I'd pick 3rd Age over a 99. Really rare, and cool looking.

Depends what 99 skill we are talking about here. If it's a good money making skill then yeah, I'd go with the 99 skill.

99 runecrafting for me.

 

Then I'd use it to make enough money to buy any rare I wanted. =\

Hmm. Probably a rare, since I could buy multiple 99s if I chose.

I think I would take and sell the rare and get a few 99 skills + RSI...

I would take neither option.

 

 

 

If I suddenly got a rare or lvl-99 in a skill without ever having to work for it, then I would not get the sense of achievement. If the question was "Which would you work towards first, a rare item or a lvl-99?" then I would say I'd work towards a lvl-99 skill first. A skill level lasts forever meanwhile a rare can one day be sold and the money spent on various items.

depends which rare to be honest, i mean if its a blue of other really high priced party hat I'd go with rare because then you could use the money to train other skills to 99

there are none buyable skills you know...fishing, mining, woodcutting, agility, slayer, hunter, farming, hp, str, atk, thieving...though i'd get a red phat any day over those and then just train even if it takes forever
