 80 of them doing the quest I funded it all and it cost me about 300k in total.

Yeah I would look forward to another, it wasn't your fault you have your test to worry about,

maybe next time we can raise some real cash as a reward as that would help bring in the submissions =P~

if u do another one, expect an enterance from me, i have about 5 very detailed quest plans which i could post, just as soon as i fix my old comp :D :D

I think Zeddude's next competition might be a little while away yet,

Just as a hit the rewards for the winners will be bigger this time,

and it might just be alone the lines of a f2p quest not p2p...
