Crazykid1321
Dear the kind people of Tip.it Forums, I was recently permanently for what I think was unfair to me. ~Why I was Muted~ [hide]On the afternoon of May 5th, 2007, It was any normal day in Rogue's Den, World 99. The conversation somehow drafted into videogame systems, movies, and then internet flash movies. I then said, while still speaking of flash movies I mentioned to URL of a certain site, specifically "newgrounds.com." Then two players, one of them being a player mod shouted "reported!" At first I was confused and then thought nothing of it. I then played a few rounds of Castle Wars, I then logged off for the evening. After a long day of school I sat down and relaxed, powered on my computer and started Mozilla Firefox. I then went to the Runescape mainsite and went to the tip.it home world, world 99. After I typed in my username and then password, I noticed that I had 2 new messages from JaGex, I first thought I was finally invited to become a player mod. (Which was believe-able, as I had no blackmarks and constantly helped newer players) But a JaGex Mod notified me via message box that the status of my account had been changed and I was permanently muted in-game and on the Runescape Official Forums for breaking game Rule 11, Advertising. Opening the appeal page, I see that I have 9.0 blackmarks out of 10 (previously 0) and my flag is now red (previously green) and my current account status is "permanently muted." I thought it was a mistake, after viewing the evidence, I did not remember saying that, but slowly, I remembered the entire conversation. I then appealed my offense and categorized it as an apology, but the offense still stood. After sending many messages to JaGex about my mute, (a total of of nine in a period of one month) *even one where a JaGex mod states that he knows I'm innocent* Jagex sent me a message if I ask more about my mute (which they say the decision is FINAL), I would be punished further (e.g. permanent ban) and my messages will be blocked by JaGex. What really got me angry was that JaGex continuously accused me as "being a threat to other younger players" and "Inputing a URL which is hazardous to the safety to other player's computers." Thank you for taking your time to read all of this. ~Crazykid1321~ Honest Runescape Player [/hide] Now it is hard to choose what to do, I am 14 years old, no credit card of course, but I have a cell phone of my own. I still want to play Runescape but on an unmuted members account. but I could not open a new account because my parents won't allow it, I have some cash of my own, but it's only a mere $80. What should I do?

Crazykid1321
Which website? The one I mentioned and got me muted? If that was what were you asking, it was "newgrounds.com" Which is pretty much a safe site if you ask me.
Skill_Caster
Newgrounds is somewhat dangerous to other player's computers, because it is rated red on McAfee Siteadvisor, and some of the downloads on that site (4/23) are marked red, for containing 180Solutions spyware, Hotbar, and other various types of malware. Also, all of the sites it links to are marked red [EDIT].

That's rough man. Make a new account that is pure F2p, and give all your best stuff to that account. 1.You are suggesting something that is against the rules. 2.If I did that, my pure account would be banned too and that might lead to an IP address ban. 3.That didn't help much... hardwick246
Jagex are quite aggressive when it comes to advertising. My best friend got a perm mute after he said a website that a close wanna-be mod reported for. He had no blackmarks like yourself. The plea's never worked and was threatened. He continued playing Runescape for at least a year more (He played 3 years before being muted). He talked to us through AIM, MSN, Teamspeak, or anything else. He eventually quit Runescape because of the aggervation. He just moved on to a better game that we all know is famous, but I am not allowed to say it. :-# Need help or advise? Have a question? Just PM me through Runescape or Tip.it. :)
hardwick246
My advice though? Just live and bare with it. If you can't, just make a new account. I recommend drop trading the stuff, but it's against the rules. :wall: Need help or advise? Have a question? MidnightHarvester
What should you do... good question. I think that you have done one of the best things you could have done. You have gotten the word out to countless numbers of players who read through these forums that no matter how innocent the intentions, Jagex takes a very firm stance on advertising websites because of the hidden dangers that might lurk within. Assuming everything you said is 100% true, I don't agree with you getting permanently muted. You made a legitimate appeal with a completely reasonable explanation. If this was in a court of law sure you still might get punished for technically breaking a law, but you would never get jail time. But there are just too many players getting reported and making reports daily for them to hold "hearings" for every report. To answer your question though like you would probably want, you say you have a cell phone and that your parents probably would be against the idea of you creating a new membership account. If you pay the bills on your cell phone, you can always use the pay by phone option to create a new account. What you do with the items on your old account is up to you, you sound intelligent enough to figure out something to do with them. I'll stop rambling, and it's a damn shame to hear you got muted and denied an appeal for this. If you need any help feel free to message me in game (st tyrael). Crazykid1321
Thankyou MidnightHarvester and hardwick, you two are one of the last intelligent people who post on these forums, people who think about their post, before they actually post. You guys are maybe right, but I want to contact JaGex extremely bad right now, but they won't allow me via the message system and the message I want to send them is way beyond the 300 character limit, and can't post on forums (RSOF) of course. Thanks for the advise guys. It helped a lot. But I'm still pretty much confused on what to do now.. P.S. I can't PM you ingame, MidnightHarvester XD
hardwick246
Don't message Jagex, because they have already warned you of the possible danger of permenant banning. Your account isn't gone, but only limited. You have probably heard this from somewhere, but I'm just reminding... "You can't change your past, but only make way for the future." Need help or advise? Have a question? Just PM me through Runescape or Tip.it. :)
MidnightHarvester
Yeah it's a catch 22, there isn't really anything you can do except create a new account. They don't give you the room to explain and tell you you can't message them again or you will be punished more. I really meant that if you find the means to create a new account I could help you out in regaining anything you had on the muted account (with the pm in game comment). Hardwick said it best though as much as I hate to admit it. Hours Available (EST|GMT-5) Mon-Fri: 7-11pm | Sat-Sun: Throughout the day
Roberthree
I think of the viruses and stuff as just one bad thing about newgrounds. The fact that they host hardcore hentai videos and games is a good enough reason to not talk about it on a game filled with young people.

Well I am, as well I am sure you are a customer of JaGex, we pay $5 a month, we should at least be able to show our views, tell our full story and we should be entitled to a fair "trial" before any major offenses come onto our accounts. I think of the viruses and stuff as just one bad thing about newgrounds. The fact that they host hardcore hentai videos and games is a good enough reason to not talk about it on a game filled with young people. Excuse me, this may sound weird, but what is hentai? Aresgodowar
well seing as jagex already screwed u over...just give all the crap to a friend u trust and get him to trade it to your new account. there really is no way to trace it.. Edit: wouldnt look suspicious bc your muted and it would look like u quit. Americans love to fight. All real Americans love the sting of battle. George S. Edit: wouldnt look suspicious bc your muted and it would look like u quit. Good idea.... but I think that's a loophole in the rule. Hentai is better off looked up at Urbandictionary.com or Googled :) It's too inappropriate to say here. Drop trading is against the rules so I don't advise it. Or you could take a break/leave form RS and invest in real life. I'm sure most if not all Runescape players have broken one rule. What Jagex has done was limit this person's work because of a unneccessary punishment for a infracture in the rules. There is no more need of ranting and argueing about this. All we can do now is live with it and look toward the future. Now what advice do you want? Need help or advise? Have a question? Crazykid1321
Now what advice do you want? Well you might not be able to answer this but, is their someway to message JaGex about Runescape without Customer Support? I thought its legal to transfer items between accounts via friends  Well, it is illegal and falls under Rule 8. Well unfortunately I am the kind of person who would rather follow the rules then to get in deep trouble, but yet JaGex doesn't know that.- Also it is a miracle that I am not flamming everyone's and JaGex's heads off. :?
