Abelmisi
I'm thinking of buying a PSP. If I get it I plan to use it for watching movies (It has an awesome screen), listening to music and playing games. But I heard a lot of people saying its crap, that it was a bad move from Microsoft. I would like to ask you guys' opinion on it. Is it a a good piece of electronics to buy? How useful is the built it internet program?

How useful is the built it internet program? First of all, you really have to learn what you're talking about. It's made by Sony..not microsoft. That's like saying the PS2 was Bill Gates' love child. Second, the screen is not 'awesome'. In fact after a week it's awful. If you want to play games portabally, get a Nintendo DS, better library, better gameplay, better price. If you want to listen to music and watch movies, get an Mp4 player. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.

Abelmisi
I heard Bill Gates and Kazuo Harai had a love child and everyone made fun of it for having a small WiiWii. Thanks for hijacking my thread, I love you. First of all, you really have to learn what you're talking about. It's made by Sony..not microsoft. That's like saying the PS2 was Bill Gates' love child. Well beep sorry. :uhh: Second, the screen is not 'awesome'. In fact after a week it's awful. If you want to play games portabally, get a Nintendo DS, better library, better gameplay, better price. If you call psp's screen awful what do you call the DS's? Last time I checked Psp's were $169 and DS's $129. That doesn't seem like a huge difference. Better gameplay? Can you name any games for the ds that aren't for 3 year olds? If you want to listen to music and watch movies, get an Mp4 player. I will gladly do so, tell me witch mp4 has a better screen resolution than psp? Thank you for the advice anyway. For the price it is, I'd get a Wii. Wait I did. I'm looking for something portable. rocketman089
Perhaps the snide rebuttals threw me off then. As for the PSP, me brother has one and it's pretty nifty, but he hasn't touched it since he got his DS. I guess a simple way to put is is that the PSP is a jack of all trades, master of none. For all it's versatility it sacrifices in quality in all of those functions. Gamertag: King Arizona

Bubsa
I think I'm up there, Tigra :P To the topic author, if you're holding such a biased opinion against the DS and others then there's no point in me trying to give advice. toadalmighty
psp is good, good graphics and games just shame you need to pay alot more for big memory card and yes ds's games are all for 3yo and under stupid forums lost my dragon count , well atleast i know i got a d chain from a dusty!99 Fletch, Late 0699 Mage, late 0799 Strength, 29th June 0899 Hitpoints, 21st August 08130/138 cmbsooo close
blade995
The PSP is pretty good but the games absolutely suck. If you want something for portable games, get a ds. The internet browser if really good, loads pages pretty fast, and is easy to use. The screen resolution is really good but to put movies on it you need a big memory card, which are expensive. If you are using this to just watch movies and listen to music, get an MP4 player, you can get more storage for cheaper. To add to the bad games part above, when there is a good game to play, the loading times are the longest I have ever seen on any portable or normal console ever. This does not include Rockstar, because the GTA games are really good which I recommend for the PSP.
Lionheart_0
Definitely go with the DS. I only have 4 games, but if i really sat down and tried to finish them all, it would take me the better part of a month to do so. Not all the games are for 3 year olds. Final fantasy III, Metroid Prime Hunters, Brain age, Castlevania POR, ect. Oh! If you get wifi, a web browser is coming to America on the 4th and the 6th (4th is the original ds, and 6th is the ds lite browser) Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Jaziek
I only use my PSP for Pron. I hope you guys know im joking :uhh: whos joking? the pr0nstation portable is 1337! i love the PSP, i think it has an awesome game library. and the internet, music and movies are fantastic, although it does require about 50 quid extra for a 4gb memory stick. Wipeout pure Pursuit Force Medievil Monster Hunter Freedom Tony Hawks underground 2 Fired Up Valhalla Knights LocoRoco Theres tons of great games for the PSP. If you are willing to delve into the world of custom firmware and homebrew, the PSP wins the handheld wars hands down. Most of my friends PSPs are running 3.4 O-EA prime firmware and it is fantastic for emulating everything from a Sega Master System to an N64 as well as playing all PS1 games and having all the functionality of the regular 3.4 firmware. Custom PSPs are amazing, i've seen a PSP with dual analogs for emulating PS2 games.
blade995
You gotta love the homebrew :) . How is the N64 emulator doing? The last time I used the emulator was months ago when it was still at 10-15fps. Is it playable yet (25fps or over)?
GordanFreeman
Yea, anyone who tells you the PSP doesn't have a good game library doesn't know what they're talking about, mostly because its game library is anything from the N64 back (not all N64 roms are playable yet, but many of the good ones such as Super Mario 64 are), and some PS1 games are also playable. As for movies, if you get a big enough memory card and you want to go through some tough work then yes, you can put any movie you want onto it, but if you don't know how to then you'll have to stick with UMD movies. As for original PSP games (not emulators/homebrew) it has a few great games and some good games, but many horrible games. Lumines 1 & 2 are awesome, MGS:Portable Ops is awesome, Socom 2 is fun online, and I haven't played the Katamari game on the PSP but I've heard mixed reviews for it. It plays music great, and if you invest $50-75 in a good memory card, you'll be able to put all of this stuff I've mentioned above onto it. All you gotta do is wait for a downgrader to come out for the version your PSP is, if there isn't one already. Then all you gotta do is put a custom firmware version on it, and you're good for everything, including the web browser. Any questions on this stuff PM me. I'll try to answer as best I can. "El que no arriesga no gana"
jjrox32
The PSP would be so much better with a second analog stick. It makes things harder to control without the 2nd one.
megakiller32
Where can i get this N64 emulator, and will it work with my psp if its at its newest upgrade? *wants to play Super smash bros.* Anyway, the psp does have a good game library. I have Lumines 2 (GREATEST PSP EVER!) Medal of Honour Heores SSX on tour Burnout Legends Burnout Dominator Metal Gear Solid: Portable ops Tony Hawk's Underground Remix Killzone Liberation And soon ill be getting the two Tom Clancy games. 8-) Quit Runescape 30th May 2006.Thanks to Hawkxs for my signature :)
